If you couldn't already tell, I hate the Golden Gun. In this post I will be comparing it to the other supers.
First of we have the the Fist of Havoc, this is probably the super that does the most damage (or at least should). It is a melee smash that you need to aim and be in close proximity to use, where as the golden gun does the same amount of damage but is ranged and lasts a long time compared to a brief moment that it takes to use Fist of Havoc. Obviously in a very close quarters scenario the Titan should come out on top but, because of golden gun one shoting them before they can use their super the Titan doesn't seem to win a scenario which it should undoubtedly win.
Secondly we have the Nova Bomb, being a warlock I have a bias opinion on this super, but honestly it has a relatively long cast time and is super situational. For example, if you were a good hunter and you activated your super you are almost guaranteed 3 kills, where as with the nova bomb, if used in an ideal scenario you could get 6 kills, but often this doesn't happen, we usually on end up with 1 or 2, again the golden gun comes out on top.
The Solution
Ok, after thinking long and hard, having experiencing all of these supers to the face and playing all the guardians, I have decided on what Bungie should do to Nerf Golden Gun. It's actually quite simple, raise the weapon clip size to 4, and instead of ever shot being a "one-shot-kill" make it be a two shot kill, but every head shot will be a one shot, this will allow the hunter to require more skill to play and successfully Nerf the golden gun, but still allowing it to be just as powerful in the hands of a skilled marksmen.
If you read to the end your already legend ;)
I would like to say that if this Nerf doesn't happen, which is likely it won't, I will STILL BE OK WITH IT. It doesn't affect me that much and the more I've played the better I have learned to deal with it, my post was just my opinion not a request.

Actually sick of hearing about the golden gun being op. It's not! 3 shots, 3 kills if your lucky. If a titan or warlock unleash there super there is very little chance a hunter can activate the super and get the shot of in time. Even if you do have time you still need to actually hit the target, if you miss your dead. Talking about 4 shots meaning it will require more 'skill' is obsurd! Smashing L1 and R1 at the same time at a group of enemy's will 99% of the time kill everything as a titan or warlock and many use it as a get out of death tactic. You try that as a hunter and your an easy target. Not hating on any classes here so don't get the wrong idea but surely you can understand what I'm getting at.
-
I'm sorry I had to stop reading after you said it should be a one shot kill only if it's a headshot, That way it takes skill hahaha!!! GG gun takes the most skill if the three as it is lol We have to charge up and shoot 3 SEPARATE targets! How many times I've got the jump on Titans + Warlocks, about to kill them and they panic and smash the super buttons to win the gun fight. Noob move! But I don't complain. All supers have negatives and positives! Maybe try playing as a hunter and you'll see. There all OP! That's why there called SUPERS lad :/ Geeeezzzzz these topics on supers are getting old fast ^__^

Let it shoot nerf darts

Edited by GMANx23x: 8/13/2014 7:47:07 PMDude stfu the golden gun is fine as is just like the other two supers. Quit crying like a b**tch.

How to nerf the Golden Gun in just 10 easy steps! Step one: Now that you have enjoyed Destiny long enough to have achieved every upgrade available to the Gunslinger Subclass, you are obviously capable of making an informed opinion about the efficiency of the Super, Golden Gun. However, if this is not true, turn back because you look like an idiot if you try to judge something based on your experiences in the Beta.
-
If anything needs to be done (which nothing happening would be just fine), the GG needs it's timer removed (Or drastically exteneded). While it's up the hunter's super doesn't charge and he doesn't pick up orbs of light. And if he dies he loses it. Thats my opinion on the GG at least.
-
Maybe as you get more armor. It'll take more shots to be taken down from the golden gun. (When at the iron banner)
-
The Golden Guns have some major flaws as well though. For example; If you're not a great shot, you wont hit anyone. Super wasted. If you're a good shot, but nobody is around, time runs out. Super wasted. You can counter the Fist of Havoc by stepping backwards (unless it's upgraded to have a greater range and faster lunge. In that case you're just dead.) You can counter the Nova Bombs by either killing the Warlock as he casts, or getting objects between you and the (slower) bombs. You can counter the Golden Guns by a simple Serpentine out of there or killing the Hunter before the Hunter kills you. But it's actually funny, the Golden Gun is a lot weaker in PvE. If you fight a high ranked enemy (Wizard, Ogre, Golem, Knight Captain) you need at least 2 shots to take them down. That's where I think the balance is off. But frankly, I like your solution as well. The Golden Gun can fire fast enough to easily hit an opponent twice too, so it's not much of a nerf.
-
The balance here is that you don't have to be as precise with other specials. You also have abilities that extend the range of the other supers. Golden gun is fine. If a hunter takes out 3 of you before you can get him then that comes down to skills, not an imbalance. And this is coming from someone who will be playing as a titan and a warlock before I give the hunter a go.
-
Titan and warlock movement upgrade and further super upgrades greatly change the dynamic of their use, the golden gun on the other hand levels out for the most part, because no one cares if you can set people on fire or keep it up longer with throwing knife kills. You got to level eight...shut up
-
Than the golden gun would be a short ranged sniper
-
Lol to all those who say we are likely to miss stop lieing you get large crosshairs and aim assist, all they need to do is remove aim assist from gg then u will see alot of gg misses.
-
Edited by AGROUPUvPriestS: 8/13/2014 2:20:45 PMYou're more likely to miss a shot with golden gun compared to fist, and nova bomb. Golden gun doesn't utilize AOE damage like the other supers do. Why penalize someone for using a super you literally have to aim?
-
Golden Gun to powerful?...dude u can only kill one person at a time (unless you get lucky) where as the other 2 supers you are basically guaranteed multiple kills if you use it on a crowd
-
WANH!!!
-
It's single target, you can miss, and who says there are 3 people close enough to kill. Get over it.
-
if bungie wants balance then i want to use my FoH 3 times. if gg gets 3 shots its only right i get 3 FoHs.
-
The only people that want a golden gun nerf are those that camped in the Interceptor and Pikes all beta since that was the most common way to take them out
-
Edited by sergeantawesome: 8/13/2014 9:57:14 AMGolden gun does not have an advantage. It can only target a single player in PvP vs. Titan and warlock who can kill multiple players in one shot. You can get 3 kills at most if you are lucky, titans and warlocks can get more without trying very hard. You can miss with the gold gun... It is also much easier to kill the hunter while they are using their super. No need or buff needed.
-
Its called a super for a reason dude. (Im no hunter so you cant say im being a fanboy) You might as well use a sniper rifle if your super is two shot.
-
Guaranteed 3 kills? This is assuming there are 3 enemies in proximity in PvP, and that you are only shooting Dreg...since high tier Captains/Knights won't die if you hit them with a full 3 shots. The Golden Gun is the hardest Super to use and is the most rewarding. The additional skills which add on to the super are most important. Both Titan and Warlock get area control capabilities. Hunter can shoot through enemies, situational at best. Hunter kills make enemies explode, to do some AoE damage. Warlock and Titan already have that. Oh yeah, and reducing the cooldown on the super. Doesn't everyone though? It has situational advantages and disadvantages. Titan can resist damage while using the fists as an added ability. Warlock super can heat seek, or split up. They all cater to certain scenarios and should be left at that.
-
i think the problem with your solution is that Bungie want Destiny to be relatively accessible and making the super a two shot would hinder newbies; they could only get two or three kills (though a lot of the time they would die after the first kill) and if they played as one of the other classes they have a better defense.
-
6 RepliesEr..... No. If anything, it should be raised to 4 shots!
-
1 ReplyThat nerf would make the GG exactly the Same as a sniper rifle^^
-
2 RepliesThey need to remove casting animation on golden gun. It looked cool in the videos and it does look cool now, but it is a huge pain. A super is your go too oh bleep ability that you need right then and their, not later.
