People have been telling me to get a new gaming system and most people say Xbox but I just want a second opinion

2 RepliesYou said downside so here: Lack of any "big" exclusives on it. As in Infamous Second Son & Killzone not being the driving game for it. (My experience) I've seen PSN down for maintenance much more than Xbox Live. If you enjoy CoD, MS is still on better terms with it than Sony so expect less CoD stuff for PS4. Unless of course Activision changes focus towards PS4. You did say downsides so expect...not good stuff. Of course you'll get "Et hez nu gaems!!!!" Or "Nu didacited survurs!!1" or maybe even "indysation". But are you really going to put your trust in those type of people who would just spout utter shit for the sake of console superiority?

2 RepliesGo to gamestop, use the demo units. If one console's controller isn't comfortable in your hands, don't buy it. (Don't evaluate at all the tenacity of the sticks or if the buttons are too loose to press, it's a store model so it's going to be worn out a bit) Secondly, evaluate where your console will be. If it's going to be out in a main living room then the ps4 is practically useless compared to the One, but if you're in a bedroom or back game room then it's probably more practical to get a playstation as kinect and the huge box waste space and are impractical. Finally, think about what your best friends play. Last summer, I was dead even between the two consoles because honestly they're the same thing. However, my best friend that I always play with was fully set on the ps4. (He was a part of the crowd overly butt-hurt over Microsoft's DRM policies) video games are an absolute waste of time if you don't play with friends, so this should be your biggest thing to evaluate. Don't listen to the morons saying one console is better than the other. It's all the same thing, they just have slightly different features. The three reasons above are the biggest things to consider, for anyone making the move to new-gen consoles.

3 RepliesIt's not easy to play/talk with friends on the ps4, has barely any cooling (might overheat), doesn't have as good of servers compared to xbox, and (in my opinion) doesn't have good exclusives.

* Can't play Halo: Combat Evolved * Can't play Halo 2 * Can't play Halo 3: ODST

4 RepliesOnly downside to PS4 is PSN is not as good as Xbox Live. But considering where it started on the PS3, it's a whole lot better than it has been.
-
Its merely a more powerful ps3. Theres nothing that wows you like the kinect2.0 does
-
As a rule, I don't buy a console at launch, firstly as most of them have issues that need hammering out over about a year or so. The second reason is because the price tends to drop after a while making it a better purchase. Finally older systems have better libraries, there are very few games out on next-gen consoles right now
-
The downside with buying new systems at this time is they have great libraries. I've been playing my PS2 more than anything and using my new systems for netflix.

You have no friends on PSN
-
Not having a xbox

2 RepliesBuild a PC. You'll actually be able to play games.
-
Obviously down to personal preference. I played my brother's ps4 and liked the games but hated the dashboard layout and feel of the controller. For me it's down to the games. As I'd probably die without halo 5 and gears of war. What I chose should be obvious.

It's running on archaic PC components.

3 RepliesI have a ps4 and my downsides are: No halo No halo No halo Other than that I really enjoy it.

If you want people to like you on Bungie buy an Xbox, if you want to be a smart consumer buy a PS4.
Plus for a purchase over $50 I wouldn't advise taking the opinion of the people on here.
1 ReplyIt's not an xbox one

9 RepliesAlso... Sony is not always the most honest of companies.

Edited by DEZARATH: 3/31/2014 9:12:55 PMI just got mine about two days ago so I just bought the system and the 12 months of PSN and no games for now. Second Son was tempting, but... I have a 360 with plenty of titles and my XBL doesn't run out till the end of the year. So I'm not retiring it any time soon. Right off the bat the ear plug isn't going be with me for much longer. So I'm looking for a headset come next week. The controller feels good. But I can see why everyone is knocking the thumb sticks. But once it's in your hands it's easy to gloss over it. Setting it up is fairly easy. The UI is different but I had a PS2, so it's not like it's something I've haven't ever seen before. I personally like that it doesn't have a cluster -blam!- of music and tv apps all shoved to the back like the 360. But switching over from the 360 can make the back end UI interesting for a few minutes until you realize how it works when establishing security and settings. The PSN store is nice. No problems there. Got around it fine. I took advantage of a couple free to play titles like WarFrame and Resogun. It took awhile to down load. But I'm really out in the woods with terrible coverage, so even the 360 has issues out here in Bear country. It's nice visually as a unit. Doesn't take up a lot of room and it's slim profile fits perfectly under my TV. 49.99 for 12 months of PSN is a small consolation, but I'm just playing games and Netflix. So saving about ten bucks is nice after four years of sixty for the Live service. Overall I'm pretty happy with it so far.

The only downside to ps4 imo is that there's no bloody games yet. though I suppose the xbox doesn't have any games yet either...

5 RepliesThe ps4 is designed as a watch movie play game kinda console that's why it looks so good when your playing it
