it is a hilariously bad system when players are motivated to stop leveling up and deleting upgrades because leveling up makes the game experience worse

Yep. Main thing you don't become more powerful, game just begins more and more difficult.

yup i did not even want to hit grandmaster i was deleting my gear. now I'm at grandmaster im definitely not going to ultimate. id rather have bad loot then suffer with super hard content and limited revives. its stress inducing. ultimate is just stupid .

You can always select a lower difficulty.

It could be fine if some things in game didn't demand "B" rank as one of objectives.

Which things? Do you need these things that a B grade would bring if you are playing purely casually?

Exotic orders are one you can't get around. Well, you kind can by paying glimmer to re-roll but that's a crap shoot. But now in order to farm teir (specific weapons and armor) 5's I have to do Ultimate with modifiers and almost no revives where one bad champion or slip off a cliff ruins your whole teams run. I used to be able to farm the exact same loot on Master and Grandmaster.

But then you get absolutely nothing for it, completely eliminating doing it in the first place, further eliminating about 90% of the potential of new stuff because now you have to rely on a VERY low chance of anything dropping (which has to be random as the final chest doesn't drop new stuff in Portal), so specifically going for something you want has an even smaller potential than it ever has before.

Not only that, but it's having the opposite effect from what they want. It actively pushes the most active players away.
