So, I have 3 characters, just hit close to 400 on my hunter with a prismatic grapple build, my titan is close behind with a strand Wishful Ignorance build, and last, a warlock I'm not playing much, but decided to hop on.
I got a few drops of Solstice armor that I popped on, and started to make a strand Karnstein Armlets build, they were at 10 power, so I pulled a collection roll at 200 power and infused that into them. Then I went to infuse a 397 into it, and it was going to cost me 7,000+ to infuse it. And that's not accounting for all the other pieces of exotic armor I may want to infuse for other builds!!
Is this the intended amount of unstable Cores that need to be spent? And if so, how come dismantling most pieces of gear only give 400-450 unstable cores? That's 16 pieces of gear needed to be dismantled to level up one piece of gear!

Unstable cores are just the former legendary shards Bungie removed in 2023. but this time Bungie kinda wised up by automatically having them expire each episode, so people can't hoard them in their accounts.

100%, it limits even the weapon experimentation.

Wait till you need to master work them. I was rich with materials. Just this event, I am dirt poor now. I don't even like the sets after notice the healing is no good. Thankfully, reload on apex make it usable. Back to Techsec, one and only good set. Bungie needs to buff the other or maybe better sets are coming...

4 RepliesBut why are You or Anybody spending Your Time, Energy, & Resources grinding pass 200? You do know that here in a Month or so We'll All be dropped back to 200, so all Your Time and Resources spend will be Lost and for Nothing. I'm fine at 200 and if something higher than 200 drops doing weekly/daily edz, Cos, moon, etc, Bounties. Public events, or Random chests is just a Bonus.

you might wanna wait til september update. i think core economy is supposed to get sorted out when patch drops.

52 RepliesI’m higher level than you, have done many builds and still have 400k cores. Skill issue

Making choices matter again.

5 RepliesBro, how are you not literally rolling around in a castle filled with unstable cores? I have so many I don't know what to do with them, and Bungies free gift of 200 or whatever it was is frankly an insult. Maybe you are keeping too many items and not deleting enough rubbish ones? I don't know how you're running out.

I think it was definitely intended to be that ridiculous number. We’re used to playing the real OG Destiny way, being able to hit max power and start throwing builds / sets together on the fly. But, this new Destiny, they really intend for this grind to last until Renegades lol. They dump the story all at once now, but this armor / power grind has replaced that method of stretching out the content. Even down to limiting certain things to once per week or once per drop.

3 RepliesThey genuinely feel like they have no reason to exist.

Around the the 280 LL they are asking above 1000 unstable cores. At this point I am just holding the higher LL in my inventory before the next drop is higher, then delete the lower. There is no point in infusing every piece of gear. It does punish build diversity indeed.

I don't know what level you are, but I had an issue with that around level 250. I have since found that I am getting enough junk drops that I don't worry about unstables at all. What I eventually figured out was that I shouldn't feel the need to level up items I don't have currently equipped. I may hold on to an item or two if I'm thinking about switching something, but don't actually infuse it until if and when I decide to equip it. I wasted a lot of unstables trying to keep multiple items near top level at all times. It doesn't take too much conservation to get where you don't have to worry about unstables. Besides, you're gonna end up ditching anything below 5 stars, so don't waste too many resources on lesser gear. Hope that helps. This game is frustrating enough as it is...

3 RepliesEdited by Obi-Juan: 8/8/2025 1:26:17 AMThis is the same for any game heavy on builds in all fairness. Until you get that unique in diablo or that needed item in path of exile, your build just isn't there. I'm sure they'll tone it down, but it's worth keeping all that in mind

Yep, I recall a certain guardian saying is was cheap lol and to just "Grind" for em....TEGRIDY
