Since when did Strikes become running simulators?
Every strike lately, players seem to want to just complete it in the fastest time possible by rushing everywhere, avoiding any non essential enemies, etc.
Genuine q - is there an actual reason for wanting to speed run them? like did you get a better drop or smth?

most people speedrunning them have just played the strike so many times they'd rather end it as fast as possible for those pathfinder rewards, bounties, pinnacles, etc. tldr; they're boring
-
It’s a strike team. It should be as fast and efficient as possible to accomplish the goal or eliminate the target. This is on BUNGIE to innovate. If the goal was to ANNIHILATE all the bad guys, then that should be its own variation on the strike playlist. They are a small studio, so nothing his is easy. But imagine something like IKORA’s HIDDEN MISSIONS. You follow up after the strike team, but the goal is to LEAVE NO TRACE, of the enemy left behind from the Vanguard to accomplish a hidden objective.
-
Strikes are some of the most boring content in this game. And for people that actually have experience in this game it’s even more so.

12 RepliesYou answered your own question at the end slick. Why take 15 min for a strike if I get the same reward at 10 min.
-
Basically nolifers such as myself run regular strikes either for pathfinder/testing out builds/trying to be the best player , it is the honest truth and often times leaves the people who actually have a life left behind wondering wtf is going on. What you could do is , and I know this might be weird since there is matchmaking, is make a post asking for (if you’re kinda newish to the game) friends to play with that are also fairly new and enjoy the game at your own pace. There will always be sweatlords everywhere. Regular strikes, gambit, regular pvp. And they will sweat.
-
1. This is not new - people have been complaining about this since early D1. 2. Rewards are better, in that you can run more of them in the same amount of time if you run them faster.
-
Everyone here making toxic replies should be ashamed, this guy asked a genuine question and if you have to make fun of that or straight up insult them just know that nobody likes to play with the likes of you, you have no real friends and you stand alone in life.
-
14 RepliesPeople are just impatient. More concerned about rewards than fun.

5 RepliesEdited by nonchalantone: 11/13/2024 5:06:10 AMSince when did strikes not have LFG for creating your OWN Fireteam? And making your OWN requirements? You mf'erz will complain about anything! Bungie gives you the option to do these things, why not use them? Complaining about a bunch of RANDOMS not doing what you will them to do is just silly. Genuine question...did you not think to use these options? Or did you think the people playing with you were mind readers bending to your will?

Genuine q - is there an actual reason for wanting to speed run them? like did you get a better drop or smth?
what is the ultimate goal of running a strike? is it not to kill the boss at the end to get the loot in the boss chest? then i'm going to get to the boss and get that done. none of the 'non-essential' enemies as you put it drop any decent loot so why bother with them?

People have been speedrunning strikes for a long time. A lot of people here have done hundreds of strikes and only do them for the pinnacles and exotic engram rewards. No one wants to play the same content they've played hundreds of times just so they can increase their light to play the content they wanna play. Funny enough because people were getting annoyed at having to run stuff like strikes at the start just so they could reach the light requirement for the new stuff they removed light increasing this meant the people who would speed run the strikes no longer NEEDED to. This is why they've come back because bungie is once again dangling the activities they wanna play over strikes.
-
8 RepliesI think you actually hit the nail on the head in another response - if you want to rush through doing it, you really don't want to do it at all. The unfortunate side effect of awarding exotics, pinnacles and 'Xenology' progress from doing ritual activities means that everyone wants to do them, they just don't want to spend a long time doing it. Plus, the average Gen-Z player has the attention span of a goldfish with short term memory loss, which probably doesn't help.
-
for the last few years? lol completing them as quickly as possible if you do run them. people mainly run these because of the exotic engrams and that's it
-
It´s obvious! People have run it thousands of times, people just want to get it done as fast as possible, get the exotic engrams and be done.
-
Probably because people are sick of running the same strike for the 10 thousandth time because they need to complete some asinine bounty/quest step.
-
Edited by Obi-Juan: 11/13/2024 2:32:49 AMWe have done these strikes 100+ times each. The novelty of the activity has worn off, we just want the rewards now. Simple. This is what happens when you add 1 new strike a year
-
9 RepliesFinish faster = rewards sooner = can do more strieks in less time for more rewards. Pretty much it.
-
It's just to save time. Also some people just naturally play the game at a faster pace.
-
im speed running strikes for the candy(390 per run),rep to vanguard. Dont hate the player. Hate the game.
-
Strikes, meh. Nightfalls? Don't skip the bloody champions!
-
You do you mate, let them play.
-
Edited by FORLORNHOPE117: 11/12/2024 6:58:58 PMBecause the game is shite and people want to get it over with as fast as possible so they can play something decent also plus you can always solo everything
-
Candy 🍬, I was talking to a freind earlier today about why most nerfs happen lmao, an I mentioned that d2 still has players that complain about a strike being completed for them efficiently because rng is a thing and weighted rng also Just solo legend no mm you can do your bounties and avoid any speed runner Or Possibly blame bungie for the poor drop rate from the actual Halloween event

2 RepliesYou'll realize that your peers do not care about your experience. As seen in most of the replies. It's all about them. Another hilariously downright stupid thing to say is "wasting time, shooting non essential enemies"... Buddy, you are playing a video game, and you just posted on a forum. You lost the right to complain about "wasting time". Both a video game and a gaming forum is the epitome of time wasted. Whatever tho... just keep this in mind... 10 years ago we were discussing the same subject. Clearly... not much has changed.
-
They became speed running simulators almost seven years ago

9 RepliesPersonally, I never was a fan of speed running strikes cause A: I want to play the game for the sake of playing the game And B: it gets annoying playing catch up With the new pathfinder stuff it gets annoying to do when you can’t even play the game, thank god bungie made it so if your fireteam gets kills with the stuff you need it counts to your progress or we would never have it done
