Im just gonna list off a whole batch of issues i have with keybinds vs controller bindings
You cant set multiple buttons to the same press (ie stasis breakout has to be its own dedicated key instead of just setting it to a convenient button)
You dont have the option to tap, double tap, hold, or long hold anything. This leads to less optimized key usage where youre forced to spread out across the keyboard.
Cant set 2 imputs for 1 button like on controller. Once again, it leads to less optimized button usage. Controller lets you use any 2 for whatever outcome you want.
Give us these options, and i might enjoy m&k over controller

Its a trade-off honestly, for the power of simple aiming we have to use nearly the entire left side of the keyboard needed for button allocation. A lot of games do this when they are originally designed for consoles and many have terrible support for mouse & keyboard. Thankfully Destiny isn't one of those, but I can agree there could be some improvement. It gets better if you have a mouse with extra buttons to bind to, though. If only they could set keyboard buttons to long press like the reload or grenade button, and a double tap seems useful. I tried controller a while ago but it just feels so clunky to move the camera and aim, though the ease of access to the buttons for abilities felt great. After 20+ years of playing on mouse & keyboard for FPS gameplay, I really can't enjoy one on a controller, which may be the reverse for someone who ran them only on controller.

What, i never saw something like that before. Why can’t you bind them to new buttons? Why would I even consider using double press on my keyboard instead of using it’s own key. Crazy thoughts and if it would help you out they should really think about that but as an experienced m&k player I don’t see the benefits of having that
