This will probably fall on deaf ears, but I think that the nerfs to ability uptime could be easily offset by increasing ability damage in PvE. Continuing to nerf cooldowns without doing anything else is only going to make the game less fun to play.
I think most players (deep down) are fine with y'all trying to make the shooter aspect more prominent. But there needs to be a tradeoff. What most people don't want is for their builds and ability usage to be completely irrelevant.
I'd be fine with getting one grenade every three minutes if you told me that it would be a nuke whenever I used it.

Edited by More Power: 1/5/2024 2:59:54 PMI watched a grand master nightfall on YouTube last night that was completed in less than 6 minutes - without cheese. Holy cow! As I was watching, I thought how Bungie will respond to their GMs getting smashed like that, and how they’ll likely nerf something to slow them down, while forgetting that 99.8% of people are nowhere near that good.

Definitely buff ability damage in PVP, make every powered melee and grenade OHK, and make grenade explosions x3 in scale and damage.
-
Yeah, they did that. Cooldowns are based on damage and effectiveness. Do you even play the game or do you just not pay attention?
-
I completely agree with this. Abilities have way too long of a cooldown now for them to be used and their damage is not high to go with it. The only exception to this would basically be Thundercrash with it's exotic and Golden Gun with it's exotic as well. I say they shouldn't have even nerfed Well and Bubble's cooldowns because all it does for PvE is make it take longer to get your super that you are only really using for dps phase. If they want me to be using weapons more, they best make weapons viable in harder activities as I have not had any real enjoyment with just poking away at a boss with a dinky little pistol because ammo drops for special and heavy are still rare even with ammo finders. I just want to be able to have fun with all sides of the game, yet Bungie decided that I should only have fun with basically the least fun side of the game.

2 RepliesNo. Abilities are why a lot of us even bother with the game. There are 100s of other games that allow you to shoot the same guns non stop at the same things. Gunplay is stale, boring, and lacks the grandiose feeling of power you get when you want to cause mass amounts of mayhem and destruction. Why do you think most exotics serve to enhance the playstyles of various subclasses? People play for the power fantasy and you don't get that by laying on the trigger against the same bullet sponges for minutes at a time.

I play drestiny (credit to Mesa Sean) so I just want to be able to slaughter EVERYTHING and look good doing it. If I could change one thing about the game there would be full length mirrors at every vendor. Then I could choose my guns by how well they match my wardrobe!
-
1 ReplyFair. Bungie lessen's how quickly i can use said ability, then boost the Damage. If you are Rich, please do what Elon did..Buy Bungie and Fix the mess they made.
-
I think not relying so much on abilities would be the better approach.

11 RepliesEdited by Morakx: 1/4/2024 4:45:51 PMHow about no? Abilities are broken op already in this game. They need a nerf. I rarely see anyone even shoot their guns anymore as is with all the broken crutch builds out nowadays. Destiny has lost its entire identity. And the tiny community thats left playing this dead game insists on more and more ability spam that is completely op. Go and play warframe if you want even more ability focused boring combat. Destiny had one massive strength that made it stand out. Gunplay. Why overshadow that more and more? Smh.

Or reverse nerf to cool down and buff damage anyway :)
-
1 ReplyNo. I remember when arc pulse grenades were a menace. Everyone asked them to be nerfed
-
This game desperately needs new power level scaling. Like a torment system from Diablo, link it to guardian ranks. Wow I just solved my burnout from Destiny…
-
Bungie: "no, have fun with Checkmate PVE lmao"
-
I’d rather throw snowballs every 15 seconds than a big rock every 3 minutes, damage doesn’t need a buff
-
16 RepliesIdk, I feel like abilities do decent damage. Gun damage though, especially legendaries, lags behind pretty hard.
-
3 RepliesI agree you have too balance the nerf out in some way I mentioned this you can't nerf us but no trade off that help us due to the nerf in which seems to start to get noticed by players especially in PvE
-
Oh no….. you said the “B” word. Good luck with that. You lucky a….. “ninja”……doesn’t ban you for that.
-
please tell me when? when did they listen to the community? what was made global from what the community wanted? they only do what they want and some of their streamers... (I said some, not all)
-
They actually have stated this is a balancing act. They’ve merged cooldown because the abilities are available too often. If you make them stronger then what’s the point? The current power level dictates the new cooldown. They could have kept the cooldown and made them weaker. Use guns more that’s what I say.

This is simply an opinion and holds no factual statement. I believe they’re trying to bring back the difficulty of the game as it was in Destiny 1. Yes ability damage isn’t high with longer cool downs but we do have infinite ammo in primary weapons. And with the final shape coming we’re supposed to feel helpless against the witness (according to lore). I understand your feeling on this change may make you upset but having everything given to you with ease is going to make the game just as boring. Too easy and you’ll burn through everything and your motivation to play. Too hard and you’ll give up because it’s just not obtainable. With the right stats and perks you can have really good uptime on your abilities. Also use the D2 Compendium to see which perks are better. It’s updated every time there’s nerfs/buffs. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WaxvbLx7UoSZaBqdFr1u32F2uWVLo-CJunJB4nlGUE4/htmlview#gid=1158705568

Ability spamming already is better than using your guns. Abilities (overall, not to say there aren’t some outliers that could use the help) are still incredibly strong and spamming them is still the best way to succeed in PvE in basically everything below GM (where many, but not all, ability spam builds start to fall off). Buff legendary primaries and especially stasis/strand weapons.
-
We’re already powercrept as is. No need to buff damage when there’s a million different ways to speed up or make cooldowns near instantaneous
-
3 RepliesEdited by Kouz_MC: 1/4/2024 7:05:43 AMI’d rather have radiant, devour, unraveling rounds, threadlings popping everywhere by just hitting targets with a strand weapon, or not even a strand weapon, trigger voltshot amid a fog of scorching, ignitions and volatile rounds, rather than ability uptime. I understand people upset about pvp sliding into more gun than ability fights. However whoever is complaining about pve needs to take some time to read the artifact descriptions, and use a little brains in terms of weapon perks.

3 RepliesArc sticky nades literally nukes players but it’s hard to use. People will always gravitate towards easy to use abilities or low cooldown than the ones that have long cooldowns or actually take skill to use. I personally feel grenades are honestly in a really good spot, they deal a good amount of damage and they all have their use. They shouldn’t define your kills, they should enhance them. I always get multi kills with a good grenade toss.

Not in PvP for sure
