I feel like it's missing it was in early D2 and that and suddenly it just went i 100% think it should come back having different scopes and having no scopes on weapons really added so much more to the weapon

Edited by One Shot Ted: 1/3/2024 8:01:44 AMYeah, there are quite a few guns that I just won't use based on sights/scopes alone. Honestly, sights/scopes, stocks, and barrels should just go in mod slots (with certain compatibility restrictions based on the weapon). They're literally just weapon modifications, so I find it strange that they are determined at the time they drop and can never be changed.

would nice if we could have sights as well as barrels just imagine weapons 3.0 where you can customize sights, barrels, mags, ammo, stocks and grips all on the same gun hell even let us adjust zoom and the reticle when you ads
-
Imagine having 3 versions of every weapon. A long range variant that had scope options, short range with mag options, and mid range with barrel options. Each variant would still have their normal perk pool but the first tier would vary due to the weapon variant.

Except they had to choose between barrels and sights. And Barrels >>>>>>

More that one sight option on a weapon? That would be an overdelivery.

1 ReplyAgree. We still have it on a few exceptions but other than that everything being "normalized". I would go as far as to say it's a symptom of our times - egalitarianism. Though I am afraid it is/was purely driven by financial/resource constraints.
-
Didn’t they say something about it taking too many resources or something?

They shifted over to barrel options a couple years ago. Now range effected by zoom is normalized, so outside of visual zoom, it no longer influences range dropoff. There are some weapons that I just dont like the scope on, and others that I really like. D1 and early D2, the sight/scope changed how the weapon performed considerably, and you could almost have 2 different weapons with just a sight change. One that was good in the mid-range, and one that excelled in the longer ranges. Now, the weapon archetype kind of dictates the performance, and the zoom is kind of standardized for that archetype regardless of what visual scope is on the weapon. The scope used on weapons now is just a visual thing rather than stats that change the feel/use of the weapon. I feel that it was a step backwards to remove sight options, but after the range normalization that happened, the effect that zoom has on weapons is greatly reduced so the way that scopes effect the stat package would have needed to be updated.

3 RepliesWhy do we have to have a choice between scopes or barrels? Why not both?
-
Agreed.

Weapon customization in this game is actually horrible. Yeah we have crafting but every single weapon feels the exact same

Edited by NerfPaladins06: 1/2/2024 8:37:05 AMI miss short range scopes on snipers. I'm not a very adept sniper with long range ones. Would love to see a weapon perk system akin to a mix of D1 and 2 where you have a choice of 3 of each scope/sight/barrel/grip/mag, and 2 perks in each collumn.

3 RepliesAlso bring back Drop Mag. There was nothing wrong with that perk
