I realize there are concerns about players not being able to work together or avoid griefing but seriously, after this weekend without LFG it is abundantly clear the game would benefit from some matchmaking for endgame content. I had to resort to spamming the local chat of the tower for people to run the new dungeon, and that’s not really ideal.
Either that or sell friends on Eververse for 1000 silver a piece. 🙃

I say go for it. It's 2022, this game is ancient, why not have optional matchmaking?
-
Not to raids
-
Sure as long as I still have the option to run things solo.
-
4 RepliesThis is so easy to implement too. Require 10+ raid completions to unlock matchmaking for the specific raid. Require conquer seal for grandmaster matchmaking. And you can follow that type of requirement for dares, dungeons, ect. It would be easy to implement a system for matchmaking where it’s not 5 people who never touched a raid and one veteran in matchmaking. All these people saying “imagine blueberry’s” and saying how bad it would be are not looking at the bigger picture of how it can be an unlock system per game mode.

LFG is basically MM, I ran a few GMs on LFG before this season, nobody was using a mic. You need coms for Raids, and it makes Dungeons go more smoothly, but everything else should have MM.
-
2 RepliesIf Bungie add it don't come to the forum to complain about the teammates you get.
-
1 ReplyAnd OPT OUT for stuff I can solo/two man. Sick of chasing Speedy Gonzalez and getting yanked
-
And add a spectator mode to matchmade raids Because I wouldn't play one, but would love to watch the chaos , while listening to Benny Hill music
-
Would be a great addition to the game only of you can promise : -players wont come crying because they get bad mates. -bungie wont listen to those players and rework all raids and dungeons mechanics so its doable with bad team mates. (Because there is no way some activities are possible to get done with matchmaking...meaning no coms and sabotaging players (on purpose or not) And also...how would it work if you get a leaver in a raid or dungeon ? I doubt anybody would like to join an ongoing dungeon or raid. (Ik i wouldnt)

4 RepliesHell no that would be awful
-
6 RepliesUh you do realize we’re getting an in-game LFG for this EXACT reason when Lightfall drops in a little over two months? Why is this still a topic for discussion?
-
they cant even get it right in activities where they HAVE matchmaking.
-
Edited by Illuminary: 12/15/2022 5:37:33 PM109 thumbs up tells me 109 people haven't used the LFG tool for master wellspring type activities in the beginning of a season when you're massively under light. We had one dude leave mid activity and we even completed it. Match making for everything will be a complete waste of time for most people as half the group will leave first sight of wrong. The in game LFG tool should have been here since day one, but better late than never. "Maybe" optional match making but you're still going to have a ton of bad runs. People who play WoW/SWTOR/FFXIV already know this.

Edited by THA_3rd_GUY: 12/15/2022 7:56:20 PM2nd run I did of Spite was with randoms and we were all micless.

Legend nightfalls (especially if loadout lock was removed) ditto legend seasonal activities I could see being ok with a light level requirement You can just rocket spam champions you don’t have mods for anyway For raids dungeons and gms. Just no. People can’t get through 8 minutes of gambit or control without quitting and you expect them to do a raid with no comms; hard pass Division 2 did dumbed down mm raids that could be beaten with no comms. They were a complete failure and gave no value towards normal raids. Given how destiny works the devs would see the forums Crying about not finishing raids/quitters in mm and would dumb down the end game content even more than it already is. Hard pass
-
6 RepliesThere isn’t one good reason to not have matchmaking on all activities. These fanboys are being so dramatic when they whine about destiny endgame being too complex for matchmaking.
-
“What about a new legendary sparrow?”
-
3 RepliesI say let it happen. To hell with player experience overall. Let their first raid be such a disasterpiece that they never even try again. Let them matchmake into master/GM nightfalls where blueberries don't even have proper mods equipped so they don't want to do that again. They will learn why LFG is the way it is now. At the end of the day, those that use LFG will still use LFG. And those that don't want to will most likely suffer until they do use it too.

I see both sides of the argument. However I can’t help to see this as: Bungie doesn’t want to implement more MM for whatever reason and forced the community into a third party LFG since vanilla destiny. All LFG really accomplished is being a manual MM that the individual players must complete. That to me is just BS. It really is. I don’t want to add this persons name invite oh wait they are not there anymore add another name. Or another invite this then again then oh they have 3 can’t do that we need 2 then you find out no one knows what they are doing anyway so might as well been MM the whole time. Like wake up. LFG is manual MM. Bungie just made you do the work for them.

3 RepliesEdited by Kenny: 12/14/2022 10:29:46 AMYes, however for endgame stuff like Raids, Dungeons or GMs it needs to work differently than for Vanguard Strikes or Dares. It has to be kinda like in Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. For example, you wanna have a matchmade Raid. Ok, you create a lobby, you set up the requirements like light level or the amount of clears and then simply open it for public matchmaking. Only the people who fulfill said requirements can join you. Also it is still your lobby, so if someone is being toxic or stupid you can kick that person. It's basically a faster more streamlined LFG.
-
Once you get 3 completions of an activity you can use matchmaking. Matchmaking should have a ready checkbox with a 30 second autostart timer.
-
1 ReplyEdited by BraddyBo: 12/15/2022 6:07:04 AMNot for raids or gm nightfalls but everything else sure. Reworking guided games for raids and gm nf’s would be a good way to add matchmaking to those modes, give double loot to the guides for successful guiding.
-
1 ReplyAND MAKE IT OPTIONAL. like for example, I would like to run Vanguard Ops solo...
-
Edited by pacificdune: 12/15/2022 6:36:38 AMThe blind matchmaking on strikes would not really work, but I think there are some other creative ideas mentioned…. It was also mentioned that this was coming, but not sure exactly when. For tough content you do need to be able to kick people for not communicating, intentionally throwing, very poor play or things like that.
-
Please don’t, some people enjoy doing things solo.
