I believe the concept of "flawless" is outdated, just make it 7 wins

Thoughts? Makes it more accessible to everyone, reduces toxicity, and doesn't divide the player base. Edit 1 "Trials is not meant to be accessible to everyone" My response is that maybe that should change? Trials is always the subject of controversy, paid carries, recovs, cheating, card resetting Its simply not working well, trials player base divided and getting smaller as the season goes on. Making it 7 wins allows even more people to keep coming back for the "roll" they want. Instead now its all about toxicity, ego building, and youtubers making content and showing how they help people, and any discussion is met with "skill issue" Not to mention the youtubers making their "1st impression videos" of an adept gun in rumble to show off etc like thats all trials loot is, just make it more accessible, im not saying my solution is the only way but what else can we do? It simply cannot stay the way it is now.... Right? Edit 2 To people saying "no we dont need participation trophies" Your concept is completely wrong, for it to be a "participation trophy" it would require to COMPLETE 7 matches, not WIN 7 matches. C'mon its not that hard to use your brain. Edit 3 Other than the manyyy people whining, and not making sense, saw some cool ideas. - making it 25wins(none flawless ofc) while this could be an option, will be a grind thogh but some people might like that. (Could even remove flassless pool from this method) -every 2 match wins grants a mercy for the next loss(remove flawless pool? Or keep it? -remove flawless pool and make it so losses applies a -1 to the requirment of 7 wins for the lighthouse. Edit 4 (FINAL EDIT) No one, not one single person could come up with any logical reason as to why trials shouldn't change, rather just posted walls of text and rants about "participation medals" and "trial will lose its prestige" and ofc the kids who say "then i want GMs to auto complete when i load in" You have failed to address the glareing issues that trials has -Recovs -Paid Carries -Card Resetting -K/D farmers, Stat Merchants -Decrease in player base every week -Pools splitting the player base Trials, as the season goes on just becomes a youtubers content machine, 'helping x go flawless, can we get it?" Or "we matched x in trials while doing carries" It is clear, that trials is not working , no one can deny that, but i know those who are hell bent on keeping trials the way it is will make unrealistic comparisons to GMs or whatever they can grasp at. My suggestion was to make it more accessible and worthwhile for people to return week in, week out but the amount of backlash with no logical reasoning is very concerning. I do see that there are also so many people who do agree that trials needs to change. An interesting take on it is also going on in reddit for anyone curious https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/vs2ypp/skill_creep_is_eating_trials_again/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

The fact that this has 100 likes is BAFFLING. This game sucks because of the community I’m convinced at this point. Nobody would say this about GMs or raids, this is ridiculous. Complete the task or don’t get the loot, stop killing the game. Everyone else does it, so should you. This was NEVER an issue in D1.

I feel ya man. But folks are basically just gonna tell you, either in a nice way or a blunt way that you are bad and just need to get good. Not everyone is meant to go flawless, and that we just want loot handed to us.

No, just put in effort to get better and earn your endgame loot, same points can be made about other endgame content with recovs and paid carries as just a couple raid clears makes you one of the top 10% of players with clears, weird how even in PvE "lack of accessibility" have the same issues. And not "lack of accessibility", its VERY accessible, as in you just have to put in effort and time and actually want to impove in order to get endgame loot. It's bad enough the last few raids have been heavily catered to players who don't want to improve and have been cakewalks with braindead mechanics. Clearly endgame content is made for players who are willing to improve and actually put in the time to get better, instead of those who just complain to make the game easier, yall really don't help. Minimizing skill gap is never a good thing and dumping on those who actually try and put time into the game will ultimately kill it. Get gud really is the only good answer to posts like these with outlandish suggestions, players making the assumption that they are entitled to ALL loot drops is insulting, it's not gatekeeping, the loot is right there, now put some actual time and effort to earn it.

      • I would like to pull out a few single points I want to just really disprove some of the others who try say no to this A: trials as a endgame just really does not feel like it, unfortunately it’s just a bit more frustrating when you feel your hard work so all for not for a lot of reasons First: you can get a trash Adept weapon and be stuck fighting people who do it easily while you got yours by luck (just a hypothetical) Second: what the op said about carries and ect Third: the reward, it’s not worth it at all B: pvp and pve end game B First: when it comes down for it weapons from endgame pve, like timelost or adepts are actively used more to get to flawless, meaning verdict timelost and fatebringer timelost would be a lot more useful, meaning pve wins since it takes them to get the loot B second: comparing the two is so wrong in the first place pve is you vs adds that can be fooled by invisibly and all the exotics that have not been nerfed in pve, then along with planning and knowledge it’s pretty easy after a few runs B third: ideals, each person has a idea I am one that thinks more of enjoyment over then feeling some sort of pride of these weapons, I just did a gm and got the sniper with a lot of range but I didn’t really have a reason to care C: time since how the way trials currently works the average players need to wait for around 2 or so days to not fight them, if I am right

      • Out of the 500+ responses there isn't a single valid true thought out argument, something that makes sense makes you think and just isn't blatant "yOuRE fuKiN bAD gEt gUD" Not 1, not 1 argument against this. Out of 500 responses...

        • I think a good balance would be 11 wins, or 7 straight wins. It would keep the flawless system in for quick access, but you could still go for 11 staggered wins if you screw up.

        • Makes sense overall. The problem has always been the mindset of the Trials community. They view it as "their" gamemode not a PVP gamemode. The only problem with that logic is that there arent enough competitive minded players to sustain Trials. Bungie went through a lot of effort to make Trials accessible to the mass majority of the playerbase only for elitist players to drive them away. Until that changes Trials is destined to fail.

          • Hard no, The only difference between 7 wins flawless and 7 non-flawless is a cosmetic or two, a golf ball, and an adept weapon - as opposed to just a weapon when non-flawless. The only 'significant' difference is with the weapon, that difference being access to adept mods. Which is at best a +10 to a stat of your choice. To open up the Lighthouse to everyone, killing the illusion of prestige and competition in the gamemode, just for the sake of some extra range or whatever for those bad enough at the game for this change to make a difference? Not worth it imo. Would turn the gamemode into a grind rather than a challenging and fun activity. And it is a fun activity - if you don't find it enjoyable then step back, and go back with a healthier mindset. It's a game, enjoy it.

            • I’m okay with this. Destiny has never in the slightest felt actually competitive. I stopped playing trials just because of how aggravating going solo can be. …and give raids OPTIONAL matchmaking

            • I'd argue it defeats the whole point of the mode. Not really a "trial" if everybody is doing it and if everybody has the ability to earn the top of the line gear. But even with the comment I made, it's not like you are excluded in any fashion from earning the normal variants of the weapons that are way more farmable and have barely less capabilities in the first place. End games modes, no matter how cheesy, should be respected as such because otherwise they are just a different loot drop like their normal modes.

                          • Isn’t that kind of the point now. Literally anyone is welcome to just play to 7 wins and continue playing for better rewards after 7 wins (on tickets that literally last forever now). The lighthouse and adept weapons should be for those who complete the trial, not those that manage to take 4.5 days to win 7 games.

                            • Or how about keep the current seasons trials loot pool for people that go 7-0. And the previous seasons loot pool for people that get 7 wins, doesn’t matter if they loose matches just 7 wins on a card. It would keep the flawless people happy having a full season of new weapons to themselves But would also let people that are not good at the game to still claim the season before loot. This would actually force Bungie to introduce new loot every season.

                            • Trials has always been a detriment to the game ever since they introduced it back in House of Wolves. I'd say just get rid of it and add the loot to the crucible loot pool but hey, that's just me. I hate the fact that Trials attempts to make this game a competitive scene but it never really is that way. It's always sweats and try hards using nothing but meta weapons which really downplays/dumbs down all the diversity and gameplay this game has to offer. I feel this game mode is a remnant of when Activision was still over them and they were trying to please them with a competitive game mode to "keep players active" and to "keep up the MAU" inside the game or else they would lose their funding.

                              • Keeping the flawless title would be fair, but changing the lighthouse access to 7 wins and allowing 7 win flawless cards to keep getting adept drops would also be fair. For most who don’t live in pvp trials tends to result in an 80%+ loss rate when solo queuing so those 7 wins take potentially several hours while I could farm multiple GM’s in the same time. For an adept. Even if you do go flawless it’s probably going to take more time than 1-3 GM’s unless your team stomps all 7 games 5-0. Trials needs help and saying “it’s not meant for everyone” is impractical given it’s a game and higher user base helps it thrive.
