My guess is crafting will be super limited. You won't be able to craft all the perks on it, because that would make people less likely to farm weapons put into the game. I also strongly believe it will be heavily monetized, like transmog. I think we will have limits on our crafting which you can increase by paying silver. I think they will make it take FOREVER to master a weapon or whatever in order to craft it. They said using a weapon will allow it to be opened for crafting or something, so I think they'll monetize that by allowing you to lessen the grind in some way with silver. I think that people looking at crafting as a positive for the game are completely ignoring the fact that it isn't being added to make the game better, it's being added so Bungie can monetize it. They don't add stuff to make the game better. They only add it if it can make money.
