I don’t mean to come off as a hypercritical arse from the title, but the game as of late REALLY feels like it doesn’t have that finesse that radiated from previous years. If anything, it feels like its diminishing.
I understand its difficult to develop and create games, but the amount of revenue this game generates barely reflects the content we get in return. Is there a complacency that no matter what's thrown at players they’ll buy it anyways?
The quality of the game has gone down considerably over the years. All the QOL aspects of Destiny 1 were torn away, such as strike specific loot and armor, strike STREAKS which reward more you stay in, rerolling masterworked armor and weapons, arms day.... Content is taken away in large numbers and we’re forced to PAY for a reduction in content.
There hasn’t been a proper vendor refresh for a year. It has been 558 DAYS since a new crucible map has dropped. How on earth are we paying for expansions/battle passes and we can’t even get ONE new map? At least with strikes we get some back, albeit old ones and the enemies not even being updated (house of dusk in the house of devils area and being labeled as “devils”...)
Enemies are boring. We’ve fought the same enemies for, how many years? Cabal have been Red Legion for almost 4 years despite most content depicting them as not Red Legion. Taken are reskins. Wouldn’t it be cool if taken could merge together and form to form an abomination if you left them on the field for too long? Or, how about giving our ships some ability to do dog combat in a specific game mode instead of being a load screen?
We haven’t had new iron banner armor for 2 YEARS. TWO. YEARS. Is it REALLY that hard to import some of the assets from D1 instead of giving us the same armor we’ve gotten for 6 seasons now? The system for Iron Banner sucks as well. Always control, no clash, nothing else to break away from the constant mercies that always happen. Aside from Iron Banner, it would be nice to just inject the game with older armor sets into other vendors as well. No one would complain *too* much since they're visually better than most armor in THIS game.
Trials is a mess. Cheaters are almost CONSTANT (On PC. Not sure about console), especially when Igenous Hammer is in rotation. Recovery accounts are constantly a thing and honestly should be banned. It feels like there hasn't been anything done to deal with them aside from banning the cheaters who give themselves heavy and super at the beginning of the match.
If you want a specific weapon, good luck because the loot pool is disorganized as well. Why not make it like D1 where you had specific weapons and armor pieces dropping? Why not make Lost Sectors have a legendary option that rotates a world drop daily? Or, how about D1 Iron Banner having specific armor and weapons for a week? It made Iron Banner more fun to farm knowing you’ll most likely get that gun you REALLY want instead of getting a class item for the fourth time.
The armor design choices from Destiny 1 to 2 took a major nose dive. There was a clear theme with post-apocalyptic themes applied to armor while retaining a bit of sci-fi. In Destiny 2, its gone off to the extreme end; Warlocks and Titans are the biggest downgrades in the visual department. Titans are stuck with a goofy, giant pauldrons while Warlocks got dresses instead of dusters and coats, the pauldrons FUSED to the chest piece and making fashion for warlocks extremely linear. Not to mention the weird window face Warlocks constantly get stuck with. What on earth happened to the cool armor? I mean look at the cool Titan in D1... https://i.ytimg.com/vi/BJoCA93XEOo/maxresdefault.jpg
...compared to this... https://i.pinimg.com/originals/e0/87/c3/e087c3e8ccdd2b55b2b457b231064372.jpg
And last, but not least, the vicious FOMO this game is afflicted with. Those cool season one, two, and three ornaments from Trials of the Nine/IB/Faction/Crucible/Vanguard have yet to return. It was never explicitly stated that these would never come back, and I have a sliver of hope Monuments to Lost Light will return these things since it states weapon AND armor is put in there. Yet, no return. That and the terrible battle pass model basically preys on the consumers FOMO and forces them to play. Each season is getting one exotic ornament rather than two in previous seasons, and they're being done for armor pieces that usually already have one. Veritys Brow and Frost-E's haven't had an ornament for 4 years...
I could go on but I’m just tired and this is mostly a rant that’ll get downvoted. I love Destiny, but it feels like its potential is squandered for what it could be. It feels like its just become a revenue machine rather than something innovative and exciting

Edited by Digibluez: 6/23/2021 9:02:13 AMonly thing i come back to are the tiny weekly story bits, and god those are getting awful, all same blah blah some one is plotting, unending night blah blah,, go gind some more game mode guardian, literally same lines from last weeks, and how long do you need to stall for 1 new boss 7 years?

1 ReplyEdited by thatdudeEd54: 6/20/2021 5:46:10 AMThere's passion in the game for sure. But not in the entirety of the game. Your right most of the pvp side of things have been neglected for a long time, add Gambit in there too. We can also add armor designs that aren't eververse or season pass related. Only a handful of armor sets look pretty good that aren't tied to spending irl money However the story telling, the end game content of Destiny such as raids, dungeons, Exotic missions, and Grandmaster nightfalls. The lore and the effects we see in the game as hints and teases from long ago are finally taking some form of action as the seasons goes by. The creativity in new weapons and exotics, as well as the sandbox. The environmental art, the skybox, and the music That right there is where the passion is in the game
-
Storyline is better, content is worse. Seasons instead of DLCs and returning D1 crap ruin what little bit they do add into the game. Drip feeding content and re-exploring the same planets and strikes is 100% lame.

1 ReplyEver since shadowkeep, this game is a pure cash cow and bungie doesn't care about its reputation anymore. As long as there are enough whales that spend a chunk of their salary on cosmetics and whatnot, they will continue down this route.
-
5 RepliesWhy have passion for the game when you can sell cheap, Chinese shit toasters for $85?
-
19 RepliesIts you. There is a lot of passion put into the story. Of course if you skip all dialogues it doesnt seem like it.
-
6 RepliesGenerally feels like there's no passion put into games period anymore. All about the money and nothing else.

1 ReplyI can’t put my finger on exactly when.. Opulence maybe ? But I truly think it was BA. Backing off multiple DLCs a year as a model then dropping Shadowkeep really killed the growing Destiny universe feeling for me. Probably because it was the moon which I spent so much time on in D1 and the content was insanely light compared to forsaken. Getting no big pop after that then waiting all the way to BL.. yikes. I had that feeling for about 3 weeks in BL. That Destiny was excited again and there was so much to do. That quickly turned into log in once a week for Augments and a Penguin. I don’t think I’ve ever once equipped Splintered either despite doing everything to get it day 1. I was so blah by the time I got it I didn’t even care. The lack of new paint in core activities is slowly sucking the life out of the game. Even missions for quests or special events that are new seem repetitive when they are played in the same strikes. GMs being the exact same makes it bleed over into the Uber time gated endgame even. Destiny simply used to have more new content. Even if there were droughts it was more new for longer. Also I think there is much less to seasons than popular opinion suggests. If GMs were available earlier you would see even bigger player fall off. The time hating if seasons make them feel barebones. Without it it would be shocking how little things had changed. And I say that being pleasantly surprised at this seasons activity and the weapons from the Splicer activities. Basically if it’s not endgame or exploration it’s boring to me. And that is the content they have cut back/hold back on the most

1 ReplyHow would you come off being hypocritical? Did you say something to the contrary in the past?

2 RepliesEdited by an Ape with a d2 addiction: 6/21/2021 11:30:58 AMthe amount of revenue this game generates barely reflects the content we get in return. Yes. It's working rather perfectly for the studio. Practically a golden goose of monetization maintained with low new content volumes and a very extreme amount of content recycling. Why change?

Nope, I've felt this way about D2 for a while now. I loaded up D1 recently and just the atmosphere alone was so much more intense than anything in D2. It really feels like the drive just isn't there anymore and it's all about making x amount of cash instead. I understand that it's a business and all but there's a balance and the game is way off on the wrong side of that. For me at least. I don't doubt that there's still good devs at Bungie who do want to make awesome content and sometimes we see a glimmer of that here and there, but obviously the people making the decisions have thier idea of what the game should be and everyone else has to fall in line. It's a shame that idea is just....soulless. I still pop on occassionally because the gunplay is good but most of the time it's just a sad reminder of how much potential has been squandered. I really feel that if a another game came out matching the level of gunplay Bungie has, Destiny could really be in big trouble.

3 RepliesThe decision to make D2 F2P signalled the beginning of the franchise’s game direction to provide substantially less new content and rely on reskins from D1 to offset the lack of creative development. Then throw in the Seasonal model incorporating FOMO to drive player engagement and get the F2P crowd to reach for their wallets. Destiny remains profitable and the overhead/staff required by Bungie in terms of resources has been downsized and allocated to working on the new title. Simply put. D2 is now simply a cash grab. The vision to expand, create, develop, is presumably alive and well with the new title but is no longer the main focus for the Destiny franchise. Having said all this negative crap, D2 is easily the best FPS loot game in the genre. Nothing that’s been developed in the last 5 years can touch it.

Passion died awhile ago

It's you.
-
3 RepliesEdited by Jai_Ex: 6/19/2021 11:02:55 PMNo, it's not jus you. They've lost their passion after season of opulence. That's why I barely play. People say taking a break from the game helps, but it really doesn't it did back in the day. But today, the game is worse than it was back then. I'm not even gonna buy witch queen unless I know for sure it's gonna be good. This companies not getting anymore money from me unless they do some major changes to the game. I'd never thought I'd say this back then but, rn... I wish the franchise would just end already.

Obviously. Ever since Activision ditched them, they slowly started transforming a quality franchise into a money making cash cow f2p shell of Destiny. That's not crying or stating an opinion. Thats the sad truth. We had way way more and better content TWO years ago in Destiny 2. Everything either got deleted or left behind for the sake of reducing the games download size, making it so free to play players can download and access the game easier. More f2p players = more money with mtx's. Everything is structured around that now. The only vendor getting updated is still the eververse lady (no, giving banshee weekly static rolls of world loot thats been dropping like candy since 2018 isn't a vendor update and no, the transmog lady that makes you grind for 50 hours to transmog 1 item (or buy it for 3 bucks) isn't either. No updates to playlist content in 2-3 years, a fortnite battle pass + chore list every season with a reissued activity and more reissued guns every season. To summarize, no mate, you are not trippin, this game objectively got left behind, has a skeleton crew doing the least of efforts they can to satisfy mtx sales to finance their upcoming games.

4 RepliesThis games been on the back burner ever since they left Activision. Now they can cashapp this game while they put all there recources into their new game. Of course no ones gonna buy it with the amount of bs they do with this game with little to no effort they put into it.
-
There hasn't been passion put into the game in years. Destiny is just a money cow for Bungo to milk until they finish their next IP.
-
8 RepliesIt's not just this game, look at madden, fifa, nba 2k,cod,cyberpunk.These companies don't even care about pleasing the people playing their games. They just wanna squeeze as much money out of us gamers as possible while putting little to no effort into content
-
it is horrible, they tease some big enemy and make it slow sluggish 5 season windup with content inbetween that has nothing to do with it. only reason ppl still come back is the few lore bits they put in lore pages, that barely anyone reads
-
I sadly have to agree i love destiny but it has been going down since free-to-play was released I really hope that ether Witch queen is more developed then we thought and they are adding lots of stuff to spice everything up or bungie takes time away from seasonal content and in lightfall they have a huge QoL update fixing everything in this game. I really want to love this game but nowadays it’s getting hard too
-
The story is the best it has ever been since stasis
-
5 RepliesYou are correct but just imagine the effort it took to design stasis. The entire new subclass system that it is..... Now think about what it currently is. Not even a shell of the light based subclasses after the nerf fest. How do you really think those who worked on stasis feel about putting in effort now?
-
I agree with pretty much everything besides the Taken one, though by now perhaps they should’ve introduced some more variants, like Taken Dregs or some Scorn. If one thing has stayed from Destiny 1 though, the story and art/music team has been pumping out some great stuff, maybe even better than Destiny 1, though there’s a lot less mystery than the first. Imagine if the people who worked on Music of the Spheres was still around.

how about giving our ships some ability to do dog combat in a specific game mode instead of being a load screen?
That's warframe, you get your own wings as angel of death in space with space guns and big melee
-
It's not just you, while the story and lore have gotten much better the last two seasons, the game play is still rather boring. Some of the newer guns especially this season are very good and gun play itself is still great but the general qol is still shit. Frome the crappy level grinding to artifact and general mod issues as a whole It's getting ridiculous. And that's not even including the sorry state of Crucible and Gambit. While I do a decent amount of PVE, I'm mostly a PVP person since that is the only thing that does change on a per match run and frankly I still hate the metas and balancing in the game since it's mostly just a special weapons and abilities spam anymore. With Halo Infinite coming out soon I'm hoping that it will cut into Bungies profits enough that they will finally start fixing the neglected game modes and adding in some other ones especially with crossplay coming. I would love to see a primaries only mode for instance In Crucible or maybe a Hoard mode for PVE player's to show off their skills. As of right now it's just the same recycled shit over and over again.
