some people don't understand economics

im seeing comments saying bungie is being greedy with the transmog system okay here's the thing lets push the hate to the side and talk economics. bungie is now a business that means they have to pay for their employees, equipment, rent on their office building, to platforms to allow their products to be disturbed to consumers. the problem here isn't bungie is you lot you don't seem to grasp the idea that little profit means cuts and layoffs for bungie meaning less quality for products being made the way most or some of the posts boil down to remove eververse and cap fro transmog now have those that made the posts thought about the long term here? no? then maybe you should

What you don’t seem to understand they had record earnings in 2020 according to the CEO and they hired 300 new people during a global pandemic and economic collapse. Those 300 new people aren’t working on destiny, they’re working on their new IP with net ease They’re doing JUST fine The average Bungie salary is $110000 before bonuses. If even every single (currently active) player in this game paid 50 cents for transmog one time - they would still make a profit. %90 of the ground work for this system was already in place. The artists who designed and modeled the armor have already been paid for their work. The ornament system already existed. All that needed to be done was converting existing models to ornaments and creating a UI for it. There is no way in hell that cost more than $1m - which would be 10 employees working around the clock for an entire year We have been paying more, and more and more for less and less and less. Everything is recycled content. Everything is reskinned or recycled gear. Everything has been going downhill since forsaken and Bungie is making more money now than EVER before We have every right to be pissed because this isn’t about paying the bills and keeping the lights on it’s about creating a predatory system that will generate tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars - for something that cost them virtually nothing while they’re putting virtually nothing into this game If every single currently active player were to buy even one transmog set they would generate over 70 million dollars on that alone. There’s a difference between selling something new and selling something we basically already paid them for and they took away from us with sunsetting There is NO REASON what so ever why this system HAD to be paid when the very reason we were told eververse exists in the first place was to pay for the development of shit like this So where the -blam!- has all the money from all the ornaments and everything else gone?

    • Imagine defending shitty micro transactions in a game. Need money? Increase the cost of the dlc or season pass. Micro transactions are shit.

It’s why I throw them some money even when I have thousands of bright dust. It’s just money.

      • Well, at least in Warframe you can buy something worth owning. 200 devs and averaging between 50-80k players monthly. 50 million in the player base. Not bad, for the age of the game. Warframe isn't P2W, its more like "Pay to avoid the grind" or "Grind to win". The game's missions can feel extremely repetitive after about 100 hours of playing the game, and at that point most people just play the game to try to get the weapon or loadout that they wanted when they started the game...

People need to understand that we want them to make profit yearly if we want to keep playing.. bungie is damned if they do and damned if they dont.. the trolls creeping these forums will -blam!- about basically everything

          • Lies. They earn so much through us that every Bungie employee lives in a mansion, has a yacht, a private jet and drives a Lamborghini.

            • They're milking players and funneling the money into other projects. The little effort they put into the game goes to the store, which I would e fine with if they were also trying to get $70 dollars on top of that. Seriously I think the people working on the destiny job put a lot of effort into it, but long term they are going to kill the franchise. They need to decide if they want to be free to play or $70 and work on better content. I wonder if they have been working on Destiny 3 or the next-gen version.

            • I will complain about game design choices that are clearly against the player - regardless of economics.

            • Sure is a business, and if bungie wants to sell a bunch of armor on eververse I don't have a problem, as long as it's new armor. No one should have to pay for armor that was Paid for, in an earlier season. You should atleast be able to continuously unlock items, and if you don't want to grind, then pay.

                • I agree. A transmog cap would draw business away from eververse, unless you take kackis’s thoughts into account, but that is to much of a risk to take on a newly implemented system
