The drop rates for Ciphers is so **disastrously** low, that you guys really need to get ahead of this, and offer the player base some sort of explanation. My only hope is that this is some sort of **bug** that manged to get past the quality-testers, and that this wasn't a deliberate strategy.
Rght now its looking like the drop rate for ciphers is less than one per hour of game play, which is simply unacceptable. Not only is this level of **stinginess** (there is simply no other word for it) shocking, it is a worst-case scenario. In that you have both a large loot pool AND a currency that being heavily-throttled.
Result?
I played for several hours yesterday, and managed to get a grand total of 4 Ciphers....and THREE of those were because I played on two characters, played the initial strike, and was lucky enough to get a two-for-one drop on my second character. Three hours of world play---including two 1020 Nightfalls netted me ONE Cipher. The only gun that I received was an Omolon sidearm that has been dropping in the game for THREE years now. WTF?!?!?
Here's what stinginess with rewards costs you:
I LIKE 450 ARs, and had the reward structur for this even been reasonable, I'd have been happy to grind to get good rolls for these weapons to position myself well for the upcoming year and replace the ones I will lose to Sunsetting.
But, given what's going on right now, what WILL happen I will resentfully put in the hours to get the cosmetic items from Eva....and then I'm out.
UNREWARDED grinding IS NOT CONTENT.
Dragging out thin content with super low drop rates will not incentivize players to play more. It will make them angry and cause them TO DISENGAGE from the game.
The player base has been telling you this for years, but you just **stubbornly** refuse to listen......
Why?

Oof. When you get Kelly to speak against Bungo you know things are worst case scenario lmao It’s working as intended. Expect Bungie to say it’s a big in the twab tomorrow.
-
You could say the same thing about NF ordeal rewards and really most core game modes. The rewards aren't worth the effort. I mean hop I to most other MMOs, RPGs, looter shooters and your drowning in loot after each fight

19 RepliesEdited by Starlight Raven: 10/8/2020 3:53:35 AMBecause Bungie knows best. Obviously, you're "understanding" has been removed from their vision. Also, this is a free event. Be thankful Bungie is gracious enough to give you something new to do.

1 ReplyWe should boycott until they increase the drop rate significantly.

They have these types of 'bugs' every event. So it's deliberate. Artaficial grind. 'Forcing' you to play (fomo) on top of that for shit you already have, but just with a diferent number (sunsetting). Enjoy the great ideas bungo has for this game now that they're on their own.👍 Oh and a tip. You can pull the old rolls out of your collection, but now with the new lightlevel cap.

Hell hath frozen over.

4 RepliesNot surprised the comments are full of rabid Bungo defenders

This is why I’m not even bothering with the FotL stuff. Way more trouble than it’s worth.
-
Just throw your ciphers at the screen... Duh..
-
1 ReplyDon’t worry they’ll buff it by 0.04%

They have been stingy in SOOOO many ways since D1 in fact. If I hadn't invested so much money in this game I would have stopped playing it, like so many of my friends.
-
The drop chances need to be really upped that’s all that needs to happen and or get rid of that system and go back to the goodie bags or make a Engram where we have chances of these AR’s instead of 4 weeks of mindless grind for these cyphers

Edited by GisL: 10/8/2020 2:00:33 AMI grind for hours to get at least 5 ciphers for the 5 caches, in the first attempt i gain 1 auto witch i like it, and then i spend more hours to make more 5 ciphers, when i did i do the haunted forest again and get absolutely nothing, the loot was more useless masks, ugly shaders and old stuff with 750 of light... 750 loot!?? Really?? And then i quit the game, this is frustrating and unrewarded, they don't respect our time.

Edited by Kiro - 13: 10/8/2020 1:51:46 AMIm glad Cobalt finally threw in the towel and you joined us doom sayers kelly. Keep in mind cobalt defended the jokers wild season even when bungie eventually came out and said yea bad season. Also the guy thought forsaken OEM and Antaeus Wards were fine as it.

8 RepliesSeeing that people are more interested in the fact that you aren’t defending bungie, instead of what you actually wrote. I have concluded that the average age of b.net users is six years old.

2 RepliesKelly green is old 🤡🍼

19 Replies*Phew* You really are biting the hand which feeds, aren't you? Also, I like how you're suddenly pretending that you've been after Bungie about this for over 5 years. That's cute, but it's nice to have you after all ;)

8 RepliesGood. You finally see. Bungie has failed again.

I booted the game up to find my warlock tethered to a floating hamster wheel. A whisper from the darkness said “the grind will break you.”

2 RepliesEdited by Corrick II: 10/7/2020 4:05:39 PMGoddamn, you nailed it. “Fear”. Bungie has been designing the distribution of game rewards and loot out of pure fear that players will earn too much or get that one “thing” that would make them bored and stop playing. They’ve designed the end product as if they have absolutely NO faith in the simple joy of playing their own game, and are ONLY afraid that players will leave. As a result they’ve been lengthening the stick and decreasing the size of the carrot for YEARS, thinking it would keep the maximum amount of players “engaged”, while actually just infuriating their playerbase. Combine that with a diminishing resource pool and team strength and you end up with the miserly reward system you see now to the point where it is almost painful to open world chests (much less run a raid or nightfall) knowing the result is going to be yet another disappointment. They need to start trusting the core experience of their own game and act as if players won’t just jump the fence at the slightest hint of greener grass. And worse comes to worse if it really IS as bad as they themselves must think it is, then maybe invest some time refactoring what isn’t working (well documented by the community), instead of churning out mediocre content and congratulating themselves for it.

Wahhhh

8 RepliesOk so had anyone here NOT received the weapons prior and are hoping to get them now? IF you received one out of a chest, roll irrelevant, does it unlock the curated roll in collections? I’ve gotten a few random rolls but I’m my collections it only shows curated from previous years Maybe once you get one, the curated rolls become available to pull. Dunno but curious
-
3 RepliesEdited by Wizdead: 10/7/2020 10:50:31 PMThe fact that you can’t buy the weapons from Eva with currency like in the past just plain sucks. Why would they change that to RNG drops with RNG item drops from chests? Make it so we can buy the damn weapons from the vendor! Not a hard thing. Hell if they even dropped with bad luck protection from the forest would make this a “shoot and loot” event in a supposedly shooter/looter game.
-
1 Replyhonestly I decided I wasn't even going to bother with this "event". While the TWAB made it sound great, the reality is just more of the same grind for more of the same gear.
-
Because they are insecure CONTROL FREAKS. The crazy BF that has to constantly know where you are at all times. Because he has zero confidence in himself just like this game! They have zero confidence that people would play just to play without baiting. Just pathetic

4 RepliesSpent my stashed bright dust for that amazing warlock dracula chest in 3 minutes. Then realised I was done with the event's loot thanks to the available non-cash loot <-> required time investment axis. So I got all I wanted. In 3 minutes. From the cash shop. See you in beyond light. No preorders though.
