The drop rates for Ciphers is so **disastrously** low, that you guys really need to get ahead of this, and offer the player base some sort of explanation. My only hope is that this is some sort of **bug** that manged to get past the quality-testers, and that this wasn't a deliberate strategy.
Rght now its looking like the drop rate for ciphers is less than one per hour of game play, which is simply unacceptable. Not only is this level of **stinginess** (there is simply no other word for it) shocking, it is a worst-case scenario. In that you have both a large loot pool AND a currency that being heavily-throttled.
Result?
I played for several hours yesterday, and managed to get a grand total of 4 Ciphers....and THREE of those were because I played on two characters, played the initial strike, and was lucky enough to get a two-for-one drop on my second character. Three hours of world play---including two 1020 Nightfalls netted me ONE Cipher. The only gun that I received was an Omolon sidearm that has been dropping in the game for THREE years now. WTF?!?!?
Here's what stinginess with rewards costs you:
I LIKE 450 ARs, and had the reward structur for this even been reasonable, I'd have been happy to grind to get good rolls for these weapons to position myself well for the upcoming year and replace the ones I will lose to Sunsetting.
But, given what's going on right now, what WILL happen I will resentfully put in the hours to get the cosmetic items from Eva....and then I'm out.
UNREWARDED grinding IS NOT CONTENT.
Dragging out thin content with super low drop rates will not incentivize players to play more. It will make them angry and cause them TO DISENGAGE from the game.
The player base has been telling you this for years, but you just **stubbornly** refuse to listen......
Why?

Wow, Kelly, for once I have to wholeheartedly agree with you! :) This is a real issue, but one which I've become sick of long ago and have been a lapsed player since March this year. I've just had enough of the game overall.
-
They've already confirmed the low drop rate IS a bug, and they're looking into a fix. Relax.
-
I love how all you guys come on here complaining like it does any good, and keep right on logging in and playing, and giving bungie 40 bucks for what should be a 10 dollar dlc. Keep cryin fella's any day now, any day.

1 ReplyI wouldn’t worry about this events guns much. The curated rolls for both guns seem outright better overall in game for both weapons. Light.ggs rolls just how bad their rolls are. None of them can roll with a Damage perk/reload perk. In fact, neither have kill clip, multikill clip, or rampage. I don’t know what Bungie was thinking releasing these guns rolls and their so bad.

I have played D2 for 5613h 11m and D1 for 4588h 8m but i cant do it any more so as the say on Dragons Den I,M OUT ......... STOP PLAYING FOR CHANGE ......... # I,M OUT

I must play too much ohhhh dear
-
Bungie is among the top game developers when it comes to generosity - I mean look, they gave you Eververse and all the beautiful stuff in there....
-
I'm a casual player now days because of work and kids,Shit I can't grind for hours for shitty rewards...Drop rates got to be fixed or I'm out.
-
I got 6 doing strikes day before yesterday and then literally zero yesterday. Very inconsistent

Apparently it’s being sorted.

7 RepliesEdited by mxgreg: 10/8/2020 4:49:25 AMa) It's intentional and they'll pretend that it's not. b) Why have bullsheznet RNG for this? Why not have a guaranteed drop or daily bounties to get the ciphers? c) They won't fix it until the event is almost done. Or they'll say they fixed it only slightly improve the drop rates. I think the event is decent, but I don't want to spend more than about 4 hours a week on something like this. Clearly, that is not enough time to get the 45 ciphers. These season events should be more about having a little fun between playing other games and not grinding for 8 hours a day 7 days a week. *** EDIT *** No it's not hardcore. Doing bounties, the strikes playlist, patrols is not hardcore!!!

I'm a yr1 D1 player - fairly experienced - logged on yesterday for the event - played the first quest - did the first run through the forest - turned off my xbox - don't think I'll be back and your comments sum up exactly why .

Oof this needed a Tldr : drop rates low please fix

1 Reply"Dragging out thin content with super low drop rates will not incentivize players to play more. It will make them angry and cause them TO DISENGAGE from the game." You know the worst part about this? It's that when I logged in after reset, all I was looking forward to doing was grinding out my last two pinnacles to reach 1060 light on my gear, as I had been doing for weeks. However, when I logged in and realised that the heavily marketed ornaments are behind paywalls, and the cypher code drop rate is utterly screwed. I figured okay sweet, at least I don't have to worry about playing the event and can just grind my pinnacles. But then something happened, as I was walking around the tower to get all my bounties. Constantly being reminded of the event with all the decorations, I couldn't get the disgusting taste out of my mouth. It's like every streamer or light just kept screaming "corporate greed! Buy me!" Now I'm all for helping Bungie out by buying things from the ever-verse store, and in the past two months alone I dropped $80 odd for the biggest silver package. Because the things available from the store were simply just there and weren't shoved down our throats. You see, this is different from how the Whisper of the Worm ornament practically paid for the Zero Hour mission. Which is a great story and makes me glad I am helping to support Bungie by purchasing things from the cash shop. But when that sort of stuff leaks out of the shop and into the marketing of the game or into the game world itself via decorations. It left me wondering why I'm even wasting my life grinding out to get to max light when in a month it wont mean anything anyway? As Kelly said, you caused me to become completely disengaged from the game. Great job.

Honestly when it comes to something like this, I would've expected something like this if the event were to be going on from last month till now. I mean sure we had a partly month of literally NOTHING (which is how Among Us ended up jumping to the top of the gamer streaming lists). However considering that there's going be LESS THAN A MONTH of this event, and with 263+ (and loads of reply comments on this thread alone), Bungie, you've got to get your act together. Now we all know that everyone is working from home, and that things are harder than normal when it comes to everything (i.e. putting the game with motion capture, integrating the music together (since everyone is doing their music from home these days), and making sure that the coding for the game is just right (because lord forbid that opening day we have issues galore, yes that's sarcasm, given that we have issues literally EVERY time that we have a new DLC come out, nothing's perfect)). However I was actually looking forward to this event, and given that the drip rate of cyphers is crap (I honestly expected one to drop at the end of a strike that I completed (nope NOT happening). Instead as soon as I got back to earth and then helped with a public event the moment that I got there. Right after it finished and I couldn't get it to flip to heroic, THAT was when I got a cypher!! No, this level of lack of cyphers that we're getting is beyond pale. Shoot I even looked up ways to farm them in order to get them faster, nope, still not happening. So come on, if you guys really ARE listening to us here. Then get into the dang coding, and change something up to up the level of Cyphers that we're getting here. Otherwise it's going to once again drive the players away (and I'm thinking right back into the hands of Among Us), and we all know you don't want that.

Why dont you do one of your long winded replies about the parallels of recent destiny game design and mobile gatcha games? I love how you suddenly make a post about things the community has been saying for years 😂

18 RepliesKelly maaaaad Wanna talk about the absurdity that is the needless change to the Haunted forest in the first place?
-
9 RepliesEdited by BC1 Edge: 10/8/2020 1:07:07 AMI think bungie will come out and say it was a “bug” but the reality is that it was intentional for the drop rate to be that bad to increase grind time. This way they can also look like the good guys “we listened to the community and we increased the drop rate”

One day I knew Bungie would unscrew your head and shit down your neck. This is that day. Welcome to knowing how the rest of us feel.

Oof. When you get Kelly to speak against Bungo you know things are worst case scenario lmao It’s working as intended. Expect Bungie to say it’s a big in the twab tomorrow.
