Hello Gamers!
I know this post will most likely die down fairly quickly. However, I wanted to give some players an insight on how I see this game.
I was an extreme destiny player up until last year, I had a title and was a pretty decent ass raider, I did every quest I could and basically started to ignore a lot in my life. I usually just ignored people when they said "dude this game is not good, how do you have this much time on it?" I couldn't accept the reality that destiny is a really mediocre and at times bad game. I continued to ignore the comments I received and slowly realized the game was consuming my life. Around the time my senior year started, I was ignoring my friends, being flat-out rude to people who dared to step between me and destiny and I didn't want that to continue. So I decided to quit playing, originally I thought I would come back but I didn't and I gotta say my life has really changed. I repaired all of my friendships and I actually am excelling in my schoolwork right now. I know this may sound stupid to the REALLY hardcore players. But if you are a hardcore player who skips work or school for release days, consider stepping back for a few months, and I know that might be difficult but taking a step back and look at what this game truly is about, it might help you choose whether or not it is worth playing.
Either way I just want people to be cautious about their real life and not some fake virtual character with numbers next to their name.
TL;DR: Don't go too hardcore on destiny, it sort of ruins your life.

18 RepliesDude, you know Bungie hired psychologists to consult on how to keep players on the grind, right? Don’t be hard on yourself. Targeting reward pathways is literally how: Casinos Fast food Needy spouses / life partners Dogs Employers Organized religion Netflix Domestic beer producers Second grade teachers Disney Your parents .....and your friendly neighborhood drug dealer obtain an outsized presence and sustained hold on your life. Video games are just another method of offering the illusion of agency while bartering the increasingly narrow possibilities of your lived experience.

1 ReplySorry, I stopped reading at "decent ass raider"... Mostly because I couldn't see past all of the tears from laughing so hard.

1 ReplyBungie is farming the players time and not actually trying to make it fun either. As they change things and make it more labor intensive it clears up on intent. Shadow Keep was the beginning of the process and eververse was the driving force to open up for free to play. Bungie has greatly over shot the games intended earning margins mid Destiny. It’s not a cost to support game issue but instead a EA like move to rake in cash on the blind.

5 RepliesNo offense little boy but when i was your age i was out chasing girls and living life. Now as a man this is an escape from my wife, bills, and work. You shouldnt be trapped in a virtual world at your age. Kudos to you at realising destiny is not life but us grown ups enjoy this game and many others as an escape. When you become a man you will understand.

5 RepliesThis game is designed to take up your whole life. It preys on the introverts, the socially awkward and the lonely. Wanna break free? Take a walk, make a friend, find a girlfriend/boyfriend, learn to fish, GO OUTSIDE.

6 RepliesYears ago I downloaded a Solitaire game for my phone. Every time I took a dump (I know... TMI, but bare with me) I used to play the daily challenge. It was something like "complete all the hearts first" or "complete a round without using the empty slots" or whatever. For each completed challenge (bounty) you'd get points. After a certain amount of points you got a title, like "Ace King" or "Card Shark" or something. Years later, I had tons of titles. For years I don't think I took a dump without playing that game. Eventually, I needed to replace my phone. I downloaded the game onto my new phone, but realized there was no login. My stats were saved in the actual phone. Maybe there was a way to transfer them over, but I couldn't be bothered. So I deleted the game from my new phone. I wasn't about to start from the beginning with the "Card Noob" title. At first, it felt weird. I had become accustomed to doing the daily challenge for the points and going for the next title. But after a couple of days I forgot about it. The moral of the story? Destiny 2 is like a mobile game that you get used to for passing the time while taking a dump. That is all.

It took 5 years for Bungie to realize this is what crazy grind does..... .....NOW they're gonna turn that bounty-grind down

10 RepliesBoy oh boy will you enjoy Monster Hunter World with Icebourne.... it is meth.

This is really you just you admitting you allowed a virtual program to consume your life. Way to admit you’re an addicted type of person.

1 Reply"..my senior year started.." Oh its a child, kay.

2 RepliesI ruined mine with alcohol. You’ll have that hurdle too soon. And then women. Certain types of women don’t like their men playing computer games all night. So if I were you I’d learn moderation.

This game is trash. Why anyone would give up anything for it is beyond me. Nothing in this game is worth the wasted time. Bungie is a one hit wonder and their time has long gone. The people running it now wouldn't know what a good game is if someone created it for them. This game only excels at mindless busy work with no tangible rewards. Go play any game other than this, play outside, have friends, have fun.

Sounds like a >you< problem 🤔

2 RepliesYou were a decent ass raider?! Good to hear that your ass raiding has come to an end. 👍

7 RepliesYou're right. Destiny is a gateway drug. I used to be a nice boy. But then one time, during Iron Banner in HoW, I noticed I never took first place on my team and knew I needed something to enhance my experience. In a time when I didnt know about G Fuel or Gamer Bread, I turned to my friend Tony, who knew a guy that sold crack. Before i knew it, i found myself in a dark room full of dirty spoons and voices of the Iron Lords. Between games i found myself formulating small time plots to take and pawn family belongings to stay at the top of my game. That following summer at an outdoor rodeo during a power outage, I was encouraged to secure an account -a -bill- a -buddy via our local community D.A.R.E. program. My buddy, Shawn, helped my see that smoking crack to stay at the top of my team wouldn't reward me with the loot I was obsessed with chasing. That winning was having the opposite effect on my goals because Destiny actually rewarded the worst players. By RoI, I had become an Iron Lord myself, and with some help, decided to retire and become a deputy loan consultant at a credit union in rural Nebraska. Overcoming my addictions has helped focus on what really matters, my childhood dream of owning an Ostrich farm. #freethepeople

I am pretty sure I have logged in once maybe twice since this season of D2 started and I don't feel bad about it at all. I was spending far too much time trying to get good rolls trying to get through bounties and it all got extremely boring and so extremely repetitive that when I logged in and saw another chore list and honey do list plus a couple of full time jobs with no pay I just logged back out and said no more. I have not regretted it at all and started up a business instead to take up my time and it is something I have enjoyed far more than I have enjoyed D2 in a while plus I could make good money for my pockets instead of feeding Bungie in hopes they have improved this time.

I think a lot of people around my age group learned that lesson from WoW. There’s always something that’s going to come around and grab hold of you and it may be hard at first to let go. You just have to take anything into moderation. If you ever feel like something is taking over your life just give yourself a week to be yourself. You’ll slowly start to realize how little it will impact your life in the long run. Things like destiny are not going to be around forever so you could invest your time into something that will help you in the long run
-
Your just talking about Destiny 2 right? Cuz Destiny 1 is a great game and I found it to be very fun and fullfilling

You will get the typical responses, but they’re from the folks that truly need to take this advice to heart. The game is not mediocre, it’s below mediocre, it’s mildly entertaining... for about ten minutes. Bungie has mutated this game into something that is disjointed and most times now... desperate to stay relevant, apparent by Shadowcheap and this seasonal BS. Good for you for doing the smart thing. Destiny will not be remembered as a good game, but more as an example for other companies of not what to do. Six years, took them six years to get to this sad state... what kind of company does that? Not the good ones.

I had similar affects on me while I was playing during high school. This is 100% accurate and I’m glad I’m not crazy and that someone else thinks the same way. I’ve been lowering my exposure to D2 and similar game to focus on myself more

Can be said for any game. Self control must be learned.
