I feel like the part Bungie is missing with this change is play style. I don’t use the weapons I typically use because they are the best... I use them because they are the best for the way I like to play. I’m not going to play a game that forces me to change my play style. And I’m not going to play a game that makes me work this hard to find a weapon I like, then work this hard to get a roll I want, just to have it go away in a couple of seasons...
If Bungie wants to make shotguns or fusion rifles amazing one season, great, I still won’t use them, I like autos and scouts and it’s what I use. My weapons and armor tailor to my play style, Now the weapons I’ve spent so long working on and getting just right for my style will eventually be unplayable, once that happens, I, like many will be done with the game.
Dozens of guardians I’ve talked to personally feel the same way. This is a change that WILL cause a lot of guardians to walk away once and for all... Including me... I will spend no more money with them knowing this is coming...
P.S. I’ve spent real money on ornaments for guns that will now be forcibly shelved... how much of a rip is that In and of itself...

Well it happened, and just as prophesized, this game is dogshit and I'm out
-
Same here, as a casual player the time to obtain some weapons takes literally forever. And to lose them one or two years later? If this goes live, bye bye. And as mentioned do we get back the money we spent of NOW to be outdated skins and the likes
-
14 RepliesIm quite patient and rarely get super pissed about something Bungie does (last time I was this upset was the XP scam BS in Y1 for reference) but seriously this alone is enough to turn me off for a fair amount of time if they go through with this. Reverting back to one of the most hated things about D1Y1 is not ok. Do not take us back 6 damn years because you guys can't figure out a way to make weapons more diverse and unique along with enemies in a similar respect. If you're worried about these guns being too much later on then how about you add new base mechanics to literally all enemies in the game? That alone could fix the issue along with several other issues on top of it. Come on Bungie I love you guys, been with you since I was a kid with Halo and generally support you guys even if I dont agree with something But this? 0 support, 0 love, 0 tolerance on this one even conceptually. Completely unacceptable on so many levels.

This whole ideas dumb destiny is going downhill fast
-
Somebody probably put out pot cookies in the break room again when they thought of this🤣🤣🤣
-
6 RepliesNope. Disagree. Same thing happened in destiny 1. People only ran certain guns for ages until they were stopped and then we found new favorites. Hung Jury easily replaced the VoC. Eysluna replaced the FB. Need to freshen up the game. This is a solid way to do it.
-
4 RepliesExactly, man. They aren't slick. They think just because they "give" Trials back, they can take ALL YOUR SH!T away from you. Yeah yeah..."but it doesn't matter in regular crucible" They have been doing this since day effin one... Give one small thing and take away TEN BIG THINGS. Definitely gonna lose A TON of players over this STUPID ASS move. LET PEOPLE PLAY THE GAME HOW THEY WANT TO PLAY THE DAMN GAME!

2 RepliesEdited by A_mo: 2/27/2020 4:48:53 AMI'm trying to take more of a wait and see approach but the more I think about it the more I don't like it. And honestly I couldn't agree with you more. 42 thoooooouuuuuuuusand kills on my Bygones and I'm not going to be able to use it for very long if I play Trials. I got the outlaw/killclip range masterwork bygones. I used it for like 2 weeks before I went back to the Drifter one because that's the one I've been using and its the one I want to use. I've just never understood the attitude like we will be thankful for being forced to use something we don't want to use. I'm also not going to use a shotgun that often and I'm never going to use a fusion rifle no matter how broken they make them. I'm not going to get legend this season because I told myself no shotgun and no ohk and if I'm not good enough to get it when everyone else is using that garbage then oh the -blam!- well. I don't even know what exotic it is that makes hunters disappear when they dodge. I don't know which one turns other peoples' radar off. I've never used stompees. I'm sure I have all of those exotics but I don't use them because that's not my playstyle. There's enough people who like switching to the hunter cheese du jour that those of us who don't want to should be left alone. I've used freaking foetracer since the game came out because that's the way I like to play... foetracer. I know they aren't messing with exotics, I'm just saying this to make my point. It doesn't seem like they are giving much credit to the people who put themselves at a disadvantage so they can play the way the want to. I do absolutely not like pretty much any OHK anything unless its a sniper rifle and I'm never going to. They've been pulling this crap for a while now by making stuff so OP that people have to switch to it and I guess they've decided that there are still too many of us that are holdouts. It may work out in the end but I'm not someone who likes being commanded what to do by a videogame and feeling like I'm being micromanaged. There will never be a time where I say to myself, "Oh golly gee I nevuh knew I'd like this fusion rifle one hit crap, I's so thankfuh. BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE TO PLAY LIKE THAT.

Edited by EasilyEnraged: 2/27/2020 12:06:57 AMI have to agree. It takes a long time to finally find that perfect gun. I try the new weapons each season and if I like them I use them. But if my favorite stuff gets basically reduced to useless I may as well just quit. I dont want to have to pick either being underpowered or using weapons i don't like "If I'm to choose between one evil and another, I'd rather not choose at all." - Geralt

2 RepliesA better option would be to nerf the top weapon and add a new one. If they want people to desire and farm that new weapon. Example. Spare rations make aim assist go from 92 —> 63 and reduce the handling/stability on it by 20%. Now introduce a similar weapon that has better stats that people will want. You can still use that old spare rations but the new weapon will be better without introducing power creep. This solves their problem without removing our ability to use said weapon.

I just think it's funny how he said there is too much FOMO in their proceeded to tell us how they're going to take away our guns again but only after a certain time which is so weird to me I don't get it
-
1 ReplyThe moment this actually goes live, if it does, I'm done with this game. It's already starting to feel like a mistake returning to the game recently. Why would I ever want to regrind another weapon, which is essentially just a new skin of my current weapon with a bigger number on top, for the exact same rolls I already have and will want again?

1 ReplyEdited by WormChi: 2/27/2020 6:27:21 PMI feel like that one design choice invalidates a ton of my play time and makes me never want to chase a god roll again. For instance I love Beloved. Was a LDR user in D1. I have been grinding Tranquilities since Shadow Keep dropped. 165 to date. I have some near perfect rolls, but not a perfect one yet. So the grind continues- until now. With their upcoming model it would be devalued in 6 months from now. Also ritual weapons. Not everyone has time to grind them immediately. I don’t care for strikes or gambit but will do them for a ritual I really want - not anymore. As a pvp player this game to me is about getting good and finding said gear to help me do that. This is mostly grinding god rolls for your loudout. Now there’s no point to the later for me. All this is going to do is promote lazy design. They’ll retire a weapon and then make a clone of it so you can go grind another 50 hours for said weapon. I can see it now. Mindbenders Ambition is retired but there’s a hot new void shot gun from the new gambit six man activity called Brainturners Motivation, with the exact same stats, same gun model and two different perk options. No one liked this system in D1 and they eventually brought all the retired weapons back anyways. You would have two different versions of LDR in your vault. The Y1 version that was locked at 165 and the current version at 365. Exact same guns - just one is locked at a lower light level. This is just a way for them to make the least amount of content possible and stretch year 4 before the release of D3.

16 RepliesHow every body on these post's dose not seem to under stand. And I blame Luke Smith for his lack of clarity. The weapons are not going away. they will still exist forever. You just will not be able to take them past a certain power level, So they will not stay viable in. ASPIRING , PINNACLE, TIER EVENTS. how many of you take your spare rations into the raid. Or take Luna's Howl into Master Nightfalls. If there are any , Then i bet it's very few. The open world and crucible power level does not matter. So you can run whatever weapon and load out you want to run. Think About it . regular strikes Power level doesn't matter. Public events Power level doesn't matter Lost sectors Power level doesn't matter regular Nightfalls Power level doesn't matter. Do you guy's understand yet. I'ts only Pinnacle event's , And guess what I am not taking ether doctor into the raid. I can't believe there is this much confusion over this subject. Again if the director's cut was more direct and explanative there would not be this much salt on the forum

This has been happening over and over and over, just in different ways. This team (the game designers anyway) has to figure out new ways to keep players coming back each season, but time and again they’ve shown that they simply have NO IDEA AT ALL how to do it in a way that doesn’t somehow grief the player. Be it introducing more grind, or more unique currencies and resources, or deciding for us what weapons they want us to use, Bungie has shown that they only know how to restrict and remove, not give us more freedom and more content.
-
1 ReplyYeah i use weapons cause i like them, both handling and looks. Plus i like having my different classes have different setups to fit different themes that fit the class. I'll yield to swapping an exotic for a raid or running weapons that let me deal with champions. But even then i try to keep it fitting to my playstyle. I'd much rather they just add new perks to the random pools of existing weapons than impose infusion caps on them. Let us decide if a new perk is worth it or not. I'd also add that I'm soooo close to finally getting Mountaintop as i finally decided to be "that guy" after cringing for months about stooping so low. Point being I'm not a sweaty hardcore gamer and this changed would lock me out of future content as i literally won't have the time to grind out the latest meta. The current system is much superior as i can join a raid with weapons that are still perfectly serviceable, just not the latest greatest meta and that's fine when I'm not trying to set a record 1 phasing the newest raid boss. Plus if the new pinnacles have quests that are as much a PITA as Mountaintop + they'll have a cap I'll just pass entirely on that grind.
-
1 ReplyI paid for ornaments and have kill trackers on these weapons. I don't want to lose them.
-
i agree with Breutus, i'm the same way
-
9 RepliesThis happened in D1 and people were phased. You know what they did? They allowed you to infuse them later on as if they gave us some sort of gift. This is no different than taking our entire vault only to give it back in pieces. It’s a shitty tactic to make the game feel tougher.
-
They have learned nothing from D2Y1 fiasco, the “We hear You” bit was completely a lie. The funny thing is they are thinking that simply bringing trials back right now, will distract from all crap they are about to pull on You. When the Trials crowd comes back and see’s what a hot mess crucible is right now they will leave. What’s left the loyal PVE players, well guess what Bungie just screwed those people over with retiring their favorite weapons they grinder days for. The player numbers are trending downward consistently. they are literally choking out the last loyal players they have left. This game is going to die, making terrible decisions will expedite this.
-
as soon as I read the news I thought: "oh, thank you bungie! I couldn't make the final decision to abandon destiny, but with that you made it easier for me, that's enough, I'm out."
-
Yeah the 85th “final straw” apparently.

16 RepliesEdited by TJ_Dot: 2/27/2020 3:57:37 AMAs someone who tried to use everything, this like the biggest middle finger I personally could have ever been given. First they go down Fomo with a bad direction for the game (and seemingly want to pull back a bit, but who tf cares by now) Next they ignore the vault for a second Y3 in a row. And Finally, make the act of collecting anything pointless as it will all become obsolete so that meta exploiters can be forced to try new things. 70+ loadouts littered with old gear and this is what I get? a Cease and Desist on ever patting the dust off any of them. Why even play this game anymore... I was actually interested in Trials because of my Dreaming City/Oathkeeper armor set combined with Wish Ender that has become my go to for Crucible after I pursed dead Not Forgotten like a physco and now seeking Unbroken. Maybe I could defy the meta in the mode that imbedded it so far into PvP like a Thorn that it left a permanent scar. That build is set to die... My beloved OG Quickfang is set to die... My reason for playing this game at all anymore is set to die.

Edited by CeramicSugar248: 2/28/2020 4:30:16 AMIt solves one issue but creates a new one at the same time, yes you will have to use new guns, but a new attitude of I'm not grinding at all. The conclusion is I'll clean out my vault of armor and guns over the course of year 4 but won't bother grinding for a Godrolls or high stats unless it accidentally falls in my lap. The pattern really seems to be one of recycling d1 content and what is easiest from Bungie's end. Feels like freewheeling for profit and playing for time with the new ip release and leaving destiny behind As it currently stands I've paid for the content I own up till this point but no more paying for seasons, I'm safe in the knowledge of doom and Halo drop this year so I'll migrate away at my leisure and I'm sure many others will as well. The player base isn't a bottomless pit bungie may learn this when it's too late.

Dozens of people who don’t care that new loot won’t matter? I mean...the gunplay is great, I agree, but without loot to care about people most get bored.
