Problems with the Nerfing.

So the problems with balance lately have been taking a very bad turn, as all players have realized, especially with the TWAB a few weeks ago. Nerfing good gear to bring them in line with mediocre/weaker gear is NOT healthy for the game. Nerfs should only ever be brought out for something extremely dominant like OG Trench Barrel and Wardcliff in PvP right now. Speaking of, I'm absolutely dumbfounded you haven't reduced it's ammo on pick-up back to 1, yet you figured nerfing Sleeper's ricochet damage would do anything useful. Weapons like Skyburner's, Worldine Zero, Sunshot, Sweet Business, etc... aren't being used because there's gear so OP that makes them irrelevant. Whisper was fine. Sleeper was fine. Ace of Spades was fine. These other weapons aren't being used BECAUSE they're underpowered and extremely niche/bad. Instead of going the lazy and easy route of nerfing good things to bring them in line with mediocre things, BUFF those mediocre things. Give us a reason to use them. Nothing will really change with Sleeper, but as far as Whisper and Ace go? Whisper is going to fall into irrelevancy and people are just going to use OTV, Thunderlord, or D.A.R.C.I. in it's place. People are just going to swap Ace out for weapons like Outbreak, Vigilance Wing, TLW, and 180rpm HCs. You're not creating a better and more diverse playing field, you're making it worse by ruining good gear and leaving us with less choices that are worth using. The Exotic Armor that gave super energy back? Those are extremely useful, no doubt, but so many of them are SITUATIONAL. Skull is only worthwhile when going up against large groups of enemies. Shards is pretty mediocre as is and should almost always be used on a boss with a big hitbox. Ursa was pretty mediocre as well. Phoenix Protocol is almost never a better choice than LunaBoots and actually JUST got to see some strong usage with Reckoning. Orpheus is a go to for most Hunters just because of how useful it is compared to the rest of their PvE exotics. You seriously can't tell me these nerfs will make people pick up gear like Sealed Ahamkara Grasps, Mask of the Quiet One, Sanguine Alchemy, etc... No, we're just going to use gear like One-Eyed Mask, Celestial Nighthawk, and Lunafaction Boots, because they're good exotics. I sincerely hope you either don't put these nerfs through, or realize quickly they aren't healthy changes and revert them quickly. I've been playing Destiny since year one of D1, and I know how many mistakes you make, and how it takes you too long to fix them and by the time you do, the damage has already been done and is irreversible. Make this right.

  • You are just stipulating you dont know how these nerfs are gonna work other than they said it will be harder to get a full super back. Now that being said if the give back 50% or 75% they are still going to be super strong.

  • "The fact that everybody is throwing the same tantrum and not responding to any of the actual points you made prove we're right and definitely know what's best for the game! Infinite supers is clearly the way the game is meant to be played!" Also, my favorite line:
The Exotic Armor that gave super energy back? Those are extremely useful, no doubt, but so many of them are SITUATIONAL.
Like, holy shit are you just comically, fantastically wrong in every way, shape, and form. You've clearly never engaged in any endgame content, ever, and are just throwing a tantrum because you can't skip strikes when you feel like it.

  • Infinite nova ruins the game. Exotic heavy ruins the game. Broken Pinnacle weapons that 2 tap ruins the game.

  • Nerfherders are content with this, Bungie is too stubborn to think this won't work. We're literally going around in circles, as they've tried this before and it failed. Smfh, we're going right back to D2 vanilla.

    • The nerfs were needed if you say no you have not paid attention nerfing nova bomb teather and healing well exotict brings them down to other supers . The weaponds that were hit were to powerful melting bosses and regaining ammo that was to OP

They always nerf b4 a content drop, why else would you grind mediocre weapons if you already have good and or decent ones. Step 1 nerf previous meta Step 2 introduce OP weapons in dlc Step 3 showcase new op weapons to build hype Step 4 put weapons behind long grind and rng to increase play time Step 5 once people have it use the OP status given to drive sales and hype as reason for nerf Step 6 rinse and repeat Every season and dlc has been like this
Nerfing good gear to bring them in line with mediocre/weaker gear is NOT healthy for the game.
Here, I'll fix this for you.
Nerfing overly good gear to shorten the power gap with mediocre/weaker gear is healthy for the game, because it means there is less chance to break the game when the lesser quality gear is brought up to a comparable level.
Nice. On that related note, Bungie has also made it clear in the May 16th TWAB that they will make an attempt to avoid potential snowballing of power creep through sandbox changes.

      • Nerfs are just as unhealthy/healthy as buffs. Too much of one is unhealthy. These nerfs break away from the trend of buffing.

          • The exotics were nerfed because Reckoning, which was designed to challenge these exotics, had to rely on a small bridge, a small upload circle where you don't move and push mechanics so you'd fall to your death. Blackout modifiers, attrition etc. to be any sort of a challenge to the player's abilities. Your abilities trivialized every encounter, including the one designed for you to fail unless you used these exotics. Whisper trivialized every encounter at a distance great enough to where the boss isn't at all a threat to you.

Problem is you can't buff exotics to match something like skull of dire ahamkara There's is nothing you could do to, for example, vesper of radius to have it be as affective. Or buff weapons to match luna's Without completely breaking the game. What you'd require is dozens of exotics to be completely reworked into what would essentially be new exotics Which is impossible
