Solo Version of Raids
I know this has probably been talked about forever. But can we please get a solo version of the raids so solo players can at least experience this content? So much of the story since Destiny 1 even, has been shrouded in a 6-man fireteam fog. Please, just modify the mechanics so that we can have an enjoyable experience playing this game solo.

There’s multiple resources like Find A Fireteam, r/fireteams, destiny tracker has a lfg, and multiple other sites and communities. While I do think more things should be accessible to solo players, I do not think raids should be solo-able

6 RepliesI disagree entirely. Raids are pinnacle end game stuff, and the added story in D2’s raids I greatly appreciate. If you don’t want to play with other people, shouldn’t have bought D2. Honestly.

10 RepliesRaids should just be easier so 2-3 players can “carry” 3-4 teammates. Im sick of raid mechanics where every person has an equally important role and a wipe happens if just 1 person makes a minor mistake.

I feel bad for all the replies you're getting. This is what I think, I personally have always wanted a solo raid but I love the raids we have (aside from SoS, I want my Sleeper catalyst but my entire squad and replacements hate it with a burning passion) so lets not modify mechanics for solo and stuff. Just make a raid that's literally only meant for 1 player from the ground up. Would allow for some cool side stories and stuff and could help with content droughts and would give solo players some more opportunities. However this would be difficult like soloing Shattered Throne so don't think this would be some free loot being handed to you.

2 RepliesMatchmaking....[b]Optional[/b] matchmaking yes. Solo versions of Raids. No. To be honest I can think of a number of reasons why matchmaking, even optional, could backfire in this game, but the thought of solo raids? Nah. That is just never going to happen.

I'm gonna start asking for must have lunas howl as a raid requirement. Atleast you know you're getting someone with half a brain even if they dont know the mechanics. I wonder how some people that do raids feed themselves or wipe their own ass, they're so incompetent.

I agree. I don’t have friends to do raids with and whenever I do log, nobody except me and usually another guy knows what to do!

You can solo some raid encounters like Kalli, Argos, leviathan banners and in Destiny 1 you can solo all raid final bosses. But if you can't do that then use lfg

I liked raids in d1. You didn’t have to worry about having 6 people. It was about fighting challenging enemies and you could be 1 person short and still be able to progress. I’m sorry but I’m not really crazy about all the puzzle bullshit that the d2 raids have done.

2 RepliesRaids shouldn’t be doable solo. Coop mechanic shouldn’t be based on jumping and carrying stuff like apes in a circus. That said, matchmaking should be included. However bungie’s playerbase is largely made up of mono cellular organisms that will tell you that matchmaking isn’t possible bc it would be a mess, yet all of them ask for players to kwtd. Seriously stupid they are huh! Guess the average D2 fanboy IQ cap is around 60, including DLC content.

Raids were ment to be done with larger teams. If they made a solo version of raids for the solo players no one would go through the hassle of actually putting a team together and just run through the solo version. Which would basically turn these raids into long strikes like crota before the 390 changes

A solo version would basically get rid of that core experience and feeling of "pride and accomplishment", when you down that boss for the first time. Everyone cheering and being ecstatic. Knowing how you clutched the encounter. All around fun and great feelings. What I would be onboard, is that strikes could teach you how to use relics (psionic charges, vex craneums, greed balls, eyes of Riven) or enemy mechanics (Berserkers and phase charges). That would probably encourage more players to try raids out, since they already know the basics of how stuff works.

What I originally posted below is something that I would want to be an OPTION, not a replacement. An option that makes it more accessible and maximizes the amount of players that actually play and complete raids. Which is far lower than it should be. The reality of Destiny raiding is that some people CAN’T spend an entire weekend day devoted to learning the convoluted “synchronized swimming” mechanics of a raid, or they simply don’t want to because it’s not fun. I just want less convoluted versions of raids that are more like strikes and that have matchmaking. Even if it meant only getting a single raid reward per week instead. I’d rather get less rewards for a fun activity than more rewards for an annoying, arduous, and time consuming activity. Death defying, timed games of match the pictures on the wall during an already timed boss battle with arbitrary immune phases and auto wipe mechanics is the opposite of fun for many people. Shattered Throne is a small step in the right direction but it needed matchmaking and its own unique gear instead of just awarding more DC gear.

For me the best oart of Crota’s End was that you could solo the raid.

i would say yes to a solo activity on the raid lvl. there is allready shattered throne , a three man event with a solo achievement. though matchmaking for raids is more likely than getting a solo raid. matchmaking for a raid is less likely than winning the lottery . our best bet on getting to experience the raid is to ask for some considerate group to bring us in with them.
