Anthem

So, I've played Destiny since the Beta. Bought every DLC that they threw at me. When Destiny 2 was announced, I pre-ordered it, along with the first 2 expantions/DLC. I purchased more. $$$$$.... When Forsaken came out I was kinda pissed that Bungie was trying to ALSO sell me an ANNUAL PASS. I mean....really? I know not everyone feels this way, but I feel as though Bungie is screwing people by selling a game that some would argue was not finished, then ask its customers to pay even more to play it?? Well, people on the Destiny 1 forum would always say..." When (whatever new game was coming out) comes out, its gonna KILL Destiny!" And....low and behold....it didn't. In reality though, it probably did for some players. Not the masses they thought it would though. But I'm sure lots of people left. Well, today I played the Anthem Closed Alpha. I'm not allowed to give specific details, but I can say that Anthem, WILL KILL DESTINY 2. At least, for me. Now with that being said, I'm not naive enough to think that when Anthem is released Bungie will shut down. That's NOT what I'm saying. However, Bungie ( and Activision) should open their eyes, stop focusing only on dollar signs. If you make a great product....that people like....those same people will urge, push, invite others in to your game. I may be cheap, but I've never liked the fact that I paid big money for my Xbox One, $60 a year to get it online, BIG $$$ for the internet, then $65 per game. Then they start charging $30 to $40 for a DLC that you beat in 2 to 4 days?! And NOW they want to charge for a yearly pass?! I guess if we stop buying it, they'll eventually stop trying to sell it. I know this isn't an airport, so I'm not announcing my departure. And I'm not leaving just yet. But, after playing Anthem....I'd say it is inevitable. Destiny and Destiny 2 have introduced me to some new friends, and I enjoyed the experience as a whole. Completing my first Raid, earning the Exotic weapon/armor I was wanting at the time. Completing strikes. Wandering around and having a random newby ask for help....and helping them complete whatever task they needed. All of it. But.....I hear Anthem calling.....when the time comes......I will answer.

  • I facepalm every time I hear someone say “X will kill Destiny 2” Many things have been said to kill Destiny 2, Monster Hunter World being one of them...aaaaand D2 is still here. Trust me, even after Anthem and Division 2 and other games, it’s still gonna be here. Maybe some people will leave but the most dedicated Destiny players will stay, I guarantee that. Also...there’s no rule that says you can only play Anthem or Destiny 2. There’s no rule that says you’re restricted to playing only 1 game. That’s not fun, you should feel free to play as many games as you like. Sure some might take some more investment, but to just play one game and nothing else is...eh yeah it doesn’t make out for an enjoyable experience.

    • I have Anthem preordered and hope to have alot of fun with it and even if I do I'll still play D2. We all know players will burn through the PvE content much faster than Bioware can produce It so It will be interesting to see how long It can hold its playerbase without PvP to hold them over.

    • I'm not preordering Anthem, I wont be buying any Ultimate Editions of the game, and I wont be buying it in the first month of its release. I will be monitoring its feedback very closely, and if it turns out to be an overall good game, I will buy it. As far as Destiny as a whole, I'm onboard for the rest of Year 2, but the bare bones releases that are the Annual Pass is not going to cut it. Black Armory is garbage. If this is the new direction of the game, then something will replace it. It doesnt even have to be a game. Gaming in general is in a low spot. Destiny 3 is not on my radar at all. Its all open though. We'll see where it all goes.
