STOP SPENDING SHARDS ON SPIDERS MASTERWORK CORES.
On days like today, you want to buy Simulation Seeds from Spider. Buy 100-200 Shards worth, which is 500-1000 Seeds, or 10-20 packages at a time.
The reason for using Simulation Seeds is because the shaders from leveling Vance dismantle into Shards, unlike the other vendors. Ive heard Mars does the same thing but haven't tried on Mars.
Trade them all to Brother Vance on Mercury and break down everything, even the shaders. Among a few cores per run, you will get all of your shards back, give or take a couple each time. Rinse and Repeat until satisfied.
Starting with only 225 Shards, Ive gotten 90 Cores today in 4 ish hours. And I still have 72 Shards left. So basically, 153 shards turned into 90 cores. That would have only bought you 4 through Spider in one day.
Its tedious, and not particularly quick, but better than 3 cores a day for 70 shards. This is NOT a cheese or glitch, but rather taking advantage of the material economy that Bungie gave to us..
INB4 People come in saying some youtuber posted this already, not everyone watches youtube, so Im spreading the word in Text here on these forums. Help each other.
EDIT:
This is still an RNG based farm. Know that some of you will see better returns than others. I got very lucky and had a few packages that even dropped double masterworked drops. Also note that masterworked gear can drop 1-3 cores each, so some of you will get 1 while others will get 3. I recommended using small amounts like 100-200 shards at a time so you can test your luck rather than dumping 1000+ and seeing terrible returns. This method is the very definition of Gambling. Someone in the comments averaged out at 12 shards per core, as to where someone else claimed they averaged 70 shards per core. Person 1 got a good deal, person 2 not so much. Again, it's RNG.
Thank you!

1 ReplyYes, I got a lot of cores last night on both Mars and Mercury. I was surprised at how many I got and wondered if people were doing this.
-
I got 0 cores and got half my shards back.
-
7 RepliesBought 1300 seeds, ended up with 1 Masterwork Core for my time and effort. Trust me, I understand the RNG factor. Not sure it was worth my time or my shards... 260 Legendary Shards = 1 Masterwork Core.

This has probably been mentioned but if anyone remembers POE you had to do that to get infusion cores for armor and weapons not saying that they have to be individual. But how about adding bounties or activities that give you a gauranteed amount of "Cores'. Keep spider but they should rotate shards once in awhile, I have tons of weapons part that are just collecting dust in hopes that it will turn into currency for cores.

4 RepliesDid it and banked 10 MW cores I used 999 x2 parts.. not bad and I got my legendary shards back
-
Doing this when I get home

This works with any vendor shaders from Osiris and Warmind except Eververse which will always break down into bright dust

1 ReplyThis is not a bad method. Is it ridiculous that we need to do something like this = yes. It does seem to be a fairly effective process though. Glimmer is rarely an issue for more than an hour or so but MWC are a constant issue. Thanx for sharing

1 ReplyEdited by Vexx: 10/4/2018 8:00:45 PMTHANKYOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! I’ve legitimately just got 16 masterwork cores in 25 minutes. I also didn’t know that some shaders dismantle into shards, I thought it was just glimmer or bright dust. I’ve never dismantled a single shader until now so I was sitting on a couple hundred shards aswell. Quite a few of the shaders dismantle into shards, faction ones also which I had a hundred of. Can’t thank you enough

Thanks for the heads up gonna have to try this

2 RepliesI've done this and once, seriously this shit isn't fun at all. They really need to do something about the graphics user interface. Really?, How hard is it to put a proper up and down with a number amount. Why do I have to hold the X button 200 times. SMDH

Nice! I'll pass this along to my fireteam. I've done this in the past by turning in my surplus materials and getting lucky with extra cores. But the system you have seems solid.

1 ReplySloane is good too. If you have plenty of shards but need more glimmer, Alkane dust from Titan works well. It doesn't take as many materials to rank up a package from Sloane. The shaders you get from her dismantle for glimmer. I've had better luck farming for MW cores on Titan than Mars or Mercury. Probably due to fewer materials to rank up. If I find I'm a little low on legendary shards, I trade glimmer in for shards when Spider has that option available. The economy isn't as bad as we thought, it's just time consuming converting shards to materials to mod components and MW cores.

Now this is very useful information, thank you Guardian.

1 ReplyI can't seem to get shards now, or not many i should say. I still haven't seen 1 mod component since forsaken launched, i wish they'd hurry up and fix this crap..... Got a good way to get shards? Once i can get shards i'll try this method for sure. Thanks

1 ReplyGuarantee you Bungie will be quick and patch this by Tuesday, but they’ll take their sweet time figuring out a proper masterwork fix.

1 ReplyI'm just posting this to remind of something I need to do tonight. ;) Thanks for the info Angel. You might be in Hell, but you're still an angel.
-
Im just going to hold my remaining 120 something Cores until they make whatever changes Bungie is planning. I get enough cores from breaking down Y1 loot already to do what i need to do.

1 ReplyAmazing thanks for posting and I can concur not everyone is checking YouTube daily for news from random people, so crew anyone who says you “stole” the idea etc. thank you for sharing guardian

You get a bump thanks!

1 ReplyWhether we wanted it or not, we've just learned the financial theory of arbitrage.

Going to have to do this!!!!!

1 ReplyThanks for the tip 😁
You do of course realize Bungie’s going to -blam!- the community over by patching this little trick out 😩
