Hello,
I understand community leaders are apparently reading these posts, though I'm certain the only thing that will happen is me getting grief from other community members and a knee jerk need to respond with "git gud" .
Let me preface this with, if you don't like what I have to say, either respond respectfully or don't respond at all. Don't be a jerk. I'm not here to be chastised or told to "git gud". There's enough of that on the forums already.
I am a longtime Destiny player with rheumatoid arthritis, worst in my hands and other joints. I was diagnosed at 22, now am 32 and gaming isn't easy. I understand many gamers with far worse disabilities perhaps perform far better that me -- and I applaud that. I no longer carry the same hand eye coordination to perform at any competitive level and never desired to in any way, shape or form.
What I do desire, is the ability to simply complete my crucible milestones each week. When events happen, I appreciate being able to finish a portion of my armor without it taking hours to finish one block of it.
I don't know what needs to change about matchmaking, but responses I've read from the community are disheartening and I feel as though I shouldn't bother playing at all. Crucible was never a strong point for me; never. And I can't say wether it ever will be -- because I'll never be able to improve if I continue getting wasted like I currently am.
I'll never be able to get better at the game I've love for so long without a curve change. I shouldn't be playing against 3+ KD/A when during that same match I'm getting stomped into barely above a .8.
I shouldn't be playing against people getting 30-40 kills a match when I'm the lone one getting 8. I understand it's purely connection based and I'm now looking at my far lower skill level now. That's fine. But this swing is absolutely insane. Now granted, there were maybe 3-5 matches that weren't as completely awful but generally they were miserable.
I can barely use my hands as is, and I try to game as a form of therapy. This is not. This is torture. I'm not asking for anything to be given to me. I asking for all avenues and all players to be considered as the launched of Forsaken closes in.
Thank you for your time in reading this. Respond respectfully or I won't bother with a response of my own.

2 RepliesThe new QP doesn't work. Even good players aren't playing as often because they don't like the new matching making or 6x6. The pool of people who enjoy it more now are mostly those who play like its their job. Players are using emotes and walking in circles in protest. It's chaotic garbage where a few elite players face off and the rest are filler. The filler gets stomped. There is no chance to learn from anyone or improve - you're just there to up the stats for the small elite. The change is a weird move that alienates a lot of players, considering there isn't that much to do in D2 besides play Crucible after finishing the campaigns. I used to play Crucible almost daily. It was so much fun! I kept improving and got really into it. Now I only play for the Milestones. I'm looking for other games that have similar PVP. That isn't a threat to quit Destiny, because I will still play, and still enjoy both Destiny and D2, but I enjoyed playing QP and I want to find that experience elsewhere.

3 RepliesNothing personal, but Bungie has been getting complaints about players who can't, or don't want to pvp missing out on non-pvp related power boosts and exotics, since the Thorn quest in vanilla D1. Despite all their posturing about "listening" they've chosen to repeatedly and at this point it's safe to assume deliberately ignore their players on this subject. They aren't going to do anything about it unless we vote with our wallets.

I also have arthritis and nerve damage probly not as bad as you yet but its getting that way, From the start of destiny 1 ive always said they should have a play list that only players with k/d less than .75 can access and when you go above you join the main crucible. You then get to play a few games of learning and if you drop below .75 you go back to the beginners league untill your ready to try the main crucible again. I believe this would encourage lots to get better and allow others a way to complete requirements while still enjoying the game instead of getting stomped.

Keep sbmm out of qp. You want to play people as bad as you? Go to competitive
-
I don't see quickplay wins being an impossible task. Even if you personally have a bad game, there are 5 others in.your team. I just unlocked the legendary set and to masterwork.it requires prestige Leviathan clear. Not much of a raider but I've done it once. However imo.that's out of reach for most players. I'd complain of that if something..

I agree. But everyone here should know that those of us who dislike cheets and are not just playing for online bragging rights are NOT THE MINORITY. We are not represented well here in the forums because the trolls simply chase us out. Destiny has nearly 6 million players across 3 platforms. Bungie sets up stats that clearly show the so called elite players are less than 2 percent of the overall. Its a simple american economic system at bungie though. The players with youtube channels and an inhanced remote are making them lots of money. So screw the 98 percent, they dont need us. Dont give up on the forum though, if enough of us represent we might get bungie to care.

4 RepliesApparently bungie had a glitch on the last update and all matchmaking is random now with no sbmm or cbmm . They decided to leave it for now to " collect data" . Meanwhile everybody that's not in the top 10% are having horrible games. I won 4 of my last 5 games and it was the single worst crucible experience I have ever had. I was stomping some guys and getting stomped by others all in the same game. It was not challenging in any way and was not fun, just aggravating. I agree with you that it needs to be fixed but most of the players in the top 5% do not want to play against people their own skill level. They complain about "sweaty" matches or bad connections and how they want to relax in a game. They absolutely love the new matchmaking. But for the silent 95% we're supposed to stop playing if we don't like getting stomped or otherwise we're told to "git gud". I loved playing crucible when I'm teamed up with players around my skill level. I have more fun when I lose a game by a couple of points vs winning a game by a large margin.

Edited by o_____________o: 8/2/2018 7:38:51 PMHey OP, I don't play D2, but I just wanted to give you props on writing such a well-thought out post amd laying your heart out so eloquently. It sucks that you are getting a lot of shit from people in here, but hopefully bungie will take your post into consideration. I'm not sure what they could possibly do, but rheumatoid arthritis sucks, from what I know about it.

6 RepliesSorry man but if thats the case then by design you should be playing ranked if you want "balanced matches", after all that is the supposed intention of ranked to be playing against players of your own skill levels. Unfortunately, Bungie borked ranked and its not a true ranked playlist. So for now, you need to deal with it. Not trying to be mean but there are more players that are able to play crucible now thanks to the removal of SBMM within a reasonable amount of time. The issue is the fact that we need SBMM removed from quickplay because the queue times for PC in particular are so bad that you can't even find a match before sometimes because there weren't enough players in your skill bracket to play. Sorry, but for the good of the community on all platforms, until crucible is highly populated again, we need SBMM removed and instead have Bungie fix ranked to be where SBMM resides for all players to enjoy.

7 RepliesEdited by MADG33k: 8/2/2018 12:00:21 AMSince Bungie can create different game modes the answer to this seems obvious to me. Add another permanent QP type of game mode with CBMM and SBMM disabled (call it Cutthroat or whatever) and restore SBMM and CBMM to QP. Give it the same games, Valor ranking and everything else that QP currently has. This will allow the players to choose the way they want to play. Want to play a game with players within a tight range if your ELO, which will give you a chance to improve your skill, play QP(Low Risk/slow improvement). Want to play a game where the skills and connections widely vary, but you may have a chance to stomp others (high risk/little to no chance of improvement) then play Cutthroat. This way everyone gets to play the way they want.

because I'll never be able to improve if I continue getting wasted like I currently am.
This is the point many of us are trying to make to the tryhards about what it means to play with a skill gap that too wide. There is ZERO value for the low tier player to play against people too high above them. They learn nothing from that 'trouncing'. There is ZERO value for a high tier player to play againt people too far below them. It surely doesn't showcase skill defeating someone who simply doesn't stand a chance against them. PVP at any level should have some level of SBMM. I'm actually starting to believe that QP should have SBMM, to achieve more 'fair' matches, and Comp should be CBMM so that good teams can continue to win and streak. As an 'aging' game I feel for you and understand the frustrations. Problem is most players nowadays don't want 'fair play'. They just want to keep their KD high and avoid an playing their own peers for fear of losing.

No thanks, the answer is what you very much hate to see, it simply is... get good.

7 RepliesEdited by Fridén: 8/2/2018 4:51:44 PMThe players that you don't want to get match up against... those are top 1% or higher players.... You have a better chance of playing with 11 1.0's than you do to play against ONE 3.0. Not only that, but... hey... sometimes the 1% player, he is put on YOUR team. I don't understand these complaints. I am a better PVP player (overall 1.7-1.8 k/d), (would not call myself elite) and I played 2 quickplay matches last night. The first one, I got mercied, the second, we also lost, and the highest player on the enemy team had over 40 defeats... his K/D, 1.1. When CBMM is in effect, it also gives the lower skilled players a better oppurtunity to exceed at a high level. Fact is, SBMM reduces this ability for everyone, NOT just the top tier players. Regardless, quickplay is and should remain casual. If I want to play a sweaty game against players of my bracket, there is competitive. Why have two playlists if the only difference between the two is name?

I've really been hating Destiny 2 PvP. I had completely stopped playing it (I had really started to enjoy it in D1, before the drop in population made the lag unbearable, plus the sidearm meta was forced upon us). But with Warmind and the new power level cap, my buddy was asking me every night to help him do his Call to Arms- which I had no thought of doing. However, once I did it with him, I felt compelled to keep doing it to work on reaching 385. Of course, he's only running his hunter, whereas I have three characters, so I wound up running alone most of the time. It hadn't changed- I still hated it. But I ground it through, playing the minimum number of matches per week that I had to, to get my Call to Arms done. I started doing it earlier in the week to get it over with, trying to force myself to play a couple of matches on Tuesday and Wednesday so there'd be less later on in the week. When I finally got all characters at 385, I thankfully said goodbye to crucible. So I have not had to experience 6v6 quickplay (when iron banner became 6v6, I just played quickplay for my Call to Arms) yet, and have not experienced the new matchmaking. But your post has made me TERRIFIED for next week (when I have to get super-kills in mayhem).

1 ReplyIKR, pvp should be erased for good. i'm not good, just decent at it. @Bungie, perhaps make your own game with pvp focus but still destiny-ish? or make separate dlc for pvp very expensive, so that only try hard will fight other try hard. -long live teamplay
-
Let's say the top 5% are destroying opponents...(probably more like 1% but let's be generous) Top 5%...from this and other posts of think that 5% = 99.9% You barely match the pubstompers, that 1/20 game is not a big deal Forcing tryhards into tourney like games each game is a far bigger deal then the occasional game you get stomped on
-
Well, first off I'd like to say as a pvp person and hearing your hand troubles in general try turning you game sensitivity up that might help and try using private matches to hone skills sadly, that's all I have to contribute but I hope I helped in any way, shape, or form!
-
When 1% of the players are in 100% of all the PVP matches. Magic.
-
4 RepliesGosh, what happened to the days where CBMM was loved because that was as casual as it got. Now the very thought of having to fight people that are too hard/easy triggers people.

I dont understand how ur disability has anything to do with matchmaking.

13 RepliesEdited by Black Magic: 8/2/2018 3:47:52 AMJust don’t play Crucible. Problem solved.

8 RepliesWhere are the bragging rights for ppl that are amazing at PvP if we have sbmm? If you are a potato, for whatever reason, should you be able to access the same gear or rewards as the elite players? In any activity? Are we wanting participation medals again? You don't win the premier league cup by playing in division 3.
-
Let me encourage you to play the Crucible, no matter what. Now, time may be a factor for you, and if so, then that will make it difficult to achieve your goals. Look, I am basically a low average to a below average player. I simply can't play with the best of them. I certainly can't play against a team of them. So, I don't try. If I am so overmatched that I cannot get a kill, then I move on to the next match. It is ok if you do too. I play for kills. If I am in a Control match, and the score says we have no chance to win, which happens a lot, then I stop playing control and just go for kills. It is really stupid to set on a control point when you are behind 30 or more points. You aren't going to win, so go have some fun. Don't let yourself get down when you get repeatedly killed. It certainly happens to me. Play a lot if you can, and play for kills. Then go to Destiny Tracker, put your own game tag in and watch your progress. If you want too, go check me out on the number of kills, which is what I am playing for. I am doing quite well for a below average player. You can too.

6 RepliesEdited by ITzTricky_x: 8/2/2018 5:46:53 AMCan always choose to not play crucible as well. I love destiny but raids take too long for me, so I never complete raid milestones ever. I still enjoy destiny very much without completing every single milestone every week.
