I wish you could just freely explore the infinite forest to make up for mercury being so small. I originally got the impression you could freely explore the infinite forest. Seriously imagine the potential they could add in the infinite forest. More public events, mazes to figure out, mini bosses that open gateways etc etc.
Who else agrees?
Loving the feedback from everyone and other players ideas

What’s to explore ? That’s the issue not just that we can’t go in it’s all just generate some platforms w AI on them.... don’t confuse Destiny w having any depth to explore not until they prove other wise

7 RepliesIt really should have been this way. Could you imagine if only certain pieces had lost sectors? It would be fun trying to find it. Public events would be cool too. I don’t understand how they botched this idea so badly. Maybe it was too time consuming?
-
I would love to wonder around the past or future. The path.leading up to it is very repetitive.
-
I thought it would work well as a horde mode, each section has slightly more enemies and maybe the level increases. Have some buffs, special rounds, etc Add some leaderboards and boom, you got a -godwinslaw!- zombie style game mode every game developer thinks we want. At least it would actually be an infinite forest.

Lol Bungie devs are lazy as donkey balls. They won’t do shit!
-
I was wondering the same thing

1 ReplyIt would be disappointing to think nothing more will ever come of was a very interesting premise and could have been such a cool and interesting place. If bungie could pull something off that would go a long way in restoring some faith in their loyal fan base. But realistically I don't believe they will. There is stuff from D1 there still trying to get in this game like private matches, not to mention they would have surely already moved on to designing future content. And would improving the infinite forest bring players back to Destiny? Debatable but doubtful.
-
yeah, it would be dope if there were patrols in the INF.
-
This is actually what I thought it was
-
Agreed! That space is amazing, and I hope they open it up more in the future...
-
The Infinite Forest could be the new horde mode, of sorts.
-
2 RepliesI personally hate the infinite forest, but I don't see why it and ancient mercury are off limits.
-
I dreamed it like thas but nope.
-
Like if you've never been to and will never go to the infinite paywall
-
Imagine the infinite forest being a Gauntlet. Jump into the forest and it begins simulating a background and boss. Defeat the boss and it begins simulating a new boss, with each boss dropping better rewards. I mean, it would cause people to grind and have a new feature you can do, I get why you want to explore the place though, Mercury is just a big vex platform.
-
Agreed. This totally should be patrolable. Your ghost even asks to come back to explore.
-
3 RepliesNothing .........Nothing more than a glorified Heroic Lost Sector. Cant believe that this is the best that Bungie can do...... the company that made Marathon, Halo and etc
-
2 RepliesRemember the show Sliders? Imagine the infinite forest being like that!
-
Oh hell yeah I agree. I think that would be cool to kind of follow in Osiris's footsteps when exploring the Infinite Forest.
-
Ya. I was watching Unknown Player's thoughts of the latest update and he made an interesting suggestion where we could visit Mercury/Lighthouse map in the past and future via the IF, which gives us 3 play areas to investigate / do things in. It would be very cool if we could do the same thing for the other D2 planets (Earth, Titan and Nessus) and visit them in Past and Future too. That would give us another 6 worlds to explore.
-
The bridges between 'trees' are boring, but the past, apt present and both futures are awesome and we don't get to see enough of them. Would be great if we could dip in to them to explore on patrol. Add some new public events relative to the past and future and they could be really fun. Each could have their own Court of Oryx, Archons Forge thing going on too. But alas no.
-
BUMP! Yep! I agree! The Infinite Forest in my opinion was a huge missed opportunity. The fact that Mercury is so small really makes me wish we could patrol the forest. One of the adventures shows us possibilities of a horde mode (when you're defending against the Hive) and with the forest always changing the horde mode variants could be endless...
-
Uhh yeah...and future merc. I swear thats the dumbest thing about this entire expansion. I have fun with the game, but i have no idea why they would create such an awesome space only to be used for 2 missions. Hopefully they will give us a horde wave or other mode in the future. That would be sweet.

1 ReplyThat feeling when you find a post that is about how the game could be better rather than one just saying "the game is bad" Now multiply that feeling by 10. That is me right now. (Especially considering this is an Amazing Idea!)

As is, no way whatsoever. Whenever I go in there for a strike or adventure I run through it as fast as poss and get annoyed if I have to kill enemies to open a gate. With changes, such as you propose, sure!
