A great vid dispelling myths about the so called 10 year plan for Destiny, and why we have these misconceptions. Who's fault is it?

4 RepliesThey never said they have a 10 year plan for that one game, it's a ten year plan for the destiny series
-
1 ReplyI personally never expected there to be only one game. The fact that Destiny was originally conceived for the PS360 meant that it would need to jump to the following gen at some point. I'm fine with there being three full retail releases. I'm fine with having DLC and expansions. What I am not fine with is cutting people out of content they've previous had access to because the did not purchase the newest DLC/expansion. I'm also a bit miffed at not being able to bring items forward.

1 ReplyYou should also link his video on Anthem's ten year plan, since a lot of people are propping it up as another Destiny-killer. A lot of what Ive seen of Anthem, looks eerily similar to the pre-vanilla marketing leading up to D1.

A great example of what happens when you don't do school and stay in drugs.
-
6 RepliesI feel so dumb for watching that. How can you misconstrue the term "Destiny" as a single game and not the franchise? People need to stay in school... I have no emoji to express how condescending that video is. Have a camel: 🐫
-
8 RepliesLet's be realistic here, plans change. They don't stay the same. Especially if the pieces don't fit anymore
-
2 RepliesThey must be very happy that they only needed the first 3 years of that plan to develop D2 which looks to be perfect. They can sit back and relax for the next 7 years.

Edited by DeadlyMenace: 8/5/2017 8:34:32 AMGreat info. I don't believe the information was poorly passed across by bungie like he states. I believe it was/is deliberate. Look at the iron gjally fiasco. How many logged in to roi expecting to find a lovely prezzie at the postmaster? That was a deliberately misleading pre order offer. I picked up on the wording at the time and made a post on here, only to be ridiculed by the believers who were convinced they were just being gifted a new rocket launcher.

Plan: Kill our franchise with PvP Result: Bankruptcy
-
38 RepliesD1 make a awesome game D2 remove all the reasons D1 was fun. D3 try and win players back by making things like they were in D1. D4 sell company stock and work on resume.
-
4 RepliesBungie's ten year plan: Make as much money from the IP known as: Destiny. You're welcome.
-
4 RepliesSo, here's the real question...After release of D2 will all of our items that we amass once again get swept under the rug for another "fresh start" in D3? After putting in over 3,000 hrs in D1 I can GUARANTEE that I won't put close to that many hrs in on D2. Eververse purchases....nevermore😡

1 ReplyWhen was the last time anyone could stick to a 10yr plan??
-
6 RepliesThe final boss will be our own ghost. Remember my words!
-
The plan failed during the vanilla's development. Fire off ya boi over petty stuff and keep using his mixtape for the game's soundtrack...
-
2 Replieswell...... if you put " " round the 10 year plan it makes sense. Of course we see 10 years of DLC, they see repurchasing the game at least 2 times. (destiny 3 2020!) so thus the need of " ".
-
Edited by Vizard: 8/4/2017 1:50:56 AM10 year with 4 games and 3 expansions on the first 3. Allegedly 😕 Lesson of the story?
Wait for D4, as it'll be.... "The full game".
Pin It! and thank me almost a decade from now.

6 RepliesUhhh look dude. It's never about poor communication skills with Bungie. And especially anything that crackdivision is part of.. They told you what they wanted you to know. They give you the information they want you to have, but only enough so that you can't sue them for false advertising when you get the final product. Why did everyone think that Destiny was going to be a 10 year game that just got updated over and over?.............. Because that's what they wanted you to think. Ignore what they say, just pay attention to what they do. Like Destiny 2 preorder bonuses. "Receive a legendary sword and exotic trace rifle".... Notice what they don't say?..................... You know Hawkmoon was supposed to be a ps4 exclusive, and an armor set that was exclusive to the ps4... Except. The drop percentage of the Hawkmoon year one?................. I literally didn't get it until taken king came out. That exclusive armor? It's rare so nobody can use it except in crucible. So when they say "Legendary sword"... All they have to say is "oh we just meant to imply it would be so cool looking it would be legendary... We didn't mean it's gear class..."... Or for that matter, how you get this stuff. You receive it.. Or more accurately I've been hearing the term "receive access to" as it applies to this sword and rifle... Translation?... To get either of them, you'll probably have to go on some bullshit quest that will take most players six months to grind their way through, theeeen they'll "Receive access" to the rifle and sword. It is entirely possible we'll just log in and that weapon will be in our vault, or pre-equipped on our character, or in our post master or everfarce. But seriously... We know Bungie..... What are the odds of that actually being the case?

5 RepliesEdited by spartanx169x: 8/3/2017 8:59:40 PMI remember back when that rumor started on multiple game sites, that it was going to be a single game with add-ons. I said that was completely made up BS. I had many debates over this. I was right the whole time. I said then, if they had done Destiny that way, they would do nothing but alienate players and discourage any potential new players because they would be so far behind in leveling/ lore learning curve and such it would they would end up with nothing but a small hardcore playerbase. It makes perfect sense they would have 3 or 4 games. That gives them multiple opportunities to change the direction if the fans don't like it. Then there was the idea that your leveling would carry over to the new game. I called BS on that as well. for the same reasons. that may have even been true. But again it would have just discouraged people that didn't keep up from the first game. All that said, D2 will be like so many other sequels. It will devide the community. Some players will leave because of it no matter what Bungie does with the game. Others will adapt and stay and there will be new players. This is very reminiscent of How Halo has went over the years. There are STILL fans that argue over the SPRINT mechanic being in Halo, even though there has now been 3 consecutive games with sprin, there is a 15K comment thread on Halowaypoint right now that continues because of people stuck in their ways. Expect the same thing on this site.

3 RepliesThe 10 year plan was based on a series of game and expansion releases remaining on schedule. Which as we know in this industry is wishful thinking. At the end of the day they are currently a year behind schedule so it will be a little more than 10 years, so what?
-
9 RepliesI watched that last night. My question is - because Bungie is so far behind schedule, is their 10 year partnership with Activision also extended out beyond 10 years? Or in 2020, will they be free to break away from Activision and seek a new publisher/financier for their IP? Its interesting because this could most certainly impact the development of D3 and if D2 flops majorly, that could mean some bigtime changes to how this game is developed in D3 if bungie gets a new publisher AND decides to scrap their D2 format.

1 ReplyAnother individual that likes to lay the blame on anybody but himself. Shocker!!!

3 RepliesEdited by CookieNiki: 8/3/2017 8:36:30 PMTo be honest I see no myths or misconceptions about the 10 years plan and that video made nothing but confirm that they never existed in the first place. Bungie in their vidocs and interviews implied that the STORY would have a lifespan of 10 years and for that matter, as far as I know, a game story can be divided into sequential releases of the game, as like Destiny 1, DLC 1, 2, 3, Destiny 2, DLC 1, 2, 3, and so on until that last 10th year. That was, I believe, the original plan from Bungie (and looks that still is) and everyone understood it correctly. Also, the contract states absolutely nothing that contradicts the 10 year plan as it was initially promoted. It's supposed to be a STORY that unfolds to it's conclusion in 10 years and it's always the same game evolving through the years.

Whoever thought Destiny 1 was a 10 year plan is an idiot.

nice post! to put it nicely many players been mislead.
