Why is it that every time someone's skill comes into question, the first thing I hear from someone is "Your crucible K/D sucks, so you suck"? Seriously, I heard someone say that to someone else in WotM the other day. Totally unrealated to the current situation.
EDIT: People were missing the point of the second paragraph and it was kind of porly written on my part, so I'm modifying it.
Basically:
There are people who don't really try in PVP that are good at PVE, and there are people who wreck in PVP that can't seem to grasp raids. So don't base your judgements of one on the other.
EDIT 2: Something I forgot to bring to light before despite being the primary reason my own K/D is lower than it ought to be (Thanks to BrassedoffDan for reminding me)-
You can easily get a good K/D by being in the back the whole game. But some of us aren't sissies. Some of us are AGGRESSIVE. We're going to break their lines, grab those crests, cap that Bravo objective, dunk that rift, or just straight up disrupt the enemy by any means necessary, and take down as many enemies as we can in the process! If being that shift in momentum and topping the team comes at the cost of a few more deaths, so be it. Guardians are immortal after all.
EDIT 3: There are three other K/D-affecting things I should mention.
1. Unbalanced teams- you know the games. Where you end up against a full team and your team is getting repeatedy wiped by teamshotting, pack memtality grenade spam, and super chains. One game wouldn't be so bad, but there are days when you need to get something done and you're just getting steamrolled every game. Speaking of which-
2. Bounty/quest grinding- Good example: When you really just want to get the thorn quest over with, mayhem isn't up, and all you have is a shotgun and a few smoke bombs.
3. Just generally not trying all the time- Maybe you are grinding the crucible while watching a funny youtube video snapped. Maybe you like to play drunk every once in a while. Maybe you're too tired to do good, but too awake to go asleep. Plenty more examples, I'm sure.
EDIT:
4. Dropping in mid match on a losing team and getting repeatedly slain by supers and heavy. Thanks Scrubbiest Scrub

It only matters if you need to make "friends" who want to play trails. I've asked so many times and I get blown off because everyone has a friend with a higher KD than me lol
-
Ofcourse k.d doesn't matter, we're only as good as our connections will allow us to be.
-
Stylosa once told me KD doesn't matter.
-
My kd isn't very good but I really don't care. I rarely pvp unless its a quest or to get weapons. I play the objective and if I rack up kills then cool if not oh well. It's all about having fun to me.
-
I agree, I rarely play pvp unless it's iron banner. When I am playing IB I do care how well I'm doing but I'd takes a backseat to fun. Fun is why I play this game not kd. I understand some people take kd and stats very seriously but try to understand there is another side of that coin. Some people are only playing this game for kicks.

2 RepliesMeh, I could care less about K/D in a video game. I mean, I'm about as casual as they come and this is supposed to be a way to chill after work or on lazy weekends. If I need another beer while in a match, I get up and grab one. Pizza delivery? Let me take care of it... And serve the kids & myself before jumping back in. Oven beeping because the carrot cake my wife made is ready? Screw you Shaxx, I won't let that overcook... #DadGaming

Depends on the game type. Clash - it matters, objective games, within reason it isn't really a big deal
-
In only the pvp bubble, k/d does matter a bit. But I usually look at the recent or last month on how they did. A persons lifetime k/d can be wrong especially if you see how they do in recent games. Still getting more kills than deaths adds more points to your team and less points for the enemy.
-
5 RepliesYou never hear and elite player saying kd doesn't matter. It's always the average or less than average players asserting this opinion. And why do they time after time try to tell us that kd doesn't matter? *whispers* its because they truly do care about their kd or else they wouldn't be so sensitive about it
-
translated for everyone: Im bad and self-conscience about it

7 RepliesEdited by Redwood: 11/2/2016 11:17:42 PMAnyone else remember when crucible was actually a fun and relaxing experience? RIP CBMM.... Edit: Looks like there isn't that many Y1 players left.

Who cares. It's just a number

Its funny when bungie comments on a post every body flocks to reply to that post with off topic notes. Lol
-
1 Reply.99 kd on my main titan which i have 40 days lol it seems no matter what his kd wont reach 1 ive murdered him.... lol

Kd has become more and more subjective imo. The people with ridiculous 2.5 kds and up can no longer perform at that level consistently due to bungle prioritizing sbmm more. That goes for peeps hovering at 1.9-2.0 range as well it just isn't possible anymore the lobby that you would get are far more intelligent players and you're essentially going up against some of the best players in this game. Let me add that this is only if you solo que. The game has to be competitive at the end of the day guys. I understand if you're coming from the point that lag is your issue but most peeps complain about not being able to pub stomp as consistently anymore. I understand that sometimes you just wanna wreck some people, but isn't more worthwhile that you wreck some high skill players rather than a bunch of Christmas noobs

It does matter! If i had a 2.0kd i would have visited the lighthouse by now. But, in all my "scrubyness" 1.1kd, i'll never get there. All i want is a damm pulse or scout from the lighthouse. Things i'll never get.

3 RepliesEdited by Cold__Spaghetti: 11/1/2016 10:04:11 PMI know a kid has a 2.5 KD is a beast in trials but can't stay alive to do a raid on Heroic. Now my KD sucks in PvP but I can roll with the best in a raid.

Edited by Krampus3637: 11/3/2016 4:46:37 AMMy KD is awfull ,,, but i can raid and get to the highest light , didnt play pvp for over a year so thats why its as bad as it is.. PS i dont care :) Also you have very low light for such a great player (ducks as bezial gets spammed)

Looks don't matter at all, I love her for her brain. =P

13 RepliesI have a diploma in computer science, there are those that have the knowledge but not the credentials. Without credentials, people have to go on your word, without knowing anything about you. So yes, kdr is one of the few things people have to go on to know if you have the experience to form a fairly unbiased opinion on the state of pvp. Kdr matters, brushing aside low kdr opinions is quite justified.
-
Yeah, I don't care about K/D either. I have fun being at the top of my team or at the bottom. Most kills for me was 32 or 33 kills in a game, 17 kill-streak and 1 million + teabags. If we played in a match against each other, you know what I'm talking about. #teabagforlife

Edited by xxBURNxNOTICExx: 11/3/2016 3:15:06 AMPersonally, I like being the decoy. Nothing more satisfying than running balls out at a couple of players, sucking up their attention, and watching from my ghost as my teammates shred them while they reload.

It's all about medal score instead haha
