Yes. Yes it is, for the following reasons:
1. It promotes entirely selfish play, even on a fireteam. I’ve played solo and in a full team of six, and there is little teamwork involved (other than yelling “Grab that crest!” or “Stormcaller incoming.”)
2. Let’s be honest: racking-up kills when nobody grabs the crest gets real old, real fast.
3. As a Day 1 shotgunner, shotguns are a plague in this game mode. Because of it, they’ll likely get nerfed.
4. Slide shotgunning is the Call-of-Dutiest tactic, and should be essentially removed from the game. Sliding should be a defensive tactic; it should be pure luck if you happen to hit your target while sliding.
5. This game mode is best-suited to twitchy kids and folks chugging Red Bull. The massive ADHD Hunter population is at home in a Supremacy Iron Banner.
6. Finally, and most troubling, Iron Banner Supremacy brings out the worst of the PvP player. I have seen more teabagging and taunting in this IB than in any previous IB. Not good, Bungie. This is NOT the PvP play you want to be promoting. Or maybe it is.
Edit:
7. Picking up a crest should NOT charge your super. Only kills - whether the crest is picked-up or not - should charge your super.

Op is tomato, he complained about people taking his crests and then complained about people not grabbing his crests
7. Picking up a crest should NOT charge your super. Only kills - whether the crest is picked-up or not - should charge your super.
I both agree and disagree with this point, CL. Agree point -seems like there are way too many supers sometimes within a match Disagree point -all OBJ in modes award a portion of super energy for successfully achieving the OBJ, whether it be capturing a zone in Control or Salvage, dunking a spark in rift, etc. What I think they need to do is adjust the amount of super gained per crest to bring it a little bit more in line. I don't think it should be solely based on kills like you are suggesting.

11 Replies7. Kill credits are the same as picking up a crest. Once again, you obviously know nothing about the game mode.
-
5 RepliesWasn't clash, control, and rift considered to be the worst? you guys keep changing your mind every IB lol.
-
I feel bad that your experience with this IB has been this poor. I prefer fast paced objective game modes and have had a lot of fun with this one.
-
I've had fun with it. Shotguns are everywhere, but if you assign teammates into "killers" and "grabbers" it works pretty well. The killers sit back and kill the other guys. The grabbers sprint in securing and denying crests.

IB clash and rift is worse.

6 RepliesI'm surprised to see so many people I usually agree with, hating on this IB. This was by far the best IB I've ever had as far as leveling up. I got at least one of every gun besides the pulse and MG. Several loot drops were 7-9 levels above what I had. I had my highest lvl gear on the whole time in hopes of getting the highest lvl loot. Because of this I equipped a useless sniper most of IB. I'm a casual pvp player, but I had no trouble getting the most kills on my random fireteams, several times, with nothing but my abilities and the new auto rifle. I completed the special abilities kill several matches before I could get the weapons kill bounty done. I definitely seemed to die from abilities the most as well. IMO, the new artifacts did more damage than shotguns. Maybe if fusion rifles had SOME consistency, shotguns wouldn't have been the obvious choice for so many players.
I want to like fusions, but I can shoot someone in the numbers, from 30ft and get a kill, then run across the same person later in the match, shoot them in the same spot, from 10ft away, and barely break their shield.
I really am surprised so many people didn't like this IB. I played enough to reach rank 5 with 3 characters and never once thought shotguns were out of control. I had fun with it. Supremacy is a run a gun roller coaster. I can't tell you how many times my team was down by a lot, but grouped together to make a huge comeback.

I'm Pretty sure rifts was the worst especially for solo players like me at least with this I can follow a group and scoop up there crests or give them assist

Its probably the best IB for solo players. games dont need much in the way of strategy, though map control helps funnel people to choke points where you have the advantage. but it doesnt need it. supremacy was kind of built for cqc action packed action. reminds me a lot of the thorn fellwinter meta where everyone moved. which after the last year of snipers and scouts I would say I enjoy as its a massive change to how slow crucible had become. shotguns in this game type were bound to be massive but like i said after a year of snipers i can put up with that. the balance of the game is a lil bit off though like you say. between teams running with the charge up others supers (skorri's artifact) and then they all just hit supers and get tags powering the next supers the game can become a massive super fest. tags shouldnt charge supers, couldnt agree any more. I find it funny when people taunt. its IB, the lag is unreal and 90% of the times you think you outplayed someone chances are lag had a big impact. taunting off the back of that just says a lot about you. as for kill wh0res, doesnt matter what game type those people will only do themselves. just gotta hope that you have a hoover on your team who follows them and scoops the tags up.

I would rather die from a shotty than a camping sniping pusc...

1 ReplyI think the current IB setup in general needs work. Only 4 bounties all week that you can Polish off in like an hour or 2? And then make the good weapons only drop through RNG on 2 of those?! Great, I got 1 Clever Dragon and 1 Distant Star both with crappy rolls. Looks like I'll be just wasting time and not trying hard for the remainder of this IB since there's no incentive other than drops at the end that can increase my light level.

1: I absolutely agree that shotguns are dominating supremacy. But that's because it's a close quarters fast paced playlist. You have to pick up the crest to win and that means getting close to the enemy. So close range weapons should be expected. 2: Fire teams are not going to all be the same. If your fire team lacked communication and played selfishly...that's your fire team, and the players you play with. 3: Teabagging/taunting happens for whatever reason. Again, not the game mode, just the players you're with or against.

6 RepliesI hate it just shows what a load of asshats the pvp'ers are selfish self-entitled idiots who care more about stealing crests than getting kills its like you are playing against 11 other players cause no-one is interested in helping teammates most of my crests are stolen by my own sliding shotgun teammates and yes when I need crests etc for bounties and quests it does matter!!!
-
4 RepliesNo it's not, let's remember when bungie though rift was a good idea. Not to mention totally one sided if you had a team of 6.
-
3 RepliesI was glad to see a game type that did not promote sniper use.

1 Replyive had the precise opposite experience with almost every bullet point, aside from your point about crests charging super, which will likely be rebalanced, and if anything, is indicative that it wasnt fully play tested. im sorry youve had shit luck, but this is the most fun ive had in an IB since HoW(even if i suck at the gamemode). and as someone who has rank 5'd in all but one IB previously, (most on all 3 classes at that) rift is still the unquestioned worst. even the worst of supremacy isnt even in the same league of terrible.

1 ReplyEdited by joey big guns: 10/8/2016 4:30:08 PMNo, Rift was. No mode will ever be as bad as Rift. Ever. Haven't seen one T-bag since IB started this go around. Are you just being "sensitive"?? Shotguns are fun and haven't been used much in a while, quit whining Nancy. I've seen more team work with groups of randoms than any IB since Iron Banana started and seeing as how I've played pretty much solo since the beta I think I have an idea of how it has been.
-
Not my favorite game mode, but how come every time they place a different game mode for IB, someone has to call it the worst game mode ever. The ones who do that have an issue with change. You probably won't be saying this the next time IB comes around because the same thing happened when they made it clash. As a matter of fact, the second time clash came around it was praised as a good job. The only thing that needs to be fixed here is the lag. It's really ridiculous to call this a premium game without having dedicated servers.

3 RepliesStill see the occasional sniper who snipes across the map.

2 RepliesRift was the perfect team based game mode.
