Yes. Yes it is, for the following reasons:
1. It promotes entirely selfish play, even on a fireteam. I’ve played solo and in a full team of six, and there is little teamwork involved (other than yelling “Grab that crest!” or “Stormcaller incoming.”)
2. Let’s be honest: racking-up kills when nobody grabs the crest gets real old, real fast.
3. As a Day 1 shotgunner, shotguns are a plague in this game mode. Because of it, they’ll likely get nerfed.
4. Slide shotgunning is the Call-of-Dutiest tactic, and should be essentially removed from the game. Sliding should be a defensive tactic; it should be pure luck if you happen to hit your target while sliding.
5. This game mode is best-suited to twitchy kids and folks chugging Red Bull. The massive ADHD Hunter population is at home in a Supremacy Iron Banner.
6. Finally, and most troubling, Iron Banner Supremacy brings out the worst of the PvP player. I have seen more teabagging and taunting in this IB than in any previous IB. Not good, Bungie. This is NOT the PvP play you want to be promoting. Or maybe it is.
Edit:
7. Picking up a crest should NOT charge your super. Only kills - whether the crest is picked-up or not - should charge your super.

Edited by MenTaL9R: 10/13/2016 11:57:53 PMGood post, a few of my thoughts below. Normally I agree with you, but this time I differ in a few places. First and foremost I don't think Supremacy was the worst IB ever, to me Rift holds that esteemed honor hehe... :-)
Yes. Yes it is, for the following reasons: 1. It promotes entirely selfish play, even on a fireteam. I’ve played solo and in a full team of six, and there is little teamwork involved (other than yelling “Grab that crest!” or “Stormcaller incoming.”)
I would disagree a little here. It was easier to get wins on a fireteam vs. solo. We'd communicate and stick together making sure someone grabbed crests. Solo, yeah that was a bit of a problem.
2. Let’s be honest: racking-up kills when nobody grabs the crest gets real old, real fast.
This is true, again, with a fireteam this wasn't really a problem.
3. As a Day 1 shotgunner, shotguns are a plague in this game mode. Because of it, they’ll likely get nerfed.
Shotguns are tailor made for this game, it no surprise they're being used a lot. Bungie would have to be complete idiots to nerf shotguns because of one game mode.
4. Slide shotgunning is the Call-of-Dutiest tactic, and should be essentially removed from the game. Sliding should be a defensive tactic; it should be pure luck if you happen to hit your target while sliding.
Oh man... here is one I have to disagree with. To me its just part of the game. I'm not the best at it but it's a strategy that works and can save your life against fusions rifles as some of the fusion projectiles go over your head. To me there's way bigger problems in the game.
5. This game mode is best-suited to twitchy kids and folks chugging Red Bull. The massive ADHD Hunter population is at home in a Supremacy Iron Banner.
Aren't most of the people playing this game twitch kids? I'm an old guy and I found that I did ok most of the time. My biggest issue is with the matchmaking being terrible, and the fact that they don't appear to consider light level when doing it. In the vast majority of the games I played solo I was matched with people that had light levels that was 25+ higher than mine. I lost a lot of one on one encounters purely because of that. Shotgun trades for me were few and far between, I'd be dead and they would still have just a bit of health left as expected. That said, ya it's a mode that favors the dexterity and reflexes of youth.
6. Finally, and most troubling, Iron Banner Supremacy brings out the worst of the PvP player. I have seen more teabagging and taunting in this IB than in any previous IB. Not good, Bungie. This is NOT the PvP play you want to be promoting. Or maybe it is.
This! Yep, I'm not sure what was going on but you're right. There was an abundance of that happening. I had people tea-bagging me that happened to kill me after I killed 1 or 2 of their buddies and had no health and they get me from behind. And its like really? That's tea-bag worthy? Bizarre...
Edit: 7. Picking up a crest should NOT charge your super. Only kills - whether the crest is picked-up or not - should charge your super.
Kind of on the fence on this one but for the most part I agree with the idea that you shouldn't get super energy from both sources. I would suggest (and to your point above) that both kill confirmed crests and deny crests should give charge your super, and unconfirmed kills shouldn't. This would address your above concern of people running around not picking up crests. Nothing would annoy me more than to get killed with teammates around and see my crest sitting there and no one grabbing it. I actually had this on a few occasions where I was able re-spawn and get it myself with the same idiots still sitting close to it trying to kill people across the map with their Mida and no hope of ever picking up the crests from the kills they were getting. Anyway, yep improvements can be made. Personally, it was one of more fun IB's I think. I liked the pace of it, crucible for the bulk of year 2 was a snipe fest and people sitting back waiting all the time. I liked that we had to move in this mode, I found it way more fun that normal. I think Supremacy might be my favorite game mode hehe... A couple thoughts though. 1. Bungie needs to rethink the limit on Iron Medallions if they aren't going to award anything for loses and wins along with the 4 weekly bounties is the only way forward, it gets old real fast when the matchmaking is so bad. Never seen so many people quit rounds so early. To me that was a plague. I think they should allow up to 10 medallions and automatically cash them in regardless of whether or not you win that 11th game. That way at least it doesn't feel so futile. 2. I mentioned matchmaking above. If they were using SBMM it didn't feel like it. I could count on one hand the number of rounds I played in that were close. Other than that it was lopsided all the time and almost always had the "we're breaking up these teams to fine a better match" message at the end. 3. Matchmaking needs to consider light level for IB like events. It was night and day for me playing with people at or near my light level vs. being put in all the time with those that were way higher. It adds to the feeling of futility and discouragement when things are going bad knowing full well there's not a lot you can do about it.

7 RepliesPersonally i thought it was the best iron banner ive ever played and im a day 1 player. The game type promotes map movement, camping was at a minimum. People who arent very good at PvP in general will suffer as the gameplay is fast paced and close combat.
-
3 RepliesI like it so darn much that if IB is supremacy next time around I will not play it.
-
7 RepliesI have never been so bored in IB. The lack of competition is insane. I hope Supremacy is never used for Iron Banner again. While you could say it's an objective game I beg to differ. Since the meta as a whole is pure shotgun, and crest are essentially picked up as you kill there isn't any real objective besides get close and pick up as you kill, or camp back and pick off people and let some else pick them up. It really is a horrible Game mood. I will get hate for this, but this is the lowest skilled meta/Iron Banner we have had yet.
-
2 RepliesAgreed. Except for the Hunter part. Every class had its cheese. No back up plans titans and juggernaut. Storm callers shined and blinking void walkers too.
-
2 RepliesI gotta be honest, even though there were some frustrating moments during this IB I thought it was the best one yet. Not the game-mode specifically, but the progression and rewards. This is the first time I've hit 5 on all 3 characters since back in the beginning of IB and that was because it was easy and so I actually wanted to play on my other characters to get the great drops from the bounties and quest. I hope they give the quest each IB and I hope they keep the bounties dropping decent gear. Supremacy isn't the best mode, but it wasn't the worst either. The only change I'd want them to make is to get a little rep when you lose. As is, you get the medallion which is cool but so many people quit early when losing because they've got the max number of medallions so adding some rep gains even in losses would help out I think.

32 RepliesOkay, finally have a bit of time to give some IB feedback. 1. Efrideet's introduction. Lame and lazy. Efrideet: "Hey, no statue for me?" Saladin: "No b1tch, knew you weren't dead. Now go run Iron Banner" Efrideet: "Okay!" Guardian: "Wassup?" Efriddet: "Hey I run Iron Banner now! I come from some far off place with other exiled Gaurdians!" Guardian: "Wait, what? Can you tell me more?" Efrideet: "Nope! Here's your bounties. Have fun getting face -blam!- by shotgunners!" Guardian: "FAH-KING BUNGIE!!!!" Great job Bungie. 2. Supremacy is not a game type I like to play. I'm not known for my calm demeanor. But man I haven't raged while playing this game in quite some time. Last time I did I didn't play PVP for 3 months. Here's some things: Nothing matters but the crests. I had a brilliant play last night where with a well placed lightning grenade, great aiming with my IB Pulse Rifle and changing to my Fusion I ACED 4 opponents. It was a beautiful -blam!-ing move. Wish I had the sense to say "Xbox record that!". Then I got shotgunned in the side of the head when moving towards the crests. I was absolute anyway, a breeze could have knocked me over. Now, not only did that shotgun dickface get 2 crests off of me, I just gave him 4 more points from my kills because I couldn't get there in time before getting shotgun humped! Nah man, FAQ THAT! Promotes B1tch Tactics. My most successful run yesterday, ran 7 games with a group that picked me up from a matchmaking round. Won 5 out of 7, not bad. The reason we were winning is that the group was run by an uptight -blam!-wad that whined, bitched, and moaned at all of us to keep us all in a tight group together and hard aim down choke points and wait for the bad guys to come to us. Anyone who ran out of the group was yelled at. When things didn't go our way this guy cried like a little bitch. I was so desperate for some wins to hit rank 5 I dealt with it for a while. After the 7th game I told the guy and his group to go get -blam!-ed, I wasn't going to listen to his shit a second longer or play like a little twat anymore. Nah man, FFFAAQQQQ TTTTHHAAATTT!!! 3. Pure objective based PVP that require a coordinated 6 man fire team to pull consistent wins is bad for Iron Banner, especially with the new bounty/rep system. For many, folks who play solo or groups of friends that don't PVP together much, it makes pulling a win EXTREMELY difficult at times. To the point where it's frustrating. It makes for a bad experience for many people. Sure, we've all had to eat some shit for a while to pull out a IB win to cash in those medallions, but I never experience win droughts like this in Control or Clash. Keep pure objective playlists in regular, daily, or even weekly crucible events. When IB rolls around, it's one of the main ways MANY people progress their characters or get a chance at top tier loot without having to raid. Control or Clash is the way to go. 4. Taking away daily bounties was stupid. See above, once you pop your weeklies you're stuck with grinding for a win to progress. My last run, last night, ran with a group of friends all of which are decent to good at PVP. 8 rounds, 8 losses. The try hards were -blam!-ing the shit out of our corpses. It sucked. Big time. I had already hit 5 earlier that day, was playing to help some friends progress, so it didn't bother me that much... plus looking for IB drops. Still a pretty big downer to get shat on 8 times in a row. 5. WTF is up with the 3oC Exotic drop rate. I've played 35 rounds of IB, gotten 2 Exotic Engrams. That's -blam!-ing bullshit! 6. Shotgun use hasn't really bothered me as it has others. I run Fusion. I think Shotgun is obviously the most effective weapon for this game type. But not impossible to beat. Sure, that damn Matador 64 has BULLSHIT range, but whatever. Can't blame folks for using the most effective tools available. I'm of the mind that if I'm going to get upset about that, it's up to me to grind out a good roll Matador 64 and learn to use it effectively. Don't want to, I'll keep using my Fusion.. and getting beat out 2 out of 3 times. I can live with it. Anyways, overall give IB Supremacy a thumbs down. Stick to what's good Bungie, go back to Control. Very good mix of objective game type where what really matters in an FPS, KILLS, separates the men from the boys. I'm out.

I absolutely loved it, such a change of pace from the snipe fest that crucible has become I play with guys that usually only snipe & after moaning at first they ended up loving it too, side arms finally useful, fusion rifles too I do def understand some of your points, but u should have just thought "of -blam!- it, ill go with this madness" Loved it!!!!!

1 ReplyI completely agree. I'm not really a fan of PVP in Destiny as it doesn't have any tactics whatsoever but I do play IB. IB Supremacy. Awful. It's like COD. Maps are tiny, everyone has rangefinder equipped shotguns and blink strike / sliding shot gunning is the order of the day. I played exactly to alts getting 5 then dropped out. It wasn't a pleasant experience. I can understand Bungie wanting to highlight a new game mode that maybe hasnt had the take up the work put in deemed a fair return but the game mode is just bad. I'm sure when they look at diagnostic figures and see 90% of the kills were shotguns 5% grenades then someone might have a little think that maybe the game mode needs a tweak. Hopefully we don't see that kind of mode in IB again

5 RepliesSupremacy is only good in full fireteams of 6, solo it's not good at all. Rewards wise it's been great but for me at least this Iron banner has been the least enjoyable.

Edited by TheKungLao: 10/11/2016 7:03:08 AMI'm still not sure where I stand on Supremacy as a game mode for Iron Banner. I had a rough time because my light level was in the low to mid 350's with all three characters. If I had been on equal footing I feel I would have enjoyed it a little more. The loot drops were many this go round so I'd say this is the most rewarding IB yet. I like the new weekly bounties that reward you for completion but don't like the exclusion of the daily bounties for leveling purposes. I didn't experience alot of teabaggers in this Iron Banner. I only recall it happening once or twice. It could be because I was trying to stick with the group so no one had the opportunity to bag me if I was downed without risking death. I slide shotgun maybe once every blue moon but it's not a tactic that bothers me when I'm killed with it. I wouldn't want to see it removed from the game, too much has been lost already. Shotguns are prevalent but not a plague, just a byproduct of the game mode. I found running with a group negates shotgunners almost entirely. I like the fast paced action of Supremacy and I think I'll like it more when and if it comes in Iron Banner again. Edit: I like Red Bull but it doesn't improve my game! Lol!

Edited by Orpheus49: 10/11/2016 6:26:39 AMI just realized that im a hunter and have trouble focusing (one of the main reasons im a terrible sniper) I feel insulted My quick reflexes come from extremely fast racing games like fzero and trackmania, not energy drinks and drugs Also had to be sharp, livin in the getto half my life

19 RepliesGuessing you aren't to good at a mode that isn't team deathmatch. Oh, try getting good.
-
1 ReplyI agree with this. This is the worst week of IB i have ever played. I have had no fun at all. But i keep playing cause i can level up fast and thats the worst part.
-
1 ReplyI absolutely hate IB this time around.
-
5 RepliesCompletely disagree. Sorry you had a bad experience really am. This has bean the best iron banner ever!! By far and wide!! CQC gamemode= shotguns Have to be close to pick up crest = shotguns Which in turn means super fast paced action. Which will also lead to some sore butts. You just don't like supremacy. It's okay the gamemode will fall away from featured playlist and all you have to do is stay out of that game mode. No nerfs needed. Oh and did I say BEST IRON BANNER To date?
-
1 ReplyI'm enjoying IB for once. As far as supremacy goes, I'm a solo player so I usually resort to a support role for the rest of the team. I like the change of play style occasionally.
-
1 ReplyNo Rift was.
-
1 ReplyThis is the most disappointing IB ive ever taken part in. This is so terrible, i feel as if im being punished now, having to subject myself to this torture just so i can participate in IB for this month. Mayhem clash would have been a more viable game mode than supremacy. I dont understand the need to put "kill confirm" in destiny to begin with, there are several other game modes to pull inspiration from. If supremacy is going to stick around then keep it out of the IB please!
-
I agree with you on all except for point 4. Slide shotgun should not be rng. There's enough randomized bs in pvp. Shooting should never be one of them. Although it already is so we. Pvp in this game is horrible. Shotguns have become a plague in every game mode. At least year one my sniper was still able to shoot guardians running around like morons. Now snipers are practically useless unless you're standing around 5 other players in a fire team of 6. It's way to easy to close distances and land enough damage to completely ruin the scoping mechanic. At this Point they may as well add the descope mechanic and put a sniper reticle on screen to balance it out because at present moment sniping is broken.
-
1 ReplyNeeds to go back to having daily and weekly bounties. Can be extremely frustrating or really fun. Wish people would figure out if you stick together and team shoot folks you generally win. Wish Iron Banner would just stay as Control.
-

Only kills - whether the crest is picked-up or not - should charge your super.
Seconded. Supremacy is basically Mayhem, but with the exception that if a team is winning, they'll likely increase that lead just because they're spamming supers.

3 RepliesEdited by GANTZ: 10/10/2016 9:51:28 AMthe best , if next IB is gonna be clash or control i wont even bother ,supremacy is love supremacy is life
-
44 RepliesSo at first I was skeptical of Supremacy. Then I played it... found it was similar to Unreal or another Twich shooter. Gotta say I love the mode. Fast paced, rewards aggressive play.. Probably my favorite IB. Sadly it seems I am the only one enjoying it.
-
1 ReplyThere is something wrong with this game mode. I've never seen so many unbalanced games as I do now. Weapons don't register and players not effected by supers. Most show green yet there is obvious signs of lag. Bungie manipulating players ?
