With the newest update, I have now won the past 8 of 9 sniper encounters I have had in the Crucible (and WITHOUT using the Sorta Sniper Killer aka Mida). And those 9 encounters didn't include the times where the sniper actually RAN AWAY! Gone are the days of the frontline sniper tank (with the exception of really skilled snipers)
In all seriousness though, this update was needed. Snipers are SUPPORT. Not tanks. They should next to never be winning head to head gunfights against scout/pulse/auto rifles. Now, I understand they have to have some benefit as remaining completely hidden (like a sniper should) is impossible with scope glare and radar. They should and need to be a threat...but not game breaking.

Yes. Thank you.

1 ReplyWas NLB affected in this update? I'm trying to remember if they said they excluded NLB from the increase sniper stagger

16 RepliesEdited by Val44: 9/19/2016 9:40:29 AMWith the increased flinch there is litterally no chance for me to land a snipe shot while im being shot at. None. You have to pop out of cover and get the drop on your enemy before he starts shooting or else that battle is lost.

oh wait, SNIPERS GOT NERFED!!! WHEN? i never noticed...huh...my longbow feels fine. 💪

9 RepliesAll they need to do now is remove Hidden Hand from being on snipers and remove aim assist on Sniper's completely.

1 ReplyA good sniper plays with angles and never challenges a primary in his range head on. Nobody will miss those hard scoping lane snipers after I slide around the corner with my high caliber rounds pulse :)
-
1 ReplyI love using sniper. It hasn't really effected my playstyle at all. I have noticed that people Hardscoping hallways is less of a death sentence. My doctrine forces them to retreat because with mad flinch. It's a change for the better. I don't agree with them changing the ability to shut down a super. If you're skilled enough to hit a stormcaller who's blinking around under pressure then you deserve the kill.

I can't tell any difference :)

4 RepliesYeah looks like its really working well...

I don't know what bungie is trying to tell us, first they they nerf the handling and increase scope zoom to stop aggressive sniping and promote hardscoping. And now they nerf them again because of too much hardscoping. Gee, i wonder why they did it. It's not like someone bitched on the forums after they lost an engagement to a sniper.

1 ReplySo relieved as well. Now all they need to do is kill aim assist/bullet curve so that only actual/true headshots will yield a kill.
-
2 RepliesI nice scout rifle will make them go running lmao
-
Considering I'm doing fine being a hard scoping pleb I would say those guys are trash cans lul

It reveals the actual players that can actually use a sniper efficiently than those who misses there 1st shot and panics by following up with their entire magazine only to be killed.

1 ReplyAt least 15 times yesterday I got sniped in the face while the guy was at like 1/4 health or less from being railed in the face by bullets I'm calling BS or they already ninja nerfed it, I'm sorry but theres no -blam!-in way I just get matched up with that many PRO ass mother -blam!-ers gtfo Btw this is while I'm not only landing headshots but strafing my ASS OFF with max agility/mida...
-
I like the change because now the Sniper requires skill and planning, versus hardscoping around corners. Now we've filtered out all the bad snipers (I'm horrific at sniping when it's not with Queenbreaker's), and the Crucible feels smoother.

Once you get off a nice first shot on them, you're doing good. It's a lot of fun playing the bigger maps and shaking them up with a scout.
-
In sweats with my clan I main sniper, and your more than right it's definitely support you can't have 1 or two hints of aggressive in there but it is souly support. Gotta respect an opinion that's valid bud your more than right this nerf was a long time coming nice post -bump-

7 RepliesI dont even notice the increasment to flinch. I think most people are over exaggerating the nerf, snipers are still (very) good. And for those who want to 1shot a super, there will be a highest inpact archetype sniper in RoI, with that you can 1shot.
-
I I love this update. I mainly snipe but I can deal with it. Although I was never that type of sniper that sits at back of the map the entire time.
-
I've done really well with nlb after the update, I am very happy with how they changed snipers, I no longer get quick scoped out of my super which is great.
-
2 RepliesGood snipers will still out snipe you in a gun fight. This update only took out all the bad snipers
-
6 RepliesAs a sniper... I have moved to being a Defender, Twilight Garrison skating, Shotgun warrior-ing, Armour of Light using -blam!-boi.
It honestly isn't even that bad. Idk why I wasnt doing this from the start cause I'm pretty good at it
6 RepliesI got a DIS-47 with full auto and high caliber rounds. It simply kills/forces into cover virtually all snipers now. I've never been a sniper, but I think the damage nerf, plus the flinch was perhaps too much. The flinch alone would have been sufficient a nerf in my humble opinion. I get that they want to encourage diversity of weapon use, but this philosophy should be applied to shotguns as well. Highest impact shotguns are really the only viable choice, and there us virtually nothing used but the usual suspects (CT-D, PC+1, Matador etc)
