If you’re reading this, you’re a part of our creative process at Bungie. The players have always been our partners at Bungie. It’s my job to make sure that continues to be true – more than ever before.
I see a lot of questions about what happens behind closed doors in our studio. I want to share some information with you about how Feedback is gathered here. Some of you have wondered what happens when great ideas or important issues are posted here on the Feedback forum.
When I first started as your Community Manager, I would send targeted feedback to specific developers. For example: When the community was reporting problems with Ogres teleporting, I sent your reports directly to the Raid team. That issue was later fixed in a patch. I'm not taking any credit for that. The community identified the problem, and the Raid team made the fix.
I still do this direct messaging whenever it makes sense, but my reports have evolved overtime. I was asked to create a general report about the Destiny community, including the overall sentiment, hot topics of discussion, and requests for changes/additions to the game. The bulk of those insights are sourced right here on this forum. I initially sent these reports to the creative leadership. A few months ago, I was asked by Pete (CEO) to expand the audience to include everyone at Bungie.
Now, you may be asking "Why don't you give us regular reports of the status of our requests?"
It can be complicated to comment on development work until an update or a hot fix is certified and ready to go. Game design is too turbulent to support public promises. Early ideas and plans are like sea turtles hatching on the beach. Many of them will never find their way to the sea. If there is a good idea on the forum, odds are it may have lived and died on one of our whiteboards. Or, it could even be in some stage of development. The best promises we can make about these things come in the form of patch notes – once they’ve made it into the water.
There are millions of players that all have various opinions on what Destiny should be. There are also hundreds of developers who have various opinions on what Destiny should be. It's not easy sorting through both sets to come up with final decisions, but we like including your feedback in the process, and appreciate you taking the time to share it with us.
If you keep sharing your ideas and opinions with us, I’ll keep working to build that bridge between you and the people who make the things you love. You’re the most important part of what we do, and there are more people listening to what you say now more than ever. Keep it up!

I Upgraded to a current gen console last month but there is no incentive to purchase the game again or pre order Rise of Iron. Why would we do so if everything we grind so many hours for is just thrown in the trash, left behind and made obsolete? If you wanna get those pre order sales back up? Bring back ALL year 1 loot/raids and KEEP them current. Give us your word they will never be obsolete again and see how fast me and plenty others run to the nearest store to be customers again. Otherwise, no thanks. I lost count LONG ago of how many posts and likes were received by topics about bringing year 1 forward. But the community outcry falls on deaf ears, so we WILL see if you actually "Value Feedback" because i like many others are in doubt.

1 ReplyYear 1 destiny was fun. But after all the nerf/buff it's starting to get really frustrating while playing this game. Bladedancer keeps shortstopping, sunsingers firebolt is shit, incendiary grenades doesn't kill anybody, Stormcallers got some serious range, Lightning grenades kill more people than tripmines, Incendiary grenades got a radius buff but suppression grenades didnt, blink doesn't feel as good. I know i know, maybe im complaining too much, but bungies form of "trying" to balance things is starting to make the game feel like shit. Maybe bungie is listening to the community, maybe they're not, because after every nerf/buff it seems like a lot of people is always unsatisfied. I feel like any more nerfs will just bring this game down to the ground. This game is still unbalance so what is going happen next?

Says the worst two community managers ever!

1 ReplyNo one mentioned what Activision wants. My guess is that they have more influence on the game than they should be allowed to. Tell them that it is actually possible to make fun games and make profit at the same time.
-
feedback is only useful if the other party involved listens and takes the feedback into consideration not flat out ignore it like the devs have been doing
-
1 Replyany words on the missing exotics or should we just keep pretending they never existed or were in the trailers for ttk??
-
2 RepliesRemove crucible from the game or at the very least completely seperate pvp and pve. No more nerfs put everything back to its max power

22 RepliesEdited by H_TOWN_BALLA_80: 7/12/2016 1:46:14 PMSome pretty "easy" fixes to start with: 1) - Go back to HoW structure (Etheric Light, whatever the weapon "balance" was at that time as well minus Thorn being king but do have Thorn be relevant) EDIT: To clarify, since we don't have infusion of Y1 gear right now I'm using Etheric Light as a way of saying "Make Y1 relevant again as Etheric Light did" (also, drop rates could easily be tweaked for it if literal Etheric Light were to be brought back). I don't know what the coding would be to have actual infusion for Y1 gear or how hard that would be. I do know that the coding for Etheric Light to bring things up already exists which is another reason I mention that specifically. If they can do some kind of infusion system then great, my point is, Etheric Light made ALL of Y1 relevant and there is no denying that and Y1 being relevant again is what a ton of people want. 2) - Keep the grind lower as it is now. 3) - Stop gargling on Reddit's jock. I'm not saying that bnet is pure as the driven snow, but at least it's not 90% blind "yes men" here to pat you guys on the back with whatever nerf comes next.

You posted this (I presume in hope of smoothing over things with the players), but it has only seemed to serve as another outlet for folks to tell you how incredibly one sided and ridiculous this game has become. We (the players) are in fact, NOT being listened to. It would seem that half the nerfs and changes made to "balance " Destiny happen because of what the devs think should be, not us. We haven't asked for much of what you guys have done to bombard this game. It's become more of a grind, more tedious, more stressful, more aggravating, and less fun. Simply put; start making some changes that are going to POSITIVELY impact Destiny. That is what has been lacking the most. That, and stop making promises and statements that you either cannot hold up, or that are just completely not plausible and you end up doing the exact opposite.
-
3 RepliesCozmo, the problem is that for all the feedback we give you, almost none of it actually makes into the game. If the Devs really want us to feel like we are listened to, then start implementing the big things people have been asking for from the community wishlist.

7 RepliesEdited by The_Hunter24567: 7/12/2016 6:58:43 AMFeedback to make the game better -Buff primaries -nerf sniper body shot damage and aim assit -make dregs promise and fabian strategy good options for pvp and pve -bring back Queens wrath and srl -elemental primaries -fix the burn bug -Buff the last Word for pve -Bring back the old activities likes raids, strikes, etc -Buff lord of wolves perk or change it to the original perk because it's useless -Make the suningers super useful(add more range or burn to the grenades while in super) -get rid of sbmm -give max agility to hunters -give max regen to warlocks -unnerf the gunslinger class -buff the flux grenade -make terminate grenades into a viable option -Add a rank sistem for pvp -new weekly activity -custom games -dedicated servers

Can we see this report you are speaking of? I mean it's sourced from us and I think everyone would be interested in seeing what we collectively have come up with.

1 ReplySpeaking of feedback... What's going on with the dailies? I didn't get marks today either. It's the third time this week.
-
2 RepliesWe appreciate you taking the time to post. From my perspective, I feel that you should answer more of the communities FAQ instead of just posting semi-relevant information once a week. Maybe include posts about why some of our ideas would break the game, or even if there are some things you are currently looking into. .

13 RepliesBungie Weekly Update 12/04/2014: "In the months to come, your quest to become more powerful will have more avenues that lead to satisfaction. The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete. Since the reveal, we’ve read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected." YOU ARE STRAIGHT OUT LIARS!!!! THERE ARE MORE THAN 100 POSTS FROM YOUR CUSTOMERS TO MAKE YEAR ONE GEAR RELEVANT AGAIN. YOU ARE IGNORING US. SHAME ON YOU!!!

2 RepliesSo you wanna listen to feedback eh?? OK lets see how this works DEEJ and COZMO because IM "calling you out, guardians"... Now, There have been about 50 posts over the last year with EASILY 400-500 likes each about US wanting weapon burns back on primaries...but nope. There have also been about the same amount of post and likes about us having our OLD RAID LOOT made relevant so we have a good reason to do our old raids again...its all "OBSOLETE"... These are the 2 main topics that have ALWAYS received the MOST attention and agreement among us players but have fallen on deaf ears or been brushed under the rug FOR ALMOST 1 1/2 YEARS NOW. Saying you will bring it to the attention of the devs is just NOT enough...the devs themselves NEED to see the 100 posts over the year about this and should be taken seriously as you say, because like i said, those are the 2 BIGGEST wants of the community and have been for a LONG time. I'd really like to see where this goes because hey, you said you wanna take our feedback seriously right? We'll see... You have been called out guardian, Myatt Dyamon.

1 ReplyEdited by Unit215: 7/12/2016 5:21:37 PMIt's too late for a public outing like this. • The Y2 PvP matchmaking and balancing of the game has ruined the experience for the vast majority of who play(ed)(s) the game. • The PvP oriented balancing has ruined the PvE aspect of the game for the vast majority of who play(ed)(s) the game. • Every update to the game brought forth changes nobody asked for. You've shown us with actions that you didn't account our feedback. Now it's time to show us you do account our feedback, with actions. TL;DR We need ACTIONS; Not words.

so you have millions of players... yet listen to a few hundred that cry for nerfs on the forum. that doesnt make sense to me, sorry. what about the "millions" that havent complained?
-
@cozmo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0DlyqaoAd0 How many times has the community you love so much been lied to directly with the excuse of gross incompetence only to have some BS diatribe like this posted after the rabble rousers start making noise? "I know I messed up baby, but if you stay with me I promise I'll do better baby. You're so important to me." Textbook abusive relationship.

1 ReplyCozmo, I respectfully disagree that after the fact updates are NOT the best way to communicate with the community. A FAQ or something released with notes explaining the decision might help. Being in senior management and being responsible for communication across teams of hundreds of people, a few suggestions/questions: Have you considered generating community feedback through surveys or a web-portal service? Have you considered publishing a list of items under discussion (with a clear note that the list does NOT constitute a commitment)? Alternatively a simple dashboard of fixes being discussed or something (again with NO commitments) so that the community could actually feel like they are more part of the process? Is Bungie (and this is important) willing to acknowledge some of the feedback like why year 1 strikes haven't been added or why elemental primaries are gone - no one buys the versatility excuse anymore). Remember feedback is a 2 WAY process and if Bungie wants to start making improvements in communication it's important to be actively listening so it doesn't seem like requests go into a void and are ignored.

I'm glad we got the teleporting Ogres fixed. Now, what's the latest on fixing teleporting Guardians in Crucible? I need to know when SBMM will finally be put to sleep so I can enjoy Destiny again.

Edited by Ghost_Hawk_One: 7/12/2016 5:57:35 PMIt really says alot when all of these people posted great ideas that have been asked for, for over a year. And here they are again. But where are you at COZMO? Busy brushing it all under the rug, as usual.

8 RepliesI hope the guardians who frequent these forums truly appreciate the job that Cozmo has done since he joined Bungie. Over the course of the last year, he has ingrained himself in this community and shown himself to be willing to not only comment, but really engage in posts. From his handling of community creations to his constantly playing with everyday guardians including letting people sign up on the forums to join them as well as the upcoming random chance to be teamed with or against, he has gone a long way towards building back that relationship that existed between Bungie and the community back in the Halo days. I'm not going to sit and say everything is sunshine and lollipops at the moment, but from where we were to where we are is night and day and this post is one more example that there are still good people at Bungie who get it and who care what our thoughts and opinions are. Thank-you for posting this Coz.

1 ReplyGood post Cozmo and very well thought out. The inmates cannot run the asylum because almost everyone has a different view on how the game should be. If someone starts one thread there are 1032 different opinions on how something should be and no one can agree. I get so tired of hearing that you aren't listening to the community when the community really has no idea what it wants. I think the thing in year 2 that stands out to me is that I need more PVE content. For over a year I rarely if ever entered the Crucible because I really didn't want to. In the past 6+ months its really all I have to do other than strikes. I know adding content at this point is over other than ROI but food for thought on Destiny 2 would be a monthly reworked strike. Something that didn't have to be created from scratch but maybe with different mobs and a different boss or mechanic to the fight. Just my two cents worth. Thanks for the communication and keep protecting the light. Nomad out.

Thank you for this insight into the process Cozmo. Do you feel that, thanks to the expanded audience on Bungie's side, older (yet still valid) topics should be resurfaced so as to be more visible to this larger group of developers?
