I've never done a movie review in my life, so this is going to be a bad review because of that.
Spoilers Obviously.
The plot follows a woman (named Michelle) on a drive. She fought with her boyfriend and he keeps calling her while she drives. Eventually, she gets to a gas station. A car pulls up behind her. After she fills up, she gets back on the road. She gets to a rather forested area and has a car accident. She is saved by a man named Howard. Howard takes her back to his bunker. She wakes up, chained to the wall, with an IV in wrist. She tries to escape. Howard eventually comes and brings her food. After a while, Howard gives her the key for the chain that attaches her to the wall. She gets out of the chain and now wants to escape. She doesn't know how to, but eventually she formulates a plan. She starts a fire with a piece of cloth, and puts it into the air vent. Howard comes down to get her out of the room. She attacks him, but fails. Howard uses a drug to put her back to sleep. She wakes up and Howard is there. He tells her that the world has pretty much ended. You hear banging in the background. It's Emmet. Eventually, Howard and Michelle leave the room and meet Emmet. They have supper. During the supper, Emmet annoys Howard with terrible jokes. Michelle uses this opportunity to make a plan. She touches Emmet's hand, and Howard is pushed over the edge. Michelle is able to grab Howard's keys to the outside world. She then hobbles up the stairs to the door. She unlocks the first door. When she gets passed this door, she closes it, and Howard cannot do anything about it. Someone comes up to the door. This person's face is messed up, due to the attacks that I will describe later in this review. This person ends up dying right in front of Michelle. She then believes Howard of the world ending. After this, they all get along for a while. A montage of good things happening occurs. After a short while, the air filter breaks down. The only person able to fit in the vents is Michelle. She goes into the vents. She gets to the filter, and restarts it. After she restarts it, she notices a ladder and another exit out of the bunker. She climbs the ladder and notices scratching on the window. She pushes aside a metal latch, noticing the word help. Along with the scratches, she sees blood. This is the blood of Howard's so-called daughter. Michelle goes back to the main room. From here, she discusses with Emmet about the help scrawling and the blood, along with the earrings Michelle found. They go into Howard's room and find a picture of his so-called daughter. This picture isn't his daughter. Emmet identified it as someone who was missing for two years. They start to plan a way out without Howard knowing, as they are deeply afraid of him. They get the required materials to make a hazmat suit and gas mask. Howard eventually finds out and pulls out a bucket of acid. This acid corrodes anything biological almost instantly. Howard then questions them about the supplies he found and what they were doing with them. Emmet takes the blame, and Howard shoots him in the head. He then throws the body in the barrel. At this point, Michelle is disturbed by Howard. She makes another plan to escape. She finishes the suit and Howard finds out. He is angered by this. He tries to take it away, but Michelle fights back. She goes to Howard's room to get a spray that freezes stuff. Howard arrives and Michelle then knocks the barrel of acid over. Howard trips right into it, and is burned. The acid then lights a light fixture on fire, thus burning the bunker. Michelle once more goes into the vents. She gets to the room with the air filter. She puts the suit on and she climbs the ladder. She then uses the spray on the lock to the exit. Michelle breaks this lock. She gets out of the bunker. Michelle arrives on the surface. She hears birds chirping, and geese flying. She knows this is now a safe environment to breath in. She takes off the mask. In the distance, she sees something big flying. Whatever is flying notices her. This ship drops off an alien. The alien proceeds to hunt her down for a while. She narrowly manages to hide from it. After a while, she runs towards a house. This house has no one inside. A giant alien ship suddenly appears. She runs to the truck and takes shelter inside. The ship picks the truck up. She notices a bottle of alcohol, a lighter, and a map. She fashions a Molotov quickly. She then throws it at the alien ship. The truck is dropped. She then drives away in a car. After a while, she tunes the radio to a station. This station is on a military frequency, requesting help from people with combat experience and people with medical experience to go to Houston. She goes to Houston. This is the ending.
Criticisms
I'd say none. All of the actors were perfectly chosen. Set was amazing.
Was it good? Yes. Very much so. I'd recommend it to you.
Score- 9.5/10. It didn't exactly match the story of the first one. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

1 ReplyEdited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 5/28/2016 2:15:38 PMI thought it was ok. I've always been a fan of John Goodman and he doesn't disappoint in this either. I just thought it was a weird way to do a spin off of Cloverfield. Normally I don't mind slower paced movies, but to me it felt like it took too long to get to actually showing the reason that I was interested in the film.

1 ReplyI thought it was a great movie. It just had no business having cloverfield in the title. I wanted a sequel, not some cop out by JJ to get more people to go see it.

6 RepliesHere's my criticism: the ending, where
There are aliens
really made the movie dumber, in my opinion.
