Much like the issue with blink/shotgun, I think that there needs to be a slight penalty for evading. Maybe an increase in the amount of time to draw your weapon? This way shadestep could actually be used as an evade and not an offensive move
Edit: evade via merriamwebsters
:to stay away from (someone or something)
: to avoid (someone or something)
: to avoid dealing with or facing (something)
: to avoid doing (something required)
Edit 2: this thread is kinda poppin. Some agree, some disagree. I'm all about discussion. Someone brought up just being able to shadestep once. I'd be cool with that, also buffing blink was brought up. Good points!!

9 RepliesSo it would put the user at a disadvantage and you in an advantage?? You don't see how that's -blam!-ed? You can still kill them during the shade step animation unlike Y1 blink. If they buffed primaries you wouldn't need to nerf SS.
-
Bump. Nerf shade step. That's all they do. I've seen them shade step wen not necessary.

I can't kill a SS hunter. Guess what, no iframes this isn't darksouls, and there is already a penalty, you get two steps before CD. So *pulls out ghost* guardian... Show me on this ghost shell where the mean hunter touched you...

19 RepliesWell, it is broken since it has Iframes and drops every tracking nade in the game and u can spam it the entire match.. Skilled players who've perfected the timing will go the whole match without getting any damage on them, that's stupid.. They should do to shadestep what they did to BLINK, longer cool down between the first and the second and even longer cool down between the second and the third to avoid spamming, add a couple of frames coming out of shadestep and decrease weapon handling after shadestep, and for heaven's sake, remove the ability to drop tracking nades...

5 RepliesI'm not a fan of the hunter. not like I was in year one. But this class barely gets armor. Its a class thats supposed to be about speed. and avoidance. There is nothing wrong with shadestep as it is. I honestly. dont see how shadestep is being used as an "Offensive" move. does it damage enemies in an aoe when used? Does it leave behind some void magic?

1 Replyeveryone used blink shotgun, due to weapons readiness and switch mid blink. Nerf no-one uses blink if they nerf shadestep, will anyone use it?
-
6 RepliesMy issue with shadestep is the amount you can use and how often. Blink is single use and charge rate. Why isn't shade step the same? Twilight garrison really doesn't help much to dodge. Its more like a side step. Other abilities could be called the same, yet those can dodge tracking and dots.

1 ReplyI see a lot of posts about people upset about shade step. Personally I do not see any issues with it and I don't see too many people using shade step maybe 1 or 2 people in a match and sometimes I don't see it at all. I'm not sure if the ppl who are complaining are trials players, I don't play trials much and mainly play control. I've also started playing my warlock more in crucible lately and have seen posts about people wanting an evade for warlocks. I would rather warlocks have exotic boots that would allow blink on any subclass. I'm not a fan of the warlock jump in pvp but have been getting used to it and playing a little more defensively compared to how I play on my hunter.

2 RepliesJust let the grenades still do their work, like skips and firebolts. That way it will be balanced when the painstaking process of the great rebalance that is Viking funeral on sunsinger with touch of flame happens. I may not be able to see you, that doesn't mean my grenades didn't lock on you though.

1 ReplyEdited by alcatraz669: 5/16/2016 6:15:58 PMCore foundation of any fps...we shoot at each other..we may strafe, hide behind cover, bunny hop,run and slide to saftey..the point is that you can still be seen, you are still in my line of sight.. We get into a gun fight..I start shooting. You panic blink/shade step and lag teleport yourself to saftey. There is a big difference between tactical and broken abilities I put on my twilight garrison thinking I'll even the teleporting field...twilight garrison is a joke

2 RepliesGood idea. A slower handeling speed directly after a shadestep would make people use it defensively
-
1 ReplyThe nerf to weapon ready time broke blink IMO. It makes you too vulnerable for too long.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Kone19ps: 5/17/2016 10:17:31 PMBlink has invincibility frames. Shadestep does not. I kill hunter mid shadestep all the time it's far from needing a change

16 RepliesAny ability that allows you to take yourself out of a gunfight is broken

8 RepliesEdited by Mars3099: 5/17/2016 4:01:43 AMShadestep is not even close to being OP not even with a shotgun I am afraid you just suck at shooting, dodging, or just jumping away :/ We already nerfed blink into the ground so deep to the point that it is barely able to get you above the surface I dont want it to happen again with shadestep
-
As a hunter, i don't think Shadestep should be able to be used for offensive maneuvers
-
No, this game has been nerfed enough. Just stop.
-
6 RepliesYou should not be able to shade step is succession..once then a cool down would be more balanced

1 ReplyEdited by RagingPheonix00: 5/17/2016 2:12:41 AMevade : to move out of the trajectory of an enemy bullet.

1 ReplyWhat they need to do is give all sub classes an evade. It's really dumb that only Hunters and Warlocks (blink) have evades. Many PvE enemies have evades. Captains have short range teleport, Vandals do that slide, Cabal have lateral thrust, and Knights do that spin move.

1 ReplyI think it is fine as it is. I'm not good at pvp and it is not that big of a problem. It's not like dark souls were you are invincible it just make you harder to hit with I find fits the hunter well. Plus if the nerf it, they will most likely effect pve as well. I didn't even find blink to be over powered, just shotguns, and think that the nerf to blink was silly especially in both pve. But in the end if it doesn't affect pve I really don't care.

Agreed. Buff shadestep

1 ReplyIt works as intended. Besides people are adapting to it.

I disagree and I don't main Hunter
