So BUNGIE created an update for the sole reason to extract more money from DESTINY gamers?

That is absolutely pathetic and it might very well be the most pathetic thing a gaming company has ever done. How can anyone defend this? When it's all said and done, there will be gamers that have pumped more money into this game than the system that they play the game on. This is a disgrace.

  • No, they updated it because they wanted to make changes that would fix the game. And to ruin your day even more, I'm buying Destiny again, this time on PS4, and I'm going to buy all the Sterling Treasure my PSStore account balance allows.

      • Bungie made a game to make money. That's the point. Now welcome to the adult world. People work for money.

I don't understand. We get 4 free boxes a week potentially, one is given, the other three need various amounts of playing involved. These free boxes hold the same items as the paid boxes. We have identical chances of getting these items regardless of where the boxes come from. Without spending a penny and with some luck, I could get every piece of armour and the ships in maybe two months. If I don't want to wait that long to potentially get the armour I can spend money to get it. What I don't understand is how this is as bad as other mircotransactions? Have you ever played Warframe? I put 200 hours into that game and the whole time I was piggybacking on a team of people who had put way more time in and a lot of money. I never spent a penny and got some pretty decent gear. However I didn't get a single prime weapon or frame, I worked singlehandedly to crate, manage and build my own clan and dojo from craft and didn't manage to even get one of the weapons from the dojo labs, let alone all the rooms required to build it all. I was helped hugely, yet I barely kept up and had to deal with the basics and in that time I'd become a monster but only in part. If I had the money I could have had the room to store more frames, weapons, everything. Bit I could only hold 3 frames and only 12 weapons. Going back to Destiny, every single armour piece in the game is free, every single gun in the game is free, we have 164 slots IN VAULT to store the armour, and 164 slots for weapons. The grind to get these weapons is nothing compared to Warframe, at least there's no mass time gating on waiting for my exotic to be built out of 3 separate parts that I had to g oto three separate end game activities in order ti collect as well ad grind the same. Mission hundreds of times over to get the resources to build the weapon. Each part took at least 12 hours to build. The Warframe's were worse; you basically had to wait a week to build them and that's if you had all the super rare resources that only came from specific end game activities. I did all of this. I could have caved and spent money but no. I put a lot of time into that game and in reality I didn't have a whole lot to show for it. Destiny players have more than stories to tell; we have the weapons, the armour and the completed activities that show we bested the content. In Warframe there was only one thing that showed you were the best and it required weeks of prep and grind to, unless you payed money. And it wasn't a couple of pounds either. It was 30 pounds for a warframe. A Prime warframe that was better than anything non paying people could get without hundreds of hours of grinding. So don't talk to me about Destiny being a cash grab. You don't understand.

        • If no one bought things they would stop but people are paying for it. Don't contribute and then you have no reason to cry. Let the noobs spend mommy and daddies money. Once this actually becomes P2W then we can worry. It's not even close to P2W.

        • Year two as a whole has been little more than a money grab, why make actual worthwhile content when they can make some emotes and microtransaction centered events to make more money off of useless shit than they could with an actual dlc.

What's more pathetic is a studio of 500 people can only put out at 15 level light increase and an updated poe in 7 months...

          • To the naysayers. I believe there is a qualitative difference from selling a product than getting people to throw money at virtual slot machines. Actually now that I think about it, the old arcades were basically solely there to extract money from players. Old arcade games were much harder than home consoles so you had to keep pumping quarters in. Discuss...

            • I feel like the sole reason would be that if we were forced to pay. Which we didn't. So they didn't make it for that reason. So shut up.

            • I enjoy this game and if I get 20 hours of fun for buying a little bit of silver then that's my business, I earn my money and spend it how I please...... You don't have to buy anything.

Don't businesses usually create things for the sole purpose of earning money? It's a business... They aren't a charity. I got up and went to work this morning for the sole purpose of providing for my family. I don't go to work for free... Do you?
