To those buying 20 to 40 dollars of sterling shit. You are actually killing this game and the franchise.
$20 used to get a raid, a bunch of guns, new exotics and a few story missions.
Bungie now sees how much you pay for trivial crap like a full set of armor and says to themselves. If they are willing to pay that much for a chance at reskinned armor set, we can get at least $60 for a ttk sized expansion and $30 to $35 for a dark below sized dlc.
Even if 3/4 of the remaining population doesn't buy these boxes, it will happen.
Buying armor is here to stay, now it's just a point of what they will sell next.

Jokerman. I didn't know they stacked shit that high! You trying to squeeze in an inch on me somewhere?

Thanks for reminding me!! I'm on my way to buy twenty more!!

4 RepliesYou also have to look at it from the other side though dude! These people are paying tons of money to get free stuff right? Maybe, because they are getting all this money, Bungie will lower prices in expansions because they don't need to charge such a high price to actually get income. I get why people want to spend the money for cool emotes and stuff, I personally don't, but I'm cool with others doing it. As long as what you said doesn't come true, it might but we will see, then I'm perfectly content with people wasting their money and because of people using their money that way others, who like to grind this stuff, can get DLC's for cheaper, if Bungie chooses to do it that way.

I think they are all hoping this has a future, like me

4 RepliesSo if I give 30 dollars to a homeless man, it'll kill him?
Don't get it
There isn't gonna be another big expansion lol.

Get over it.

I think it's stupid how much people will spend for meaningless cosmetics (RNG cosmetics at that), and with the sterling treasures being sold, it's certainly a slippery slope. That said, as soon as we see actual powerful weapons and gear behind microtransactions, Bungie better prepare their anus.
-
It's whatever people are willing to pay for and what makes them happy. I get what some of you try to do with these so-called activists posts. Like the world is out to get you. But you waste your time. Enything NEW that a business attempts to do is a gamble. Bungie, hypothetically could very well go broke in 6 months. So as a business it's in their best interest to maximize return on their investment. Try starting a business and running it with this activist mentality and see how far it gets you. Companies that aren't profitable can never be innovative.

What? This 20 second video explains everything. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HdY3--zZ_jg

I happened to be standing near Eververse in the reef on update day and physically watched someone spawn in, run straight to Eververse and buy 12-15 sterling treasures at the drop of a hat. All I could think was "does your mother know you stole her credit card?"
-
None of what your saying has any validity. All we can do is wait to see what Bungie does.

With each update, I spend roughly $30-50 dollars on it.. Why, I don't even know. It usually turns into a let down after about 3 hours of play and I regret doing it. But at the same time, I feel like these things are charity events. Bungie I guess needs the support. They are a company like none I have seen before in 25 years of gaming. If bungie continues to do these events where you can spend money on them. I hope its all new stuff, not reskinned anything and the weapons, armor ect actually benefit the player.. I know, people will hate that.. Me to, but if this is going to continue to go on. Give us something worth the money spent. Make it unique, make it powerful. Lets get armor that changes the way you're super acts and weapons you can only buy with silver... I know, you're blood just boiled reading that. But I hope it comes, if this is what they plan on doing anyways.

1 ReplyI was going to rant about how this is slowly mutilating the gaming industry, but what's the point? There's a reason they're called the ignorant masses, their entire argument is "Its my money, I'll spend it how I want, get a job!" They're the reason mobile games, like Candy Crush, are bigger than ever. I have plenty of disposal income, ID just rather spend $20 on an actual dlc with story, characters, armor, weapons, and new things to see and kill. These people are the reason games release for $100+ with zero story, because "that would be too expensive and no one would play it anyway!" "Oh, but games are more expensive to make now!" Meanwhile, they spend millions in advertising and graphics to make that tree look pretty, even though you completly ignored it on your way to punch another guy in the face. Nobody cares about gaming anymore. Nobody cares about story, characters, interesting worlds to explore, etc. They just want to shoot pretty lights and play dress up so they can brag about how cool they are. I guess, being 25, I'm just too old for gaming now. TL/DR: Reading is good for your brain, peasant

45 RepliesIt's so frustrating that people justify their support of this by saying things like, "don't you have a job?" and "sucks to be broke" and "get over it, that's business". All completely missing the point. As consumers we have power over how things are priced and what's considered acceptable practice. But people like that who just shell out ask their cash and give into their want to have it now are poison to the market. The future of gaming is bleak as long as people like that exist. So short sighted...disgusting.

Not necessarily, for example Black Ops 3 only had weapons added when people weren't buying supply drops. If no one brought Sterling treasures, rather than continue or give up, Bungie would have to add more appealing stuff e.g. Weapons (like how people would buy emotes and that was it, not sustainable for Bungie/ No random element)
-
I am super happy about it. Will keep buying them as I see fit. So yeah. Stop posting, all your posts are you crying about this or that. Its getting really old.
-
No money drops here. The honeypot is in the vender rolls, not cosmetic armor. I'm too utilitarian for cash grabs. Will purchase the next expansion though. I agree with you 100% though. @bungie will always search out the money just like every other company. You want better mid expansion releases show the live team they gotta step up the coding hustle.

What tickles me is that its supposedly funding content .. But the next bit of content is a paid DLC ... All this money from this eververse is going straight in Luke smiths account.. Then he does a transfer to DEEJ's account .. He gets 8% .. Cosmo gets 0.04 % Sorry got carried away towards the end!!

1 ReplyWhy are all your posts so good
Fuel beams can't melt steel jet
You'll probably never see another Dark Below sized DLC in this game. I have a feeling it will be TTK size once a year between full title releases and a dreadful amount of downtime between that.
-
You know I've read a lot of salt about this and come on guys... you think Bungie should just update their game for free? Maybe if you vote for Bernie Sanders he will make Bungie give out free destiny updates. So I've been playing this update and been having more fun in Destiny than I've had in awhile. I'd rate the fun level 8.... when Raid first came out like a 9, and Iron Banner as a 10. Most of the last 2 months has been a 5-7. I have not yet purchased silver, but I intend to buy $10-$20 for my account and my sons account. I haven't put any money into this game since TTK and am fine with throwing a little at Bungie as my contribution to the content they created. I don't totally care about the Taken armor or the glowing red, blue, yellow etc croma. The cosmetic stuff isn't that important to me... but I do think it will be fun to look like a Taken and get the twitch emote so that I can mess with my teammates while doing raid and POE.

Edited by Moxxis Playtoy: 4/14/2016 6:58:01 PMI don't have any issue with the armor being sold as micro transaction, there is no exclusive roll to the perks the gear have to those who use money to purchase say set. Many also want to play the game and own the gear, but simply don't have days or even weeks to put in the time and effort for a box. If it does come down to them charging me 60$ for an expansion I wouldn't buy it period (especially if were talking Destiny sized DLCs). If they start selling exclusive weapons and armor through micro transaction I can't earn without money then we have an issue. For now they haven't take it to far and when they do many and I say many well revolt. A rather major issues right now are pre-orders, sometimes the item is pulled out of the game to be sold as a "bonus" and that's a "real" issue.

I was unsure about it before the update, but now seeing what it is, I'm ok with it. People are buying skins, that's it. The stats carry over from the infused gear. So if enough people buy the packages that they will release more updates like this more frequently I'm cool with it. I won't pay, but get the armor sets I want eventually playing in game. The only way I would have a problem with it is if the armor came with native stats and those same armors couldn't be earned in a reasonable amount of play time in game.

Edited by BanditNation: 4/14/2016 6:16:03 PMWhy should I care about what people choose to do with their money? I have no say in the matter, and neither do you. If they choose to spend their money on something you see as stupid, then so be it. Besides, Bungie said they're using the profits from Silver to make updates like this. If Silver were never introduced, the Update could either not have been made, or would have been a paid DLC.
