The toning down of the seeking probably is the reason. Alright, see if they would've kept the tracking and nerfed the travel speed then it would've been cool. Or if they would've nerfed the tracking and kept the travel speed. But now, to put it in simpler words, its not easy to use. You have to at least be in mid to close range to hit your enemy. However, jumping or blinking can easy dodge the hammer. "Can't touch this"
Now, I'm not asking for a buff or anything, I'm just simply stating my thoughts on why people use striker over Sunbreaker. But, I use Simmering Flames and Incinerary(fuuuu-bad spelling) grenades with the Armamentarium(at least I spelled that right.)

I think the only nerf that "needed" was to lower just a bit the armor, just for a headshot kill , all the other stuff was great, it was FUN to use the titan in crucible , but bungie had to kill it. But still, for me the best class for crucible is warlock and for PvE i use hunter. But i have to say it,you didn't had to kill the titan, just lower a bit his armor when it uses hammer of sol. to all sunbreakers, i hope you guys get your buffed titan back .
-
It's nostalgic of year 1 for me. I like the range of the melee and shoulder charging. Plus the armamentarium tears with the double grenades
-
It's balanced now. You can still get 5+ kills but you aren't invincible anymore.
-
4 RepliesBLADE DANCER IS WORSE SHUT THE HELL UP
-
2 RepliesI use hammers still. But the delay on health regen and the lack of any armor has really hurt. The health regen is one thing but to be full health during hammer of sol and get shoulder charged once and die is kind of ridiculous.
-
1 ReplyIt was to OP. It got nerfed, all the titans who defended the super now suck at it. But I still get as many kills as I use to with it.
-
It has the hit detection of a blind guy playing golf.... Grenades and horseshoe doesn't help either. Blast radius? I have a better chance of goin into a Apple Store and being the only customer.
-
6 RepliesI quit in protest to nerfing a subclass. Nothing else. If bungie wants to nerf something I put it away. See how they like wasting their time on things people don't use.
-
4 RepliesBecause it's not OP as -blam!- anymore. It's still a very good super, can still change games if utilised properly, seen plenty 2-3000 point swings in matches because of a good hammer user. All the noobs stopped using it and went back to panic striker. The folk who know how to use the class properly are still beasting with it.
-
I really think the blast radius is what killed it. I didnt use it before the nerf, but now it's my main subclass. I like it a lot the way it is, but the blast radius could be bumped up just a tad.
-
3 RepliesThe issue is they decreased blast radius but kept the grenades and horseshoes effect unchanged. So this leads to random weird moments where you would directly hit someone with it and they live because it detonates early.
-
Tracking was a joke to begin with...it did not track like a rocket does (like so many assumed). Like someone else said, the big issue is lowering the blast radius without changing the proximity detonation.
-
Hammers are still good in my opinion playing in ib today and wiped out 5 players in a control zone 1 by 1 only difference I can see is others can kill you now where before you was invincible
-
I maxed out my Sunbreaker, so switched to Striker to max it out, then will go to Defender after that, just something I do, can't explain it. Peace Out!
-
6 Replies'Grenades and Horseshoes' effect on the hammers + severely reduced blast radius = most inconsistent Super in the game, next to Bladedancer.
-
8 Replies
But now, to put it in simpler words, its not easy to use.
Answered it right there. To most it was a crutch and now they're back to panic fists.

using bubble is fun ...

2 RepliesEdited by Cayde Seven: 1/2/2016 10:25:01 AMI stopped because of Striker Hype and after I got used to striker (pre-Sun-rise, pre-TTK) I liked it anyway... The hammers were fun, it was uber powerful, I haven't once called Nerf and didn't on Sunbro's... I died mid-super before the Nerf less than 5 times, and I played a decent amount. I don't recall ever being taken down by gunfire of any type, each instance was a super-counter. Each super was nearly a guaranteed Hammer and Tongs medal, I didn't even really have to wait near a choke point for a group to build at all, just see a little red on the radar and run around half the map from there. I used it again today after playing mostly striker (a little defender) since the patch, and on maps with hallways and choke points, it's still very, very good, hard to counter, and hard to escape. On maps like Widows Court, where two or three jumps over walls (most free in any direction) can put you half a football field away, plus up or down 15-20 feet of vertical plane, plus behind walls that don't have ceilings, so people escaping can bound from one safe spot to the next, yes it's not easy any more. It shouldn't be. Try shooting 4 people with Achlyophage Symbiote on that map with an 8 second timer... Can't do that easily either. The main counter people used on every map was jumping. I play all 3 classes, I have a pretty good idea when they're gonna land. Throwing a hammer at someone 15 feet in the air mid-jump sounds hard- you have to coordinate aim + travel time to a spot in the air you think they'll be. They always stop on the ground, at least for a split second. Aiming for that spot on the ground is much easier than calculating the arc-vector of a flying object toward an imaginary point in mid-air on the fly. Didn't get killed in super- had less kills each super than before nerf, but did not feel it was "hit too hard" at all. Cauterize works w grenades (2 of 3 are great), melee (I use the last one which heals you then instantly regens itself as well on a kill... Switched to fleet fire from flame seeker and it procs on any "fire" as well. The neutral game of Sun breaker isn't bad at all which was one of the main defenses of the very strong super. The thing was, there was no incentive to choose the neutral game perks when you could build an unstoppable 3-5 kill super... After playing both classes this IB- it is harder for me to get 4 golden gun kills than 4 hammer kills. On certain maps where people can just jump away- or if you time it on the heavy and catch a group waiting- still a monster of a super and nothing to feel slighted about.
-
I started using it post nerf. Still a stupidly strong class.
-
In other words titans can't aim?
-
4 RepliesCos bubbles are fun
-
3 RepliesI constantly hit people with the hammer but they don't take any damage. It's kind of gay.
-
2 RepliesIt's because striker was buffed, I think. And armamentarium. And sunbreaker was brought in line. The combination of those.
-
Everyone knows the best uses of HoS is the solarcharge. It's the closest to actual teleportation we get in the game, and its still a OHK. And they didn't nerf how many you get to use during HoS activation.
-
The seeking on hammers was kinda ass anyway. But yeah... Poor Sunbreaker feels all meh now, especially in pve.
I still use him tho...and my defender
-
You can still get 3-4 kills if you know when and where to use it. That's how supers are supposed to be. Not that you can run around the map for a decent amount of time and get people twice after their respawn. I main bladedancer, but I'm speaking clear of bias. Hammers now is like arc blade with less mobility but more range. Though with one you are meleeing and one you're throwing projectiles, the two are now very similar.
