I am now quitting Destiny, for the following reasons:
1) The TK expansion has made all of my gear obsolete.
Above all, my favourite hard-earned exotic gear and raid weapons are now obsolete. Where the hell is my Year 2 Icebreaker? Where’s my replacement for my VoC primary weapon and HV rockets? To replace any of my now obsolete gear is a considerable grind, let alone my entire obsolete inventory. I can only equip two exotics -- everything else is obsolete. Losing Icebreaker takes so much of the joy out of this game.
2) The TK expansion relied excessively upon milking existing maps, as a substitute for new content in the new missions.
I paid £40 for this expansion. I won't make the same mistake again. When I pre-ordered the ultimate edition of the game on the first day it could be done, it came with the expansion pass which included the previous expansions, and they suffered from the same problem.
3) Bungie has betrayed their most loyal fans by favouring PlayStation over Xbox.
4) The grind has been too repetitive, especially on Xbox (see 3).
I quit Destiny once before, after my raid team had killed Atheon a few times, because it became a grind, just repeating the same missions every week. I bought TK a few days ago after weeks of indecision, eventually deciding to give Bungie another chance despite the price tag.
Perhaps it was slightly less repetitive for PlayStation players with their greater variety of missions and strikes (see 3), but I am on Xbox. Indeed, I have been a hardcore Bungie fan ever since the first Halo game, but the studio has now turned its back on its most loyal fans, like one of those special deals that banks have for new customers that p*** everyone off because they’re not available to existing customers.
My review of The Taken King is not all bad. Finally, we now have Destiny content with a more solid and coherent story. Finally, we now have characters with a bit more… character! The TK script is entertaining, ingeniously balancing comedy alongside the more serious dialog.
Having said that, TK expansion bosses, tanks and baddies look strikingly similar to the old ones. Indeed, the whole concept of the Taken seems to be to re-skin all the old enemies instead of creating new ones!

Really couldn't care that you're quitting, but Bungie didn't ever, nor will THEY favour one console over the other. Sony paid for those exclusives for their customers, Microsoft did not. Be mad @ Microsoft bruh
-
I quit too! (while i am at work). But I'll start up again tonight. It's a vicious cycle.

Don't you people realize nobody cares? Why are posts like this still happening? Go play CoD and stay off the forums. Geez.

1 ReplyWant some chips with that salt? No one cares if you quit just do it instead of making an attention seeking post about it.
-
1 ReplyCool! I quit also. I have been seeing a lot of posts of people quitting and saying how boring this game is getting. It's sad :( Destiny has so much potential. You play Halo now?
-
1 ReplyI don't get why everyone is so mad about the lack of year one guns being useable in year two. Do you know how broken guns like VoC, fate bringer, and gally were? They were must have weapons and they were so good that nothing bungie added to the game would be preferred over those guns. They only way to fix this issue was to get rid of those weapons. I feel like the game is much more balanced now without those guns

1 Replyyour first mmo styled game I would guess... Get over the fact you cannot use easy mode wepaons in y2.. does not matter if you liked or loved them either. They were not ever going to make a complete new set of maps for this game for pve for ttk...again get over it. bungie does not have to give a damn you are xbox and butthurt about exclusives ever. again get over it. This game as always going to be a grind it was never going to be quick and easy... yet again.... get over it. They do not now or ever care if you were a hardcore Halo/bungie fan and never did or ever will... yet once more... get over it... They do not owe you anything and never did. You are nothing to them and never was. You being loyal means jack shit to them and never did mean anything to them only in your own head did it matter. pretty much ever game just uses reskins... get over it and yourself. Just quit they are not going to care about you leaving. they are not going to give you the exclusives early just to keep you at all.

Almost all of the reasons you listed are why I came back and am having fun again. I had run out of fun stuff to do but this expansion is giving me another month, at least of Destiny. Just remember, nothing is fun forever and other games exist to keep people happy between expansions and stuff.

More like Why I still lurk in the forums and My "unbiased" opinion about a game I don't "play" anymore

5 RepliesI just don't get this, you've done one raid (Also possibly crota on normal but I can't be bothered to check), you have no golden chests whatsoever which tells me you have hardly explored anything in patrol and your grimoire suggests you haven't even done that much at all in the game which is totally fine but not when you're complaining about lack of content, you have just got bored quickly, it happens sometimes. If Destiny doesn't do it for you then just move on man.

Them resins doe
-
The bosses and enemies isn't the only re-skin thing in the game...weapons and armor are also re-skin
-
Tl;dr
-
I will never understand why icebreaker isn't a year 2 exotic, i mean bungie u blam**ing fu*ks why?
-
U just played yesterday lmao
-
Honestly, I loved the breaker as much as the next guy but I've found better weapons and better exotics worth the slot in tk. I was pissed when I heard I wouldn't be able to use my Fatebringer, Blackhammer, and Gally combo in year two but I've found weapons I like better now and the switch has made me change playstyles and my new playstyle has actually made me a better player. My advice is to not get so attached to certain weapons and if you can't do that then this might not be the game for you. But I've also heard that they will continue to bring over Y1 weapons so that's something to look for.
