Now seriously about 2.0; I'm so sick of hearing "we only asked for 2 guns to be changed!" Let me explain: 2.0 was going to happen no matter what. This was not the result of complaints or a knee jerk reaction, it was a calculated effort to change the game to better fit their vision of how the game should be played. In the explanation, they give clear and concise reasoning why each weapon was changed ( which most of you who are complaining are clearly guilty of.) So please, stop with the "nobody complained about Ice Breaker" talk.

They want us to log more hours in PvE

1 ReplyExactly. It didn't matter if we asked them or not. The statistics alone just yells "nerf". Are you gonna try to say that they are just gonna let something like gjallarhorn to slip? Because no one was complaining about it? And to be completely fair, I don't know why this is such a big surprise for some. I saw this nerf coming ever since I heard about gjallarhorn.

2 RepliesI agree with both sides. I didn't want the hand cannons hit to the point that pulse rifles would easily be the best. I would like a remotely balanced playing field. I agreed with nearly everything, and though I understand the reason for Ghorn being hit I do not like it, because in one point it's about people not getting in fireteams for not having it which sucks, but it's not a real issue, because when I didn't have it I always found a group to play with. That leads me to believe the real reason isn't the fireteam issue, but that they do not want it to be so easy melting PVE bosses, and that becomes evident when you they hit ice breaker timing, and black hammers effect to no longer be unlimited. All understandable, but I would rather better mechanics that would require us to do more that way it isn't about just firing a bullet sponges... However bungie has taken the easy route a lot with this game.

7 RepliesThey just don't want people burning through their limited content too quickly.

2 RepliesThe nerfs are here to make it easier on potential new players. They don't care about us, we've already invested in the game. But in order to keep the newest batch of players in the game and buying their future dlc, they need to make the game less intimidating in all aspects. Don't balance crucible just make it easier for new players to jump in without being discouraged by overpowered weapons. Want to make raids and other endgame activities easier to join? Remove the demand for activities that require a certain weapon by nerfing their usefulness into the ground. They do not care about the current players. If they did they would have "fixed" balancing problems earlier. They're only worried about the next cash grab.

5 RepliesEdited by theNaturalNumber: 7/21/2015 2:54:40 PMThe worst people are the ones claiming the G-horn nerf is due to LFG losers requiring it for an invite. That is more or less an urban legend. Bungie wants us to expand our horizons weapon wise. The horn has become like momma's titty. It's always there ready to lull you off to sleep with some milky wolfpack rounds. It's time to grow up and move on to solid food people. Edit: yes I did read the post but I must have forgot about that detail. It seems that was indeed one of the reasons for the nerf. I think my original post was more a reflection of my own experience with the game and with LFG. I've used the site extensively and never seen or experienced anyone demanding the horn for any type of activity. Obviously this is something that happens/has happened. These people are morons, and should be avoided at all costs. That being said, I still believe the primary reason for the nerf is my original analogy about mom's bewb. Regardless, I suspect the launcher is still going to be incredibly powerful and fun to use. Perhaps there will be something even more powerful and elusive come Taken King!

13 RepliesEdited by SubnoizeSpartan: 7/21/2015 12:47:08 AMThe REAL reason behind 2.0 is an artificial way to extend the games life. Bungievision cant come up with new weapons that are on par or better than the old ones and they cant create content that is challenging to good players with maxed arsenals. This kills two birds with one stone. It forces their shitty weaker new weapons and perks on us which in turn will make all future content take longer and seem harder. The retroactive perk changes and pve nerfs prove that. If it was about balance then the update would be for pvp only. Who is bitching about pve balance? The computer controlled AI?

Any GOOD MMO developer knows that you ALWAYS buff UP to balance weapon class and diversity. You NEVER nerf down because you take the power away from the players. And as Bungie themselves said, exotics are SUPPOSED to feel overpowered.
-
I agree for the most part. My only two concerns are hand cannons and fusions. I felt that the primary classes were mostly balanced, with only autos needing a buff. I felt that legendary hand cannons like jewel and red hand were (barely) comparable to the high damage pulse rifles. Now, with these nerfs, I don't think they will be hoerible, but may have been pushed below the level of being competitive. Ironically, the only hand cannon I think you will see after 2.0 is thorn, because it's sheer stats and performance may keep it relatively balanced through most of the nerfs. Fusions are already in a strange place. I love fusions, and use my plug 1 and peruns way more than shotguns, but they are inferior to shotguns in general. With the current changes to both shotguns and fusions I feel like they were both nerfed rather equally, meaning by proportion, shotguns will still be on top by the same margin. Not to mention the exotic fusions that are going to be hit HARD by the reduction in accuracy and projectile speed (vex, QBB). Pocket infinity, already near useless, could be made completely useless or get a slight buff depending on how it's impact factors in with the changes, so that one's up in the air. Overall I think the changes are great, but I think some are a bit heavy handed.

When is this released?
-
3 RepliesI think it's down to how fast the player base has been burning through the content. For whatever reason they can't make content tough enough to cope with the current weapons we have, so in order to extend playtime for Ttk they are reducing the weapons so it takes longer.
-
Edited by Jackal3801: 7/21/2015 3:35:37 AMDear bungie, Stop forcing us to play destiny the way you want. Stop making us use the guns that someone designed then got thier feelings hurt because no one uses them. Let us just play, and grind, and grind......and grind. Love, A non unique legend
-
2 RepliesIt happened to promote the new weapons in ttk so that we would use them over the old ones.
-
4 RepliesThey just want all older weapons to suck so people have to grind for all new weapons in ttk because there will be no vault space upgrade and to make the new weapons more attractive. More grinding equals more playtime racked up, making it seem like there's actually more content than there will be due to all the time spent grinding for new weapons. Kind of like what people are doing now grind for weapons, spend hundreds of motes to reroll, then find out they're useless come September and ttk comes out.

3 RepliesHow do you know it's not a knee jerk? Do you work or know somebody at bungie? And before you say "look at the graph charts". Bungie can make those look like however they want them to look like.

Ice Breaker We’ve all done it. Hunker down in the back of the map with your lunch box, picnic table, a sci-fi paperback, and Ice Breaker. Kill all the enemies, wait for more to show up, kill those ones too, put a few shots on the boss, make a sandwich, finish the strike, and then collect your reward-that-isn’t-Hawkmoon and move on. The recharging ammo of Ice Breaker has become a staple for the PvE game. We don’t want to completely destroy that, because a really great thing happens when all of a sudden you need Ice Breaker and you’re still waiting on that next round to show up. In that moment there is an interesting tension at play; you need to think about how you spend your next few seconds while it recharges. We are going to amplify that tension by increasing the recharge duration by a few seconds.
I find it funny and very contradictory that Jon W. starts off paragraph saying that we've all done the hunker down in the back of the map with IB, but then goes on to say that they want to amplify the tension by increasing the recharge time while we spend the next few seconds waiting on the next round to appear.. Guess what - we'll just hunker right back down with our lunch box, picnic table, a sci-fi paperback, and Ice Breaker and wait a 3 seconds longer. The only thing it's going to change is the amount of time that takes someone to complete a Nightfall or Weekly. The next thing we're looking is another Valus Ta'Aruc nerf because their meta data shows that Nightfalls are taking longer to complete... Or something similar to the Winter's Run ninja nerf..

1 ReplyI don't want to play Destiny the way Bungie wants me to.
-
7 RepliesPve nerf was done to neuter year 1 weapons so that they can make year 2 weapons more alluring and better. Of course these better weapons will be hidden behind the ttk paywall. So if you dont buy it you will have inferior weapons to people who payed for ttk.

1 ReplyTake the bungie d!ck out of your mouth for a second

I don't want to play the way they want me to play. Their god complex have to go. Let me push Atheon if I want to God damm it
-
Hey man I brought my Lego's and maybe we can play!
-
How funny would it be if they came out with a rocket launcher that has wolf rounds but it does more dmage than ghorn? OR they have a sniper rifle that regens ammo quicker than ice breaker? Win!
-
8 RepliesOk. You stay contented with the constant tinkering they have been doing since day one. Me? Not so much.
