Iron Banner is basically unplayable.
I've avoided getting into the "nerf this" "nerf that" debate...but Thorn has made the Iron Banner unplayable.
I just tried to play a handful of games and almost every single game 3/4 of the people were using Thorn.
Was looking forward to this IB, really wanted a Jolder's Hammer...but probably not going to even bother at this point.

*Edit 2: In response to a bunch of posts; I've tried changing up my load outs a bit, depending on the maps.
My main load out is on my Hunter atm. Red Death, Felwinter's Lie (HoW version), and Deviant Gravity-A.
The other three weapons I have been switching in and out are equipped on my Titan; Ill Will, Low Grade Humility and Ash Factory. All of the Legendary weapons, imo, have extremely good rolls and have been very helpful in leveling the playing field. This worked pretty well for me this morning when I got into a game of randoms (no full fire teams) or a game where half the team didn't leave before the game was half way over. The main reason I have been using the Deviant Gravity-A over the Ash Factory is to complete the Machine Lord bounty. I need to finish leveling the Ash Factory as I just got that a couple of days ago.

Iron Banner is boring as -blam!-. Every single game is slow paced with that 10 kill streak bounty and people looking to pad their KDs. Not to mention full of people that just get tunnel vision when the heavy ammo spawns and then they all get shot in the back.

1 ReplyI haven't played much but when I did usually 1 person on either team was a lagging ass cheater. I'm not complaining though. That's pvp. As far as the thorn or other weapons being used I don't use that crap but it also doesn't bother me that other people do. Here are the facts. 1. These weapons can be countered and bested. 2. If they nerf say the hand canons in general guess what? There will be another weapon that everyone uses that will equally piss all of you off. Red death in particular lol you will just be screaming these guys with red deaths never die because after every kill they have full health blah blah blah.

I got pissed last night too. It wasn't as bad during the day but last night I gave up.......I finally had enough and turned on all my void vortex stuff energy drain perks and put thorn on. Sooooooo many post modem medals.

1 Reply1) It's not "unplayable", stop being a drama queen. 2) There will always be that one gun that the masses are using; it used to be the Suros, now it's Thorn. That's never going to change. 3) You can still outplay 90% of the people using Thorn, as most of the people using it have no business using hand cannons in the first place. With that said, as someone who has had the Thorn since its pre-buff days, the gun needs a nerf, plain and simple. Its range with the Send It perk, along with its combined precision damage and poison, is ridiculous. The gun's range is too high at the moment, and anyone who disagrees is blinded by the fact that they use it themselves.

I've hardly seen any thorns this time around and barely died to a couple that I noticed. I have died to a lot of pulse rifles and midas this go around.

Oh look, someone else whining about Thorn users. It is not an unbeatable gun. It's not even the best gun in pvp. I prefer my Mida everyday over Thorn. Buck up and play the game.

I've had no problem with Mida/Vex and LDR/FW. I think I've only lost a couple matches so far. I've had more lag issues than anything

I'm usually not bothered about all the issues that everyone gripes about in pvp, I mean I'm rubbish so I get killed by everything all the time. But the lag at times last night was insane. At one point as I was running around like a headless chicken, one of the many issues in my game, I came a across a warlock just standing there. A full tlw clip and several shotgun rounds and he's still at full health. He then disappears and appears several times in random places. Madness I tells ya.

3 Replieslol......It's hilarious seeing people post bullcrap like this. Last Iron Banner, I ranked 3 toons to rank 5. Ran into a handful of Thorns. Majority weapons I was killed by was the Vex, Red Death, Hawkmoon and The Last Word. Just because your screen turns green doesn't mean you were killed by the Thorn. You could have had multiple people shooting at you and the one with the Thorn got an assist. I played IB last night for 3 hours. I can count on one hand how many times I saw someone using a Thorn. People assume they get hit by one shot and the screen turns green that the whole team is using it. Realistically........how many people really look at what others are using in a 6v6 situation? Very slim. which means you have no clue how many are on the other team. Learn how to counter the weapon and quit whining. It's a GAME.

I've been having a fair amount of success with pulse rifles. Thorn isn't really effective as long as you are strafing and using cover + grenades. I start off shooting with pulse. Maybe get a burst to the head and hip fire to body. Duck down or go behind a wall. Throw arc bolt / axion bolt / fire bolt / lightning or just approach from a different sight line. I agree it is too powerful compared to other weapons but you just have approach It differently until it gets nerfed. :) hope this helps

Thorn is a good gun but it's not mighty, I downed like 6 thorn users with bad juju/headshot/super and grenade. The trick is to jump out as soon as you get shot so u don't get burned. Not gonna lie they've headshot me a shit ton of times but if u look at my record on hunter it's pretty good Past 5 games

We need regional servers. I'm down to play with people on other continents but it's impossible with all the lag. People are teleporting all over the map. This IB is even worse than before.
