Iron Banner is basically unplayable.
I've avoided getting into the "nerf this" "nerf that" debate...but Thorn has made the Iron Banner unplayable.
I just tried to play a handful of games and almost every single game 3/4 of the people were using Thorn.
Was looking forward to this IB, really wanted a Jolder's Hammer...but probably not going to even bother at this point.

*Edit 2: In response to a bunch of posts; I've tried changing up my load outs a bit, depending on the maps.
My main load out is on my Hunter atm. Red Death, Felwinter's Lie (HoW version), and Deviant Gravity-A.
The other three weapons I have been switching in and out are equipped on my Titan; Ill Will, Low Grade Humility and Ash Factory. All of the Legendary weapons, imo, have extremely good rolls and have been very helpful in leveling the playing field. This worked pretty well for me this morning when I got into a game of randoms (no full fire teams) or a game where half the team didn't leave before the game was half way over. The main reason I have been using the Deviant Gravity-A over the Ash Factory is to complete the Machine Lord bounty. I need to finish leveling the Ash Factory as I just got that a couple of days ago.

MY GAWD YOU PEOPLE ARE EFFING insane crybabies. I played Iron Banner for an hour and a half last night, and most matches I saw Maybe 1 or 2 thorns. AND guess what crybaby pu$$boy? I had no issues whatsoever killing them. You guys are so insanely pathetic its beyond a joke when you crybabies post on here about thorn this thorn that. Effing baby get some skills

1 ReplyI'm just tired of blink shotguns, can we please get some open goddamn maps so that people can't just run around and blink shotgun you to death? Seriously I can't even have a -blam!-ing primaries battle with someone without a -blam!-ing Hunter blinking up and shotgunning me in the back. And what's with the I-frames before the actual teleport? So I can't hit them while they're teleporting or just before it happens? That's pretty -blam!-ing dumb.

I use First Rule or Pest Control, Pest Control more than 1st rule. Yes, ran into a ton of thorn crutches, but that don't mean you can't achieve at IB. And not every match do I run into a lot, some there's like 1 or 2 players with it. Look, it's the team that wins, not just you. Play how you want, trust me, others on your team that have or use thorn will help take out the thorn players. I know not everyone has that gun, don't mean you shouldn't play it - regardless if you have thorn or not. I've gotten up to 4 medallions before the 5th win. Never got to 5 during this IB event. Your team will win sooner or later.

I hate having to base my loadout around how many thorns there are, but sadly that is just Destiny at the moment

Just posted a forum on this exact issue. Check it out in the Crucible page if you can titled "This Bungie...THIS!!!!!" . Datto just released a PERFECT video describing what it's like and basically saying Bungie has to do something. I like Thorn, but it's too good. Tired of having to use the same ol weapons to stay competitive. IT's literally killing PVP right now on the competitive side.

Thorn isnt the problem. These shithead hackers are. I've played 3 games now that all ended in me losing all connection to xbox live and xbox live only (how do think i'm typing this) at the 18/19k score. These -blam!-en pieces of trash

Use a pulse or any gun with aggressive balistics, and just spray those Thorn users. They wont be able to get those quality shots on you. I've been running Hopscotch Pilgrim with aggressive balistics and just spraying those clowns in the head.

I'm still going to play it but I agree, the gun is overpowered and a crutch. When the majority of the player base is using one gun there's a reason...... its overpowered. It has more range than pulse rifles. And bungie inability to address the range of hand cannons is ridiculous. I know this is a game but let's check into reality here, snipers have massive range here in real life, then any type of rifle, rocket launcher, machine guns, then at the bottom are pistols and shotguns. Destiny has this correct except for handcannons, pistols are not very accurate from long range at all, and most won't reach a target from long range. Why have handcannons got this ridiculous range especially thorn?
