And Angry Joe agrees!
But that's apparently alright, because the Weekly Update used nice words and made you feel good.
How is anyone still defending this DLC?
EDIT: Because some people have difficulty understanding the problem, let me put it like this...
Do you think that those 9 cosmetic items are equal content to House of Wolves or Dark Below? If not, why are they the same cost?
I've asked multiple Destiny defenders this question, and they've either flaked out of the conversation, or ignored the question.
EDIT 2: Before you come onto this thread and spout off a dozen times about how "You don't need to buy it!", consider this...
When people buy over-priced DLC, it tells the gaming industry that it's OK to over-charge for scarce content, because people will buy it anyway.
And because those increased prices will eventually reach the people who "don't buy it", it's our responsibility to call out bad practices when we see them.
EDIT 3: For the people screaming that I'm obviously poor, user DragoonKai sums it up perfectly...
People don't get the reason why were upset: it's not like we can't spare $40 for TTK or $20 for the items. Hell, even a kid with a limited allowance can afford that. It's about the principle; about the fact that Bungie -blam!-ed up and instead of apologizing and making things right, they tried to sell us their -blam!- up by giving us pretty words in the shape of a half assed apology.
EDIT 4: What a toxic community; I'm legitimately disappointed in you people. For every person that provides an ounce of discussion value, 5 more come running out, howling and screaming that: 1.) "You're just poor" 2.) "Just don't buy it!" or (my personal favorite) 3.) Resort to personal insults to make up for a lack of coherent thought.
I'd like to say people like that deserve to be shafted by this decision, and be punished for their lack of understanding, but that lack of understanding directly effects everyone who refuses to support and defend being over-charged for no content.
EDIT 5: It appears that the people defending over-priced DLC have shifted the conversation to the concept that, "since *Insert game here* does it, it's okay for Destiny to do it too!" In response to this, I ask that you remember the adage that your parents told you; "If all your friends were jumping from a bridge, would you jump too?" Just because other people/groups/companies are doing something, it doesn't make it a good thing, nor does it justify it.
EDIT 6: It saddens me that this new Bungie community is so quick to zealously defend a bad deal, simply because it is "more Destiny". When a company starts making comments about how you are used to "paying a premium" for basic content and "throwing your money at the screen" for trivial items, you need to call them out before that becomes a precedent. But instead of being good consumers, many people here have instead chosen to blindly follow along, despite the consequences it will have.
EDIT 7: "You just want free stuff!" isn't an answer or rebuttal to this thread. I don't think the word "free" has appeared on it until this edit, so at what point did I ask for free content? All I'm asking for is a fair and reasonable pricing model for a small amount of content.

I don't see why everyone is getting but hurt over this at all just go off elsewhere and play something else I for one will be dealing with fallout 4 and halo 5 once I'm bored of them 2 then a good few months would have flown by and TTK will be a bit cheaper and I won't care :)

9 RepliesAngry joe is shit. I saw a video where he pays almost 100$ on a pay to win with even worse rng the destiny. And rhe game wasnt good. Hypocrite.
-
Really thought it was $40 for me
-
Have you watched or read the Game Informer trailer/article? It is very promising, but cautious optimism is reasonable

2 RepliesJoe is a bitch

12 RepliesSo here's a question that I want all of you self-appointed "Destiny Defenders" to answer. At what point would you feel that Bungie isn't giving you a good deal? Or, as many have already raged at me, is more Destiny automatically good?
-
4 RepliesEdited by Cyanide: 8/5/2015 5:16:49 PMSome knife skins in CSGO cost around $200-$500. Some cosmetics items in TF2 cost $10 by themselves So yeah I think the digital item price is fair
-
Im buying the collectors edition, same as the digital but with more stuff What's the fuss about?!?!
-
I agree! It's not the fact of paying for content, it has always been the way they have handled every ~blam~ up by trying to be nice...and charge you for it. I love this game and have done all along but i do think i might be finished with it unless bungie pull something out of the hat!
-
1 ReplyWhat do you want them to do. Give you everything for free. EVERYBODY is trying to take all your money. This is called life in 2015. People are getting very good at taking all your money in 2015. You can't really blame them it's called capitalism.
-
1 ReplyTtk will have a better storyline, more weapons, more raids (plural), new stuff we don't even know about like an artifact slot for our character that we don't even know what it will hold, new subclasses new crucible game modes, a higher xp lvl cap (30) and light lvl cap (50) new gun perks, new styles, custom weapon tier for further weapon customization, individualized weapon manufacturers to fit your personal style, and prob a lot more... If you don't get it you are really missing out, destiny is gonna change all shooter games forever.

2 RepliesWhy the -blam!- are you bitching? You don't complain when you waste $40 at the movie theater do you? And that is a one and done experience. DLC you keep forever. Hell I work at AMC and let me tell you what. A couple seeing a movie is immediately gonna spend $22.28-33.28 depending on if they see a movie in 2D, 3D, or IMAX/IMAX 3D. Then they're gonna spend another $6.27-21.62 depending on if you want just a small popcorn or a large and two large drinks. See where I'm going with this? Find a quarter, spend it at the carwash using the shop-vac to clean the beach out of your vagina. Get your head out of your ass and realize your money is going towards something you get to keep. This isn't like a bus ride, or a movie, or a restaurant where you get only one use. So seriously shut the -blam!- up.

3 RepliesRespect to OP. I'm buying the Digital CE for $80 'cause that's a deal for me since I have no DLCs, but $20 for emotes and shaders is just ridiculous. Nothing justifies that.
-
I'm preordering the $80 version :)
-
i have not even seen the cosmetic items @ $20 in the UK yet. wonder if they will charge us £20 for it. and where would one get this package or will it only come out when the TTK is out.
-
All I want to comment on is the bit about
limited allowance
. I get £10 a month. I can't afford it, and that's a limited allowance
-
Like Bungie said, it's all about value... if you don't think cosmetic items are worth $20, don't buy them. Also, if you think $40 is too much for TTK expansion, don't preorder. Maybe wait until it's out and people rate it. Can't go wrong with waiting it out.
-
Im part of the Angry Army. And there is an explanation about this. You should watch DattoDestiny on youtube and what his take on the price of Taken King. Just watch it and you'll understand.
-
It's destiny year 2, not a DLC, not a small expansion, but destiny year 2. I'm not going to list out all the things you get because I've tried to explain this a multitude of times, but it's almost an entire game for $40. I'm not here to argue, just laying down the facts. If you don't want to believe me and would rather continue to complain then go ahead, I can't stop you, just wait until it comes out and you'll see why the $40 price tag is justifiable.

Good post. IMHO, you must get past the notion of these forums being of any real value. I say this not because of the number overly zealous defenders of policies bad for the player base or that they are bad people, rather I say this because it's apparent Bungie is not listening. Sure, for a second there, the whole TTK DLC fiasco looked like it had set a fire under Bungie, but in then end they simply announced a new shell game. After having watched a number of other poorly launched games later rise like a phoenix, one has to imagine Bungie will be able to do the same with Destiny, if it is seriously routed this fall by the competition. Regarding the $$$ Bungie has charged us so far and still wants to charge for TTK, in relation to what has been delivered and what is being promised with TTK… I think Bungie and Activision understand the gaming landscape very well. They have anticipated the impact other games being released this fall will have on their cash flow AND IMHO they trying to get out ahead of the cash flow curve.

-blam!- angry Joey. That guy is a loser. He wS wrong about Destiny. Look at the success it is so far. They have 3.5 million ppl logging on daily playing g or 3 hours or more. Its the biggest thing in gaming now.
-
There are a lot of kids in this community who do not understand the first thing about finance or simply "bang for your buck". It's a pity that this new generation is driving the gaming industry into the ground oneday soon when my kids are asking me for 200$ to pay for a broken half ass game I will tell them of a time when games were 40$ bran new with tons of content until that day I guess I will sit here and watch these guys give companies excuses for highway robbery.
-
Great post OP

What is wrong with suggesting not to purchase it? Some people believe it's worth their money. Just as it is your decision to not purchase it it is everyone else's decision as well.
