Let's get this straight.
The Witcher 3 an open world rpg that had a 15m$ budget, YES a 15m$ budget!, and created one of the best rpg's ever with awesome characters and characterization, an open world that's bigger than SKYRIM (I KNOW RIGHT?), and a super long campaign that took me what seemed like FOREVER to complete with TONS of replay value and side quests which rack up to over 200+ hours of fresh new content AT LEAST, plus 16 FREE dlc's that will add up to roughly 30+ more hours of fresh content! WITH A 15M$ BUDGET.
Now Destiny, one of the most hyped games ever, promised to be the next big thing like CoD and Halo, with a whopping $500m budget the LARGEST budget in ANY game EVER, multiple massive open worlds to explore, a "huge, cinematic story", and a amazing multiplayer.
But let's be real, Destiny is far from being anything close to being the "next big thing", made absolutely NO fresh new content with that budget and instead put in a few strikes and story missions that we play over and over and over again,
literally the WORST story I have ever experienced in a game. ALL missions had the same exact level design! "go here and kill shit, deploy ghost, kill 3 waves of enemies, deploy ghost, end level" That's literally it. Except one level where you kill 3 waves with a sword! OH BOY A SWORD. Get real guys. Hardly ANY cutscenes and the only cutscene that made me think the story was picking up was when you first go meet the queen. NOTHING is ever explained. For example: where did all these aliens come from? Why do they worship the darkness? What exactly IS the darkness? How can the darkness have a heart? You know, LOGICAL questions that should be answered. Absolutely embarrassing voice acting, no memorable characters at all. You don't even learn anyone's name! There's the queen and her brother. Those are literally all they're called. The stranger, that's all she's called, etc.
open world maps are not memorable in any way shape or form. I can seriously remember where EVERYTHING is and know where my enemy is at ALL TIMES so there's no surprise factor along with caves which are just holes in rocks that a chest has a chance to spawn in. No other purpose
Shittiest loot system in any game ever. You get the same loot that you don't use over and over again, you almost never get anything worth your time and effort, etc.
good multiplayer but has balancing issues
Game relies on dlc's that is just the game recycled with a new title
Now let's compare the end result. The Witcher 3 is an instant classic with tons and tons of content with free dlc's with a 15m$ budget and according to IGN "defines next gen"
Destiny is the biggest fail in gaming history that has nothing new to offer for next gen, recycled content over and over and over again with boring...EVERYTHING
Who is the real winner here? I think you know...

Witcher III is awesome. Rented it last weekend; bought it Monday. Haven't played Destiny in a week. Winning!

1 Replyactivision spent $499M on making the game hyped and making it seem good. Bungie was given $1M to actually make the game, lol. Also IGN isn't a source to trust as they have never given a COD game under an 8/10, correct me if i am wrong.

9 RepliesSo for 60 bucks I get 230 hours max single player experience. I had over 1000 hours into Destiny before the first DLC and get to play with my friends and family. You are comparing 2 different genre of games. Anybody that thought that Destiny was gonna be the end all RPG game when it is a first person shooter is silly.

14 RepliesPolygon has a guy that played the witcher 3 in 25 hours. The slower gamers take 100 hours, so your figures are way off.
-
1 ReplyHmmm Which game gives you more vault space?
-
2 RepliesIf you did research into that budget, you would find out it is nothing even remotely that much. That is the amount paid by Activision for everything. That covers advertising, development, the other games, the DLC, The comet.

5 RepliesGwent > Destiny

1 ReplyYou can't really compare the two games. One is mainly single player, while the other has online co-op properties. Also, that $500 million budget isn't for the one game, but rather any sequels and expansions the game comes out with over the course of their contract. So if we take into account "the 10 year vision" Destiny has with $500 million, each year they could release a game the size of the base game with around a $50 million budget. This would be slightly more in line with games of its genre.

You get value for money with both. Destinys addictive nature and design makes up for the lack of content. As long as the end user gets on this treadmill and grinds for xx days then yes said user had had their money's worth.

Cool witcher story, still won't buy it.

7 RepliesI've put 6 hours into witcher. Thought it was awful myself. Combat system was atrocious.

Edited by PBGellie: 6/17/2015 8:26:32 PMHere's a crazy concept: You can enjoy more than one game. I know, I know... It might sound insane, but it's true!

1 ReplyPeople don't have to like what you play ya know
-
11 RepliesThe witcher is so -blam!-ing slow and boring, I have absolutely zero idea why people are saying "it's one of the best rpg's ever" it's been done literally one thousand times
-
1 Replyso 200hrs vs the 15 DAYS of playtime you have. So which game have you invested more time in?
-
Witcher 3 doesn't have an online shared world experience, no co op features, no raids, PvP, or any kind of multiplayer mode what so ever. It is a great game for sure but in its own way. It is the same with Destiny. Comparing the two makes no sense.

3 RepliesWitcher sux... most overhyped game ever... boring as hell

4 RepliesI really don't think you're giving Bungie a fair fight here. We should be comparing Destiny to Pong on the Atari, where Bungie would skew by the tip of their nose in a photo finish.
-
Well said. I don't think the developers of Witcher 3 tried to scam people as overtly as Bungie/Activision did either, despite the 1/60th of Destiny's budget. Answer me that people
-
Then go and play Witcher.... BTW, I played all Witcher parts, and this one is so slow.....
-
2 RepliesApples and oranges Besides, the Witcher 3 didn't have to worry about last gen limitations
-
2 RepliesMust not be good enough to keep you from the forums of a game you hate..
