I started playing this game about 3 weeks after the game was released... I have seen Crucible change many times since then.
Why are the only guns now used in PvP hand cannons? Specifically Thorn!!!!!! That gun is so over used its ridiculous, Thorn, Thorn, Thorn, Thorn, Thorn, Thorn, Thorn, Thorn, Thorn, Thorn that's all you see. I can't remember the last time I was killed by an auto rifle.
The Thorns damage over time should be reduced again, I believe it was nerfed a while back, but it's still too strong. How can shooting someone twice with a gun, running away and letting damage over time kill them be good for the game!?
Also worth mentioning is the one shot one kill snipers.
If you don't know about this, snipers with the upgrade that allows you to do extra damage with the last bullet can one shot kill anywhere on the body, it's just cheap and needs fixing. Just don't allow that upgrade to take an effect in PvP.
Things like this need fixing before ToO starts or it will be horrible to play!
Rant over. Please do something Bungie.

Edited by The Dude: 5/14/2015 10:48:31 PMI never knew an opponent could shoot me and it would display that i was killed by misadventure. Repeatedly. Aside from the obvious blatent VPN manipulation from itnl cheaters, it appears that folks think they have carte blanc to do whatever the hell they want in this game. Sure would be nice to have referees. Iron Banner definitely needs them. (This is exclusive to my 360 pvp matches. I cant speak as to what is happenong on other consoles but 360 is hacked to shite.)

15 Replies1. Bungie "ruined it" because the maps are too similar and pulse rifles were badly designed so no one used them. 2. Bungie "ruined it" because ----like you----people clamored for the weapons that annoyed them to get NERFED, rather than devising strategies to deal with the challenge. 3. Patch 1.1.1 BROKE auto rifles in an effort to get people to use pulse rifles. ARs got hit with the DOUBLE-WHAMMY of both a range nerf and a damage nerf that effectively reduced they damage output by 10-20%. Then pulse rifles got a 9% damage buff. 4. So ARs got rendedred NON-COMPETITIVE virtually overnight....and a game in the weapon coverage scheme was created. Pulse rifles were now competitive, but are really only mid-range weapons. They are not good close range weapons like ARs. 5. So----initially----shotgun rushers went wild. They no longer had to respect AR weapon fire....they could just shrug it off. Pulse rifles couldn't kill them quickly enough either. 6. To deal with the explosion in shotgun use after this (and the fusion rifle nerf in 1.1.1) Bungie put a stranglehold on the availability of special weapon ammo. 7. So people----being the adaptable creatures that we are----just went to the NEXT most powerful class of close-to-mid-range weapons. The exotic handcannons. So you are seeing so much of Thorn because a. It is the most versatile of the exotic hand-cannons b. It is the one that is a bounty weapon...so there is a lot less luck involved in obtaining it. It turned away about a half dozen opportunities to do that bounty (Ive got 2 Thorn's already) in the last MONTH alone. 8. Sorry but I have no sympathy for anyone complaining about being one-shootted by a sniper. You don't get HIT by a sniper unless you've lost situational awareness and got caught doing something stupid (standing around in the open). YOu get what you get when you get hit. Take the punishment like a man. 9. What Bungie needs to do is stop listening to the demands to "nerf"....and rollback the catastrophic AR damage nerf.

Edited by Kone19ps: 5/14/2015 5:37:09 PMAs an avid thorn user I can say it needs a nerf but not to the dot or impact. It should have that power and the dot deaths are just frustrating and annoying but not unfair. I usually three shot people anyways. The problem is the aim assist. It's incredibly high for thorn. I barely have to try for headshots. If anything this needs the nerf. Thorns other problems will all fall in line then. Reduced accuracy at range and less headshots for unskilled users

4 RepliesIf you feel Thorn is that amazing, get one. I have one, I don't use it and have no issues killing people who do. Easier to cry than try though, huh?

1 ReplyWhy has bungie added PVP is my question. Get rid of it and move the game forward.
-
They let cheaters get away with cheating without consequence; they let players use the exploit to be immune to bullets and damage that's a main reason why pvp sucks, no honor and no pride just little kids acting like douches. Bungie needs better pvp rules

I smile and say really when I'm killed by an AR it would be the same reaction if I had been gored by a unicorn mid match as those kills are nearly just as frequent

3 RepliesCan't remember when the last time you were killed by an auto rifle? 1v1 me scrub and I'll destroy you with SUROS lol. Jk. But seriously yeah. SUROS is just about the only auto rifle option. I did a bit of field research regarding autos last week. I used a few different kinds. The only ones that hold up are SUROS and Hard Light. Nearly all legendary autos are useless though I did go against someone that went on a murder spree with a painted SUROS. So maybe it all depends on the player.

Get a hawkmoon, problem solved.
-
2 RepliesAtleast 30% of Destiny's problems can be solved by buffing auto rifles.
-
2 RepliesI don't get why the sniper thing is a problem. A headshot with a sniper is a one hit kill, why is the body any different? I'm not really a PvP player so I don't get it.

3 RepliesWhy is anyone still playing this mess of a game ? I honestly don't get it life is to short to play or try to play a bungie game they will never get any of my money again.

14 RepliesI'm pretty sure my Devil You Know and Timur's Lash are not over powered. I occasionally use Word of Crota, and it's not overpowered either. Thorn is a different story. You don't see auto rifles because humans follow the crowd. Auto rifles are still okay to use; they just take more elbow grease like pulse rifles used to.

Why has pvp ruined destiny?
-
1 ReplyIt's insane how many people using thorn now..
-
1 ReplyNo, they shouldnt do anything about HCs. Thorn DoT is just fine. The only thing they need to do at HCs is the effectivness at range, that should be nerfed to a degree so it doesnt interfere with scoutrifle ranges! We need the pre-patch autorifle dmg base, the stabillity and range nerf was some what acceptable. Take a look at the range in which HCs are effective in, cause that is way to much!
-
How about we drop the poison dmg down but increase the base damage of the gun. Now it will be just like red death, hawk moon, TLW, etc.., and will kill you with two head shots without a chance to retaliate. You do realize any other gun that can two shot you in the head will kill you quicker then the dot will. At least with thorn you get a chance to kill the other person AFTER you know your dead, any other one you get two shot with no chance to retaliate.
-
Lol I use suros on my Titan in pvp, catches them by surprise, couple of easy kills
-
17 RepliesPVP is fine.. Most people die because they just keep engaging after getting tagged with MOD and you WILL die if you do. thorn is not killing you its you that's doing that.

Edited by TheLordCypher: 5/13/2015 6:25:48 PMMy problem with PVP is that they have made it so the person or player with the worst connection Will slow everybody down to a crawl and ruin the connection for the entire game. I pay for extremely fast Internet and so wish that she had dedicated servers based off of Internet connection so people with faster Internet connection can play together with little lag and people with bargain basement internet can have their laggy games.

3 RepliesI am sure they will. They aren't sitting idly by doing nothing even if it seems so. Can you even imagine the head ache of weapon balancing? I am sure it's a nightmare. Tweak one little thing and snowballs into so much else. Perhaps they rushed the previous changes because people were whining excessively instead of working on adapting/coping. Try various different load outs and play styles. Fight fire with fire if necessary. I am sure we haven't seen the end of weapon balancing. Hopefully they are taking their time to limit the amount of unwanted effects. That said; I can't help but feel the auto nerf was somewhat unnecessary. Seems like the pulse buff would have brought the balance sought by encouraging people to switch from autos but still leaving them as an option. The special ammo change seemed dumb in reading but I'm actually pleased with it. That brought good balance without changing weapons. Maybe if they do similar things instead of modding weapons themselves in the future? Exotics shouldn't be nerfed either. They can be tough to obtain. They don't need to negate our hardwork by trashin it altogether! My 2 glimmer.
