Please explain why thorn is fair
I've played pvp extensively and for anyone who is just gonna say get better just STFU. This is a serious question as to why thorn is fair. I've seen so many post of don't nerf thorn it's fine. And people who are anti gun changes. But if you can give me a valid reason why thorn is fair I'll shut up about it.

1 ReplyI personally think it is a powerful gun slightly above the rest of the field, but that's fine because that's what makes it sought after. Same with red death, TLW, hawkmoon, etc etc. Even though that's a challenge for the people who don't have it, it is still possible to beat it with good strategy and skill. Everytime I beat one I feel like I've just downed Goliath. That said, it's real advantage is once someone gets hit by it, their screen turns green and that split second to register what just happened can make a difference in winning/losing the fire fight. I remember the first few times I got hit with it, I panicked and was literally looking to jump into the water to cool off the effect LOL.

1 ReplyI have a fwc pulse rifle that work great against thorn or any exotic hand cannon. it shoots so fast and you can out shots on target alot faster. Just got to watch out for the guys sniping with hand canons lol

First, i would like to say that i love hand cannons, and i've always had thorn.. But i rarely use it, because i dont like it. So i'll give it a try to explain why: Thorn is not OP imo, it is surely annoying (VERY annoying) but not OP. It has very low impact compared to the other two exotic hand cannons, but it is not weak because of the DoT. Its accuracy is also the worst among the three exotics. It has good stability, rate of fire and range but poor reloading speed. As for the 2 headshots = kill, maybe sometimes it can be 'unfair' because you get to die even after killing the thorn user, but thats just how the gun works.. If it wasnt for that, the gun would have no use at all. Most people use it to be able to at least kill someone at crucible, but, to excel with the weapon, you must be a good hand cannon user. In other words, its a well rounded gun that works well on noob hands and works even better at pro hands. It is indeed in the top 5 best crucible guns, but i dont think it is performing better than TLW, hawkmoon, red death, bad Juju and vex mythoclast for example. Imo those are the top tier pvp weapons, and they are well balanced among them. Each one favors a specific playstyle, thats all. :)

Edited by LeNouveauNoir: 5/13/2015 1:18:56 PMThorn may not need a nerf, but some weapons need a buff because it does outclass everything. If it was the old thorn or even half of what it is now you wouldn't see so much of it. Everything as of now is counterable (not a word) but the thorn.

1 ReplyMy solution to thorn. Mark of the devourer does minimalistic damage. It's was intended to stop recovery of shield. That's what it should do.

Just got mine last night after having the bounty almost since launch thought I would never complete pvp bounty but I grinded it out and I can tell u that if I can do it anyone with patience can complete it, fair because anyone has the opportunity to do the bounty and if u think u cant do it then dont simple as that its a beast gun with a beast of bounty and its that much more rewarding to have actually earned it rather than having it drop randomly my new favorite gun so add me to the list of annoying pvp thorn users lol

Used a thorn last night first time since patch. Maintained a 2.3 kd with ease. Its ridiculous. No ones saying you cant kill a thorn user idiots.. But the chances of winning a 1v1 are slim at any range. Thorn is op theres no debate here. Problem is they nerf it something else will take its place.

Never look for fairness in a war zone. You do what you have to do to survive and win. Thorn is strong but it has a couple of easily exploitable weaknesses. Learn how to exploit them.

3 RepliesIt's fair because it takes 3 shots to kill, while others take 2. It has lingering damage to combat this. You can counter thorn with red death and any scout rifle at distance.

2 RepliesThorn is fair just like any other exotic. Just use another exotic against it. I dine on thorns with my red death. Yes the DOT is annoying but shiieett Thats why Its an exotic . and no I'm not a thorn user in fact I never use thorn for PvP. And I don't think it needs any nerfing.
