Please explain why thorn is fair
I've played pvp extensively and for anyone who is just gonna say get better just STFU. This is a serious question as to why thorn is fair. I've seen so many post of don't nerf thorn it's fine. And people who are anti gun changes. But if you can give me a valid reason why thorn is fair I'll shut up about it.

60 RepliesThorn is fair simply because unless obtained through "cheating"(using friends to get easy kills) you have to be skilled enough to obtain it. So we currently have two primary void weapons: AE & WoC. AE is a assault rifle and they got nerfed to hell and so not as popular as WoC. So a player grinds their way through the PVP part of the bounty using WoC... And do you know what happens? I will tell you. That player gets really good at using a hand cannon. Now I'm not talking about a fake HC like TLW or any rapid fire HC. I'm talking about learning how to be patient while shooting & knowing each shot must count. Thorn is fair because it is the BEST HC in the game. Thorn is fair because as well as I do in PVP with it I can do as well or better with the Vex or Red Death.

Thorn is no more weak nor powerful than most other Hand Cannons. I've got two Thorns. I'm pretty damg good with HC's if I do say so myself, but I've seen Thorn users get out-gunned by people using Hawkmoon, TLW, Red Hand IX, even Fatebringer and the Venation III I have seen out gun someone with Thorn. But I've also seen Thorn users who've won against improbable odds. Know what the deciding factor was, OP? Skill. Pure. Simple. Skill. Having the weapon is one thing. Being good with it is another thing entirely.

If you play combined arms in crucible you will never get killed by thorn, the Vex or shotguns.

I'll give it a shot: Shotguns are fair - I hate getting shot gunned; however, 'it is what it is'! The Vex Mythoclast is fair - I haven't been stomped by this weapon. My friend wants to string these users by the balls. Arc Blade Hunters are fair - I hate these cocksuckers; but, I'd never request a nerf of this super (or any other). I'll adjust accordingly. Striker Titans with their 'Fist of Havoc' are fair - These asshats can't play for shit, but they sure know how to pound the ground before they get smeared off the map. Again, I'll adjust accordingly. And on and on it goes....

Thorn's poison NEVER kills me it always stops at the last tick. Thorn does three hit me but that's no different than other hamdcannons

Here's the thing. Destiny PvP is not pure skill. Part of the appeal of Destiny is getting better gear and customization. Some weapons are better. Some gear is better. In Destiny PvP, skill is the biggest factor, but gear makes a difference too. No sense getting mad at Thorn. Just keep in mind that PvP here is not a pure skill contest and have fun.

Because I'm just as bad at PVP using Thorn and when I'm not using Thorn? If it were that advantageous it should make a difference.

Now if you would've said, "I have played PvP in a huge variety of genres", I would have taken this post a little more serious because you would've known that DoTs are not something from another dimension and have never been so much of an issue.

How this is fair, well it simply isn't Ways to fix: tweak TLW and Thorn so it atleast 3 headshots Pulse rifles 7 headshots: reason so it has 3 shot burst which adds to 2 and 1/3 bursts to kill. HC keep same Autorifles tweak for 4-7 headshots or maybe 5-7 due to fire rate Scout 4-5 Keep MGs the same due to they are heavy you should be able to kill if you have first shot not other way around like it is now. Edit: vex make atleast a 4-5 shot

fir not fair, i don't care, i just don't think it's poison should be able to take you all the way to 0 (at max should leave you with 1 left, and if has burn time after that, somehow add an extra effect based on remaining time that prolong the duration till you start recovering.

I say it's fair only because I have it, have used it, but perform far better with other scout, pulse AND auto rifles. I play people with thorn all the time of course. I always go positive. Im not that good and I can defeat it so I declare it's validity.

I feel you, I have to hide if I get shot with a thorn once. Even if I start shooting them forst, if they hit me twice I'm dead. I average 2.5kd, so it's safe to say I don't suck. I have a thorn, i do play with it sometimes...but I feel cheap. I can't rightfully be the guy that I hate going against. Crucible is about balance, thorn throws it off. The bounty isn't that hard if you're good at crucible...the easy solution to going against thorn is not to face it or "get better", but is to run away...which sucks...but if that's all I have to do...I'll deal with it

Thorn may be powerful, but it's a pain to get it, especially if you're a hunter.( no void abilities) Also with the new scarcity of special ammo it's easiest for void warlocks.
