I'm curious. How do you think Thorn/TLW aren't OP?
I'm very curious. No need for an raging argument here, but I find that TLW and Thorn are extremely OP. And most people on the forum believe they aren't. I was just wondering why you think they aren't? And for the people that will say making them not 2 shot will make them useless exotics are wrong. They will still have their great perks and are/would be amazing guns without the 2 shot.
My reasons for why I think they are. (The combination of these things make them too good).
Thorn:
2 shot kill
DoT does good amount of damage
Best auto assist of all HC's
Amazing range
Good mag size
Good RoF
TLW:
2 shot kill
Range stat is low, but it's actually really not
Impact for its RoF is too high
Broken ADS glitch
Good auto assist
Note: I think all 2 shot primaries are broken. They ruin the TTK in Destiny, and a low TTK is what killed COD for me. It's more of a first to shoot rather than a show of actual gunplay.
It's weird that some of you think because you can kill people that have them (we all can) that they're not op.
Your reasons for why they are fine?
Edit: in my opinion, overused can be a derivative of overpowered. Bungie said months ago that balance doesn't necessarily mean all weapons are exactly equal, but rather a close to equal usage of weapons. And we can all agree that it's not "balanced" right now.

NLB is a 1 shot primary with fantastic range and a ROF glitch that makes it far worse than hand cannons. It needs nerfed so bad.

Lol I've played against OP weapons and the 2 hand cannons aren't OP. OP weapons you don't have a chance to fight back and 1 shot kills you anywhere. Agaist thorn as long as you don't suck you can use cover to kill them. And if you're stuck in the open you can at least go 1 for 1 and kill them as long as you don't blow ass at aiming and panic because your screen turns slightly red.

Well, isn't the 2 shots kill thing include it having to be a headshot? If it does then i don't see the problem. I rarely get killed by thorn i don't know if they can't aim or what but with a hawkmoon i can pretty much overpower the thorn every time

Thorn and TLW are OP. There's no getting around it. I tried using both for a few games a while ago and went something like 23-4. They're so easy to use it's boring.

22 RepliesFirstly I want to correct you. Range in destiny does not mean how far bullets go. Range dictates damage drop off. So TLW having a low range stat doesn't mean it can't hit people cross map. It just means it's damage falls off quickly. Now the crucible maps are not big enough for damage drop off to matter. Anyway I don't think either are OP because they have several downsides. both have high actual/visual recoil per shot. They also have no zoom in for distance targets and less sticky aim/aim assist then any other primary weapon types at distances. Lastly the both have extremely small mags. Oh and if fast TTK is an issue for you then I guess NLB and universal remote are also OP?

2 RepliesDestiny pvp is not balanced at all. It cannot be, be it for the weapons factor, the class factor, the superpowers and of course that awful netcode. TLW and Thorn are highly efficient weapons in pvp so since players want to win no matter what -as it should be- they use them. The whole "overpowerered" lingo in Destiny is a bit out of place to me because there is no way balance can ever be achieved. If you want balance, ask for a matchmaking list where material and inventory is locked and where everyone has to play with the exact same stuff. Shotty-sniper anyone ?

I have last word and thorn, thorn is only 2 shot kill if they're both precision same with TLW which I never get 2 headshot with, there only good if they're in the right hands if you want real OP weapons talk about Felwinters Lie.

Over used means everyone likes it. Over powered is a clear line of superiority. Its functioning as intended, if a user was going 40-0 then yes over power. But because 10/12 player use it on map. Well you can't help that. Its human nature to follow the crowd. If everyone was using aetheons epilogue you'd have a list for it. Nerf thorn threads are hilarious. All I see is I got killed and don't wanna learn the tactic to defend.

You have to spec stability and it's range actually does come in to play more often than people think. Thorn is the gun I think is on the chopping block. It's overall stats are just too good. I think either cutting it's range a bit, it's rof, stability, giving it field scout instead of snapshot, or making posion only proc on precision damage would balance it I think the crucible overall is pretty close to being balanced. If autos got their 2.5% back and they pulled final round off snipers, and disabled tracking/proximity detonation for rockets, the crucible would be near perfect for me.

I personally have never said these two weapons aren't overpowered. Of course they are and they should remain this way because that's the way they were intended to be. Stop crying over this people. Get over it. Either have just pure fun and play the game using an auto rifle against thorn or TLW, or if you're so damn stupid competitive...than for God's sake use the damn thorn and TLW to match your rivals power! It's really that easy so come on! Get over it! You people crying over a video game this much is ridiculous. I understand that we all get mad at a certain point but at the same time we are grown ups so let's act like who we are. If your a kid then I totally understand, otherwise...shame on you people. And if you do use Thorn and TLW and still get your ass kicked in a dumb fictional non realistic video game...than so be it. Applaud the other guy who is better than you. But just because others are better than you doesn't mean everything they use has to be "nerfed".
