Coming off of the halo series, bungies reputation commanded respect. I remember people were pre ordering this game solely because it was the first thing from bungie for awhile.
How the tables have turned...... Bungies reputation is completely trashed due to this story-less unbalanced sham of a game
It's a shame really

1 ReplyI blame most of the bs in destiny on activision

24 RepliesDid you play combat evolved? It was bungie first console shooter on the original xbox. It didn't have a great story or online multiplayer. Yet it was awesome. It reinvented the console fps genre. Destiny is doing the same thing. No other game out right now is doing what Destiny is. It has flaws no doubt about it. Activision was/is really strict with release dates and bungie is well known for pushing em back for perfection sake. Doesn't mix. Right now though Destiny as is, is more bang for your buck than any other game available with more mixture of activities. Other games outshine Destiny in there own ways (i.e. skyrim had better story and dialogue, cod arguably has better multiplayer, gta has a better open world exp, etc) but none of em come close to doing everything Destiny does the imo. Most disappointed players are the ones that got all amped over the hype and trailers. They were expecting an end all be all.

Destiny will stand or fall on House of Wolves. I get the feeling that a large percentage of the player base currently in game is there solely because they purchased the Expansion Pass. I'll play HOW, but if it is just more of the same with no improvements then I won't invest any more money. I'll be done after HOW.

Yep they burnt throught a decade of goodwill in just a few months. By Dec 2014 their rep was in tatters and many of the faithful gave up believing. To me the egregious DLC policies became the straw that broke them in my mind. Polices designed to put Bungie far far ahead of customers, policy designed to bully rather than bribe. It was at that point I knew it would be a cold day in Hell before I purchased anything from bungie again.

Edited by HermanOfYork: 3/27/2015 5:53:07 PMThe number of people on here (OP included) who do not understand the difference between a publisher and a developer is staggering. At least learn how the video game industry, at its most basic level, operates before you make this sort of ignorant blanket generalization about a company which has absolutely no control over what you're angry with.

No one cares

Like a wise man said on several posts here: no one cares
-
I think there might be a little bit of drama in there.
-
Yeah Bungies rep is pretty much trashed at present, -blam!- knows how they even start to rebuild it.
-
I not buying any games that bungie makes.

25 RepliesEdited by The Dude: 3/9/2015 5:13:57 PMThey should have stayed on pc platform... console limitations have limited their creativity. (I bet Destiny would be AMAZING if on pc...)

Game is cool through lvl 18 with friends. Goes steadily downhill from there as you are confronted by the horrible loot/upgrade system and everlasting repetition of the same things you did to get to 18. A raid beckons but has no matchmaking and contains overly harsh mechanics and time gobbling bugs

14 RepliesExactly. This game was purely a cash grab on Bungies name at this point. It was very over hyped by Bungie who everyone trusted to make a great game. We got sold a game that was nothing that it claimed to be. Oh well.
-
21 RepliesThat's not true at all. This has done unexpectedly well with sales way higher than anticipated...
-
both are now toxic I wouldn't be at all surprised if Activision didnt sell off Bungie in order to save it's own reputation & recoup some of that 500 million spent on this turd
-
2 Replies+1 It's almost as if they were so focused on the 10 year development plan that they forgot to focus on the first release and that there should be a hook in the in-game story not just in gameplay. Sure people have an idea of what's going on-ish via the Grimoire but off-game lore summaries on cards isn't exactly an effective story teller.
-
13 RepliesIf only they would show the amount of games returned, traded in, uninstalled, snapped in half. I wonder what the numbers are on that compared to how many sold lol
-
Sadly true
-
1 ReplyYeah bungies reputation is literally toasted. Friends of friends of mine have returned this garbage, half the people I know will no longer purchase a bungie product. Even the people I see come into eb games won't touch it, we can't accept it because we have so many used copies. Bungie you failed at everything and need to be removed from your once self made throne and tossed back down to the people.
-
Bungie really shit the bed with Destiny
-
The reputation is toast now. But all companies are moving to the same trend.

Story content in Comet likely was supposed to be in Destiny but was cut to make series last longer and because they knew it was going to sell pretty well. Next game needs a great story and RNG loot tables commensurate with what you're completing in game--when I get better drops in Vanguard roc strikes versus nightfalls on a regular basis, there's a problem with RNG. I'm ok with not pulling exotics every time, but sometimes....

I bought this game without ever really knowing too much about it but i seen Bungie was the developer so it had to be legendary game. Its been a 50/50. I love it and hate it.

3 RepliesI never owned an xbox so i missed out on the halo series. No bodies fault but my own. However i heard nothing but praise for all the work bungie had done. They had a strong fan base and consistently put out a product their customers enjoyed. When i found out bungie was releasing a new game on multiple platforms, i payed for a limited edition day one of preorder. I played the first hour it was live in my timezone, and didnt really take too many breaks til mid december. It was fun and addictive, but eventually i saw it for what it is, a hamster wheel. There is no achievement, no conclusion, no impact on the world itself. You have to constantly grind to get the most miniscule of benefits. I stopped buying CoD games because i got tired of neverending multiplayer. I occasionally pop on destiny when my clan asks me to, but never on my own initiative. The only impression i have of bungie now is the same i have for any of the CoD developers. Its gonna take some amazing work and changes to get me to buy another bungie product.

Edited by Inception: 3/9/2015 4:55:45 PMTheir reputation is just like the faction The Seventh Saraph...non existent
