The story is not "bad", they just failed to present it to us in any real way. If you read the grimoir cards you will see that there is some awesome lore and history in the game, but they put none of that into the actual game. It's a shame really.

14 RepliesThere's an important distinction here. Destiny's story is not 'terrible.' It was [i]told[/i] terribly. It has a really cool backlore, Bungie has just failed miserably at relaying that lore.

There is a lot shit with worse stories than destiny.

Titanfall is probably up there for me. Like Destiny the core game, the mechanics the graphics etc. are amazing but the universe as nice as it is to look at is void of much story.

Destiny does have a really great story. It's one of the most interesting I've played in any game. Although, the actual telling of the story was very shitty. So a lot could fall under Destiny. Anyway, a game with a shitty story. Call of Duty: Ghosts. I'm not saying this as a "CoD hater" because I actually enjoy the CoD series and its campaigns. This one however was the most cliche shit I've ever played.

There are plenty of games that have a "worse story" than Destiny, or even no story at all. But that's not the right question to be asking. Because those games never intended to have a story to begin with, or were designed around a fun game mechanic (like puzzle games etc) and didn't need a story. Destiny's story problem is that this game is supposed to be telling a sweeping epic space adventure story, and was advertised that way too. Pacman and Tetris and the like, weren't ever advertised that way, nor was Titanfall for that matter. Nor have been really any fighting games, though games like Street Fighter try to spackle on a half-baked story to relate all the characters, no one really cares.
