What do you think is the best way to win risk? Do you turtle it up in Australia, or try to control South America?

Start by taking N. America keeping at least 3 armies on EVERY territory so you can use all three dice for defense (if someone does breach your border defense) and of course buffing up the borders. Then take S. America. Again, always have at least 3 armies per territory. Then push large forces to Iceland, North Africa, and Kamchatka which pushes your borders out giving you a further buffer to defend your territory while making sure that no one gets bonus armies for controlling Europe, Africa, or Asia. From there push through Africa and buff up your borders to Europe and the through lower Asia to take Australia. Then the rest of Asia, then Europe. I've won 90% of my games this way (or a variation of this way).

Australia and South America. By having my forces in easily defendable, yet split up places, I find it is easier to harass my opponents and eventually take back America and Asia. I realize the majority of you are probably talking about the online Risk game. I wonder how many of you actually own the board game. We used to spend hours playing Risk, Axis and Allies, DnD, and Magic in my friend's basement. Fueled by Golden Crisp and chocolate Milk, we made six different zombie Risk scenarios and a mock version if DnD where it was post-apocalyptic America. Board game nights were the best...

Halo wars risk master race.

5 RepliesMy brother has the best luck in Ural. He successfully defended Ural from an attacking force of 30 guys with his 4 man defense. No bonus die or airfield. He eventually did lose but that last stand tho.

Edited by Spooter: 2/23/2014 11:49:54 PMI've always taken England, Greenland, and Iceland - keeping that entire area under my thumb as a central hub. It's the location with the most availability for attack, but there are so many ways of attack that it leaves you unpredictable and with no one really willing to back an invasion. With that, Europe is mostly yours, and the Americas are right there. It's high risk, but the pay-off is usually an easy win later on.

I generally wait for two armies to clash, then break their backs all the way through to Africa. Then hold out, reassemble my forces to where I get the most cards, and best borders depending on what I have left. Those two armies are still sitting there waiting to die. At this point the fourth army that hasn't fought is still turtling, waiting for an ally. I am now the target, and I have to get as large and flexible as possible.

2 RepliesAustralia Australia Australia You only have to defend one border, and you're so far away from everybody else that you don't even have to fight. Plus, you have All of the Asian territories for cards

1 ReplyYou MUST take Madagascar at all costs! At least it's a long standing tradition here. I normally try to bulk up my army in Australia, South America, or Africa if it works out for me. Then it's a matter of using a couple of cancer cell small armies to keep the opponents weak by not gaining additional armies as long as I can, then I start going for cards.

3 RepliesI always stockpile in one region and don't move out of it until it's powerhouse. Usually Europe.

1 ReplyIf playing increasing card value: amoeba army offense kill people with 4 cards master race. If playing consistent card value: Australia army master race
