Boycott it. by not playing on the 8th of April.
In the light of 343i's humiliating GDC panel, there is a boycott planed that should give 343i the answer to our disapproval.
Also note, that the boycott is perfectly suitable for repopulating Halo 3. The official ¨repopulate Halo 3¨ day is on the 7th, but repopulating on both days would make a bigger difference, IMO.
Send this message to all your friends: Message to all friends: April 7th is Halo 3 day. So Make sure to get on Halo 3 on Sunday. Also there is a boycott Halo 4 on April 8th. Feel free to play Halo 3 on that day as well. Send this to all your friends. Thanks.
The panel ( Multiplayer starts at around 45min ).
"Historically, we've had these twod audiences in Halo.... Campaign and Multiplayer..... We wanted to bind them"
"We wanted to create an experience where Campaign players could do well in Multiplayer, and introduce Multiplayer players into Campaign".
"We wanted to help new players find success, help them get power weapons in ordnance that they might never have gotten a hold of before"
"We want to make Halo more accessible and easier to succeed at"
"Halo always had a steep learning curve that threw players off, we wanted to change that"
"We listened to all the community feedback, and realised that players didn't want an even playing field and put a progression system in, which is what they wanted" - U WOT M8?(p)
I have just finished watching the panel at GDC.
It has been a reality check. A reality check that if you played CE - Halo 3, there is no more Halo like that any more.
Not only is it an insult to state that the "Community" wanted a progression system, but it is false. How did you manage to survey the entire community and ask them what they wanted?
You are in a total state of self denial, 343.
You should have seen the Twitch.tv chat! Oh my god they were going absolutely mental at how many utter lies you were spouting, not to mention all the things you said that re-affirmed to a lot of people that Halo's direction is this:
http://i.imgur.com/h2MTcl9.png (Actual picture slide that was displayed at the event)
"We made Infinity Slayer so campaign kids could use power weapons in Multiplayer." - This is not how a multiplayer should be made.
"Steep learning curve that threw a lot of players off" - Are you serious! Halo has always been a massive game because it takes skill, it's not like any other generic FPS like Battlefield or COD!.
It's almost as embarrassing that the "X"'s are broken. How do you screw this up? "They will be displayed throughout the duration of your death" - Kevin Franklin.
Now... Was this a lie? Or did you not even PLAYTEST YOUR OWN -Yoinking!- GAME?
How do you screw this up? What was wrong with the old one? It seems like you have an EGO problem, you refuse to leave anything in the game that Bungie created.
You INSIST on redesigning EVERYTHING... Even if it's not broken.
The fact that it was called "A Postmortem" is quite right, expect they can't seem to see what killed Halo.
What's funny is that no one at 343 actually reads these forums. Feedback is useless.
40k Population.
And yes, I am seriously mad. You put "Halo" on the box. I bought the game thinking it would have Halo Multiplayer (Thank you, Mr Audley) This is NOT Halo multiplayer.
Don't forget, tomorrow is the day.
-
I've been boycotting this shit for months.
-
I'm boycotting by not playing every day. So April 8th will be no different.
-
And actually I was originally planning on hosting a Halo 4 custom game party with prizes on my youtube channel but I might change it to Halo 3 and pull a few extra people into Halo 3 but it takes planning and I have a minecraft build off tournament in front of it so it might not be happening for a while.

Edited by Braydzz: 4/6/2013 7:52:36 PMI havent played halo 4 in months. Heck I still haven't played the majestic map pack yet despite having the limited edition. I played a split screen game of halo 3 with 3 of my friends and it was actually really fun.
-
that's right, cater to the kids that will abandon your game for the next cod.

28 RepliesThe fan base of Halo has gone from good to terrible since Halo 2 came out. 343i cannot win by doing anything, and people think Halo 4 was a bad game. If Halo 4 is a bad game in your opinion, then you've only played a handful of games in your short lifetime as a gamer. I'd also put money on all those games having the words Halo or Call of Duty in the title...
-
1 ReplyI've been boycotting Halo 4 for months now. Make sure to play Halo 3 on the 7th and 8th as well.
-
I was thinking, what if 343 shut down the Halo 3 servers just to make us play Halo 4. ;) But seriously, I will be on Halo 3.
-
I am a Bungie's Halo man, and I lol'd/was enraged at the "new" precursor weapons, because I realized instantly that they hadn't really created anything new at all. Him "revealing" to people at the GDC that the light-gun (shot-gun thing?") was "...(suspense) effectively only a shotgun" was a little insulting. Any critical thinker instantly knew...it's just shinier.

I got on yesterday and there was only 6k people online.

3 RepliesWhy is it that I'm the only one who hasn't a -blam!-ing clue why they chose a MONDAY?! I'll be playing on the weekend. But school n' stuff? Whoever planned this isn't swift.
-
3 RepliesYeah, waste our time on a different Halo game. That'll show 'em!
-
8 RepliesWhy is it I'm the only person who doesn't have any problem with the game?

9 RepliesThe first 33 minutes are spot on. Holmes talks about the campaign, story and universe in a lot of detail and the inspiration in some of the writing becomes very apparent. At the time that Halo 4 was being written, Holmes' mother was suffering from dementia which he states was a really significant influence on how Cortana was handled and in truly emphasising the tragedy. There were apparently times during development where some of the writers wanted this particular aspect of the story with Cortana's rampancy taken out, but Holmes pushed for it because he was motivated by events happening to him in real life. To me, this adds even more of a humanising element to the story between John and Cortana. Another thing I was glad to see was that he acknowledged some of the things that fell short. For example, and perhaps most contentious to many players, the issue of connecting some of the additional fiction to the main game. While they did a stellar job of translating the depth, development and story of the novels to the game, they fell short in making it apparent to the player - more specifically, the 'average Joe' player who is unfamiliar with the expanded universe. The Terminals were apparently removed from the main game because of disk space issues which Holmes draws attention to, this was somewhat annoying to me and I'm glad that they recognised this as a big issue. So about 60% of the panel was great. Holmes did really well in articulating the challenge that 343 faced in making Halo 4's story and the inspiration behind it. But then, as has been discussed, when the topic of multiplayer came up everything fell to pieces... Their multiplayer team has gone bat-shit retarded. Binding the campaign and multiplayer audience has frankly been a step backwards for Halo. No longer can we play as Elites, a shot in the foot for themselves but an even worse shot in the foot for people who make machinimas. Do they not understand that the campaign essentially prepares you for the multiplayer? In campaign, you learn all the critical faculties of the game and historically the campaign audience has absolutely dominated the higher difficulties. Anyone who has passed Halo 2 on Heroic or Legendary is pretty much guarunteed to be an exceptionally good player online. There has never been a "steep learning curve" to Halo's multiplayer. Everyone starts equal, work as a team to secure vital areas of the map and cover choke points with the weapons provided, minimise your deaths, win the game. This is not a "steep learning curve", this is the formula that arena shooters have been using for decades. This seems like a justification for pandering to new audiences while alienating the old, they seem to think that Halo's multiplayer ISN'T accessible to people who play the campaign... I am an avid campaign player, it's what I play Halo for, and I like to think I'm pretty decent at Halo's multiplayer, even a pretty good one back in the Halo 2/3 days. Their mentality right now in making Halo "easier to succeed at" pretty much sums up my hatred for the direction the majority of the competitive FPS genre. I would link you to John Gibson, the President of Tripwire Active, who says that “Call of Duty has almost ruined a generation of shooter players”. This I can absolutely agree with because since 2007 when the first Modern Warfare came out as the first 'Halo-killer' title (as any game which competed with Halo was known back in the day) other shooters began emulating the COD 'arcade' gameplay formula while Halo stood vigilant at its roots. This has changed, the Halo multiplayer has embraced this new style of formula and it just doesn't fit the mould. Do I still enjoy playing Halo 4's multiplayer? Yes. I think it's still fun to play and can enjoy the experience it offers. Do I approve of the mentality of 343's multiplayer team and the direction they've taken? Certainly -blam!-ing not.

And if your interested, here is the complaint thread that spawned from the horrible but revealing GDC, and the link to the Halo 3 repopulation day also taking place on the 8th. This will show them that we don't want Halo 3 to be ignored, and that we don't like Halo 4 as it is.
-
Oh good god. How have I missed this? This is absolutely infuriating. I'm going to do something (reasonable) about this.
-
1 ReplyYeah, i´m angry that i bought the limited edition because i haven´t even download the new DLC´s and the fact that everything else in the LE was garbage make me sadface :(
-
Already not gonna play on the 8th; I play this game only when my friends tell me to. This game isn't fun like Halo 3 was.
-
At this point, I'm convinced Halo 5 should just be Halo 3 II.
-
Rather than having a boycott for one day why don't you just stop playing it entirely if you don't like the direction 343 took Halo with H4?
-
>2013 >Still playing Halo 4 ishygddt
-
7 RepliesI enjoy the game. Get mad.

1 ReplyEdited by Caayn: 4/3/2013 10:02:13 PMWell that boycot sure is easy, count me in. Besides a couple of action sack games I haven't touched Halo 4 in a while. And I don't plan on touching it anytime soon. Edit: I say we all go play Halo 3 on that instead of Halo 4.
