Game of Thrones / book advice required

With destiny being as dry as the Sahara, I'm looking to fill time. Absolutely loved game of thrones until season 8 & felt it was rushed to start the spinoffs asap. Loved the house of dragon & I'm 1 episode into seventh kingdom & really enjoyed it. Are the books worth reading? Are there differences between books & shows? Which order is best to read them all? Thanks to anyone more knowledgeable than me, used to read a lot & was particularly into stephen king , the dark tower series was superb, & anything post apocolyptic so feel free to drop any recommendations & I'll take a look. I like getting invested into characters, it's why I loved breaking bad 😁 No spoilers please (obviously) & thanks in advance 👍
Are there differences between books & shows?
No, the show’s a one-to-one word-for-word remake.
Which order is best to read them all?
Naturally you’re gonna want to start with the last three chapters of A Dance with Dragons, then read A Storm of Swords, then get halfway through A Clash of Kings, switch to A Feast for Crows and finish the last halves of those two books simultaneously (i.e. listen to the audio book for one while you read the other), then you’re go and get all 16 endings in the Telltale series, and finally you’ll have to wait for A Dream of Spring to come out and read it before reading A Game of Thrones and then finally The Winds of Winter.
