Who does this to a dog? Farewell Archie / Artemis

Artemis, who was the real life inspiration for Archie, the robot dog in the tower, was murdered today by one of the owner's neighbors. All I can say is, "Human beings suck." Rest in glory, Artemis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gn5cM453v1Q

Do we even know the full story? This is what's going on right now. Uninformed opinions. That's the real problem. What if the dog was threatening a child? Killing someone else's pet? You just don't know. Update from doing actual research. Let’s add context and research. The dog was “ allegedly” at the bottom of a driveway of a neighbor when shot and mortally wounded. Yes, it seems it was a scumbag that did this. Still doesn’t change the fact so many just jump to conclusions. And even then we haven’t heard the other side of the story.
was murdered today by one of the owner's neighbors.
From the reddit post: "I’m saddened to say that Artemis passed away today. He was unfortunately shot by one of the neighbors after he ran off our property." The owner didn't say murder, you did. Unless you have further info to share you do not know the context or facts. "Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought." Changing the wording serves only to be divisive and to manipulate an already tragic story. Let's wait until there's a police report and the neighbors side of the story. Edit: No surprise OP is a journalist. Anger and division sells better stories.

          • I think I read about this maybe a week or so ago on reddit. I can sympathise with the dog owner, losing a pet can be heart breaking. That said, from my own personal experience (broke my arm falling over when I was almost knocked down by a car as I escaped a dog that was neither on a leash nor muzzled) dog owners in particular need to realise that, despite their thoughts to the contrary, everyone else does not actually love, know, trust their dog as much as they do. People can get put in a state of fear for themselves, their families, their pets/livestock. There’s often no cure for the aftermath, so always keep your animals within your own control.

Death Penalty should be sought for all puppy killers. Unless of course, they have rabies or something…

              • Before my comment, I want to state that I have the utmost respect for anyone who has served their country and risked their lives to protect the freedoms and citizens of their respective nations. But stories like this leave me drowning in sadness and burning with anger at the same time. The land of the free and the home of the brave, they say. A land so “free” that anyone can buy a gun at a supermarket. So “free” that people are encouraged to walk the streets armed and afraid of one another. And the brave — the oh so brave — who prove their courage by shooting an innocent animal for wandering onto their property. How empty and broken must someone be to move through life believing they need to kill something that cannot fight back? There is nothing brave about fear dressed up as freedom. It’s just pathetic — and deeply, heartbreakingly sad.

                • Isn't this considered "political" discussion? I'm a dog owner/lover as well, but why post this on a game forum?

                  • So unless the dog was attacking someone or acting aggressive I would agree probly didn’t need to shoot it but also on other hand why are u not looking after your pets and letting them roam the streets I’ve been attacked by stray dogs before

                    • Imagine shooting the dog of a Make a Wish kid? I don't know about you, but I know my neighbors... There's no way they couldn't have known or mistaken the dog for something else like a coyote.

                    • Sounds like self defense to me. It was unfortunate sure, but ive been attacked by a dog with no leash/muzzle before. If i had a weapon to defend myself he wouldnt have chomped on my leg. Its not the neighbours fault and classing it as murder is crazy
